What exactly does "the battery powers fine " mean? Why cant you just connect it to the USB port and flash it again through there? Is something seen by your OS when you plug it in if "the battery powers fine"?

I have managed at least twice, always when having installed PC2003 and the XDA just dying. As you may have read, resuscitating the XDA is a bit of a black art, but I took these notes last time it happened in case it dies again, hope they are useful.

This worked last time!!

The key is to getting Activesync to pick up the XDA

Remove Sim card
Have XDA in cradle and wait until the XDA boots up
Leave it in the cradle for a couple of hours (not sure if this is necessary)
Boot up PC
Activesync should pick up the device
Run Programme B with XDA still in cradle
XDA will flash something, then reset and SHOULD install the RSU
Insert Sim and.....bingo
