Is my battery really dead!

Is there a definitive way to check if the battery is dead?

I put the xda in the cradle for 6+ hours, as soon as I take it out it indicates that I need to recharge.

If your battery is more, than 4 years old, it's definitely dead. So, I suppose, you should order a new one and replace - that's all...

Or if you could get Li-Pol accu, fits 53*85*4.2mm size - you can replace failed accu. However, you'll need some soldering work.
