Choosing all contacts

is it possible to choose all contacts?i tried doing the control+a but that doesnt seem to work.i also tried holding and dragging but that doesnt work either.i even tried using the custom button in wisbar thats set to select all but also no go... :( i just want to be able to convert all contacts to the first,last name format by using the file as app.anyone have an idea how to do this?
