I have been trying to figure out how to create a ROM kitchen for the Wizard.

One of the major things that would help would be to figure out the [DEV] folder of Bepe's ROM Kitchen. With that available for the Wizard then this system should work just fine.

You can always prevent the customization of the ROM, and then install whatever you want, including extended ROM files. I did this with T-Mobile's 2.6 ROM, creating a folder on my miniSD that contains all the CABs I want to install, including some from the 2.6, Total Commander, etc.
Then, when I do a hard reset, I prevent the customization, and run through the installation of these files manually. It is a small convenience to automate the process, but much easier to experiment and start over, which is likely to be necessary to figure out what is useful, needed, works or doesn't work.
The T-Mobile customization is discussed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=57726
I will be interested to hear how the 3.2 works!

Personally what I want to be able to do is to load certain programs into the base ROM package. Like Pocket Informant and PhoneAlarm and AlarmToday. That way they leave me with more available storage memory space.

After the hard reset, you will go through the screen alignment, move Dr. Johnson's appointment, and then the Today screen comes up. Perform a soft reset with the stylus (poke the hole in the side) when the 'The Customizations will begin in 3 seconds" pops up. As long as you do it before the 3 seconds are over, the customization is prevented.

Hi, someone has time to try this?
WIZ_AKU_3.2_Test_nocert.rar (http://hn801.hkes.com/Data/4_bepe/WIZ_AKU_3.2_Test_nocert.rar)
the rar contains a 80040000-OS_0.nb, you should know how to handle that...

How have you tried Syncing?
Bluetooth
USB - Serial
USB - Advanced Networking ENabled
Exchange Server Via GPRS
Also, any observations on what else is or isn't working?
I'm on the edge of flashing this to my device and helping test....

@ptfdmedic: Uploading an nk.nbf right now.
I've tried USB with and without Advanced Networking enabled. No bluetooth since I use Win2003 Server (and I hate BT anyway) and I don't use Exchange server either.

Now I really wish I had brought my laptop to work as it has Bluetooth and that is the only way I've ever sync'ed with it. I can however try the Exchange Server Sync this afternoon.
Looks like I'm backing-up my Device right now (so I can easily return to its current state if I need to).

ROM Upgrade Utility (ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Wizard/Roms/Wizard_RomUpgradeUtility_noID.rar)
The ROM (ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Wizard/Roms/AKU_3.2_Beta/AKU_3.2_Test_NoCert_NoActiveSync.rar)
Note: The rest of the ROM is from MrClean's 2.24a ROM, that's why you will have its splash screen and extended rom and such. You don't have to install the ExtROM, just reboot before the 3 sec countdown finishes.
Note2: This ROM has no bootloader in it so people with G4 bootloaders should be able to flash it as well.

I have proper GPRS Settings entered and it thinks it connected via GPRS once but I wan't able to browse any websites.
Every other time it just stays connecting forever.
On ActiveSync, the PC recgonizes the device but again the communications seems to not works.
With Advanced Networking enabled it never gets an IP Address.
Without Advanced Networking enabled it stays at Authenticating User.

To Bepe
Can you pls explain how did you cook the AKU3.2 rom? Give us just a clue or some docs to read...
As far as i remember Bepe doesn't own a wizard so he cannot do extensive testing on the wizard roms ha prepares. If we could know how to create an AKU3.2 rom then, maybe, we could end up with a fully working rom sooner.
I'm studying the WM5 rom kitchen Bepe posted on Buzzdev and i must admit that it's quite complex to adapt it to our wizard.
Pls Bepe, share your knowledge with us...
Bye bye and thanks for all

This is not the first AKU3 ROM that bepe has created, I have already tested serveral versions to him, this is just the first version that is good enough to be tested by the public :)

Yep, i tested a few bepe's aku3.0 builds too. They didn't even start...
Last time i asked him, he promised i would have created a small tutorial or how-to giving more details about how he cook these roms.

I saw that the Comm Manager is older version than is in the 2.26 (AKU 2.3) Rom.
I did notice that the configuration Wizard allows you to skip the "Dr Johnson routine" and the WM Splash is Green but aside from that what is different?

From Mobile-review's article which explains it very well (http://www.mobile-review.com/pda/articles/wm-aku-en.shtml)
"...One of the best things about AKU 3.0 is so-called Language Provisioning, enabling local manufacturers to add as many languages to a device as its onboard memory can store (at that every dictionary takes up from 6 to 12 Mb, depending on given language)..."
"...Wireless connectivity has also received a major boost – an all-round new Internet Sharing utility replaces Modem Link, and allows accessing Internet via Pocket PC or smartphone with the help of USB/Bluetooth connection...."
"...One of the most crucial improvements is support for WPA2 – the most secure Wi-Fi standard for the time being. However the developers have seemingly decided to give Wi-Fi all their efforts and embedded Wi-Fi Multimedia, also called Wi-Fi Quality of Service (QoS), which allows access point to modify bandwidth limit for each application – a really credible tool when it comes to IP-telephony and streaming multimedia applications..."
...Bluetooth connectivity has gotten enhanced as well: from now on it supports FTP profile, better handles A2DP, whose quality gave rise to criticism lately...."
"...A really credible feature has been embedded in Internet Explorer Mobile –AJAX support (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML), enabling you to create dynamic pages on a mobile device; gmail.com is apparently the most widely-known AJAX-based service...."
"...Contacts can be now transferred via SMS (in vCard standard), and should you retrieve a short message containing a phonebook entry, you will be immediately offered to save it into your contacts...."
"...Short messages can be saved on SIM-card..."
"...You can now send messages via GPRS (SMS over GPRS), but for that you will have to make sure that your cellular operator offers support for this function...."
"...Support for contacts stored on SIM-USIM card has been improved...."
Full stuff on the linked article.

I used [this DEV package] (http://hn801.hkes.com/Data/4_bepe/DEV_WIZ_beta.rar) to create the ROM...
- You are right, making this without a Wizard is driving me crazy
- I used a QTEK AKU 2 ROM as base, cos of this the old comman. (This is just make up!)
- I did not split the WM5 files to OS and LOC, cos this is only WWE beta and no other AKU 3.2 languages exist at the moment
- The error should be somewhere inside the OEM folder
I had something like this on my Himalaya (long time ago..):
- See: Start/Settings/Connections/Connections/my ISP there should be more things (not only "Add new connection")
- I think DEV\OS\813fd1d1-ca6f-4b6d-96d2-c97fb99bd535\ mxip_wpc_1.provxml are this entryes..
- So the mxip*.provxml files havnt been installed
These are the conditions for mxip*.provxml files:
- The mxip*.provxml file must be mentioned inside a DSM file (it is inside 813fd1d1-ca6f-4b6d-96d2-c97fb99bd535.dsm, and I did not change the packages inside DEV\OS\ so all DSM files are OK)
- The DSM file must be mentioned inside packages.sof (I think it is...)
- All DSM files inside packages.sof and also all mxip*.provxml mentioned in DSM files must exist.. (thats much work to )

We need to get a latest wizard rom and apply the latest AKU 3.2. Then we need to incorperate the working active sync update and then get the wifi/bluetooth features working. Once we have a base with the latest AKU 3.2 with working activesync, then we can all start fixing it to get the wifi/grps/bluetooth working. I am interested in testing once we get a working base rom.
