I'm getting a "530 login incorrect" when I click the download link in the first post of this thread. I'm obviously logged into the forums as I see the link...is there something I am overlooking?

Thanks.

Ok, just flashed to this ROM this AM, but I think I have issues, and am not sure what has happened through the numerous updates I have performed on my Cingular 8125. I probably have tried almost every ROM out there. The ROM previous to trying this was the AKU 3.2 thats floating around here...previous to that was the last Official Cingular 2.25. Here are my specs....

At Boot Up...
IPL: 2.25
SPL: 2.25
GSM: 02.25.11
OS: 2.26.10.2

About...
OS: 5.1.195 (Build 14955.2.3.0)

Device Info...
ROM Version: 2.26.10.2 WWE
ROM Date: 6/7/06
Radio Version: 02.25.11
Protocol Version: 4.1.13.12

Are these specs in line with this ROM, or am I missing something?

Also...after updating to this ROM, and the AKU 3.2, earlier this week...The update is completing at %100, and says to check the device for further setup (or whatever it says) but my device is not restarting itself automatically. It stays on the Red/Blue/Green screen. If I do a soft reset, it seems to complete the update process. I have never had this happen before with any updates.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.....Thanks

i had so many freaking issues with 3.2... but those look like the correct spec's for my latest and greatest public release so you should be good.. i would verify that there is am Ext Rom Installer icon in your programs menu

nope, your good for now, that is the latest and greatest public beta release.. most of the problem post's you see are from my beta tester's on my private rom.. trying to get all the bugs out before releasing to the public! everyone is going to be in for a treat with that one ;)

Yes, the Ext Rom Icon is in my program menu. Is there a reason why my IPL and SPL still show 2.25?

Has anyone else encountered problems with their device not automatically rebooting itself aftfer the update is complete?

Weird. Even if I try downloading the ROM using

wget ftp://xda:xda%40ftp@ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Wizard/Roms/Shogun_A_La_Carte_Cingular_WWE_2.exe

I still get login incorrect. I was trying to download from an XP box using FF, then also using IE. I switched to our server but no joy. I'll try it from home later and see what happens.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm sure that you're running a G3 ROM... right? (ie no .00001 seen??)
If you downgrade to the 1.05 and it STILL reports 2.x IPL and or SPL then run the lokiwiz 2b. Look for the faria thread regarding this.

Good luck!

(and you said that you were running the molski ROM ....)

CyWith IE you need to click on File then Login AS and put your info in there. With Firefox you need FireFTP. Best bet is to use a real FTP client ...

Just my 2 cents..

Hello All,
I have had no issues with this Beta ROM. Went back to an older ROM, Unlocked CID and SIM once again. This time I am positive that it worked.

Loaded Beta and have had no issues. Fast, reliable, no soft restarts out of no where, no sunpass issues. All software appears to work fine right now. When opening keyboard to send text message down arrow will not advance to message area. Using left key fixes this.

Everything is well.

Now I get to root around and have fun with this new ROM. I just finished installing it.

i have posted this several times already... if i could find the pages right now i would just copy and paste the links.. however..

i did not include an updated IPL/SPL so you will have some very very slow issues.. i did not want to brick anyone's G4 ... you will need to flash a version with an updated IPL/SPL then flash my a la carte version, then everything will be good!

It asked me for a password for the encrpyed file yes it does.not to put you off but that rom is for beta testers only.it can be very confusing for newbies,.thats why it is protected, plus we dont want people asking the same questions again and again because they did not enrol in testing from the beguining.but if u are sure that can contribute, and know you way about roms maybe we can help you out.

anyway the rom will be out soon............

OK, here is some feedback in case it might help somebody else. I tried installing the current beta and it worked except that the phone part of the 8125 was not available. I could not access phone functions at all even though the PDA functions were there.

I was using Summiter's 2.24 ROM so the IPL/SPL were older versions. I grabbed the 2.26 cingular ROM from Shogun/Putt? and then reloaded the beta and now everything seems OK. I'll have to play with it some more but it seems pretty fast.

I'm glad I made this move right before the next version comes out! ;-)

While using the WM5NewMenu app I changed my button number 5 config (was Comm Manager), to whatever the default was for the app. I cannot get this button back to the Comm Manager. I have tried resetting the button to Comm Manager under the 2nd page of the app, items page. Cannot change it. Beta ROM.
Thanks,

come on man, post it to the blog...

i just went to WM5New menu, created a new menu, closed it, verified that it worked, then went to system and buttons, took button 5 which was still on comm manager, changed it to contacts, closed it, verified that it worked and it pulled contacts, i then went back and made 5 comm manager and voila, back to comm manager.

I force myself to only play with the phone on weekends and am wondering if its worth waiting for or taking on the one from post1 of this thread?

This is by far the fastest and most stable rom I have ever try. But one big problem is that it consumes a lot of battery life. I was on the phone for no more then 2 mins and it drop from 100% to 96%. Then I call my voicemail and probably was on for again no more then 2 mins and it drop down to 93%. 1 hour later without even using the phone at all I check and it was down to 86%. Is anyone else having this problem?

Also Activesync keeps popping up. I have always use vBar to close and see what programs are running. Everytime I close activesync a few mins later it pops up. May this is why my battery life decreases a lot.

I have noticed this as well. I assumed it was due to omapclock plus, I'm overclocking to 240. I have since discontinued it and am at 180mhz still to early to tell if there is a difference. I keep constant tabs on what programs are running and close out all open programs when done, Definitely using more batter than my last Rom (summiter 2.17)

i havent noticed an excessive battery drain, and mine is overclocked to 252 constantly.. but your not being able to close active sync correctly could be due to wclose.exe program in the start up folder, this is the one that gives you the red x and asks you if you want to close yes/no... well it dont seem to work on active sync

I am not sure if ti the case with this ROM, but I notiecd when I upgraded to 2.25 ROM from Summitter that the battery life seemed to suck at first but then leveled off. I know that some of it had to do with the direct push addition (I upgraded from 1.8) but to sum up the gist of several long threads I think that with a major new ROM it simply takes time to adjust. I knwo that makes no logical sense, but it seems to hold true.

This is a known issue with upgrading ROMs...not to worry. Anytime you upgrade ROMs the system needs a few full power-up and drain cycles before it regulates battery usage or some crap like that. Anyway, power it up, use it til it nearly dies, repeat, then everything will be fine.

i have been using this rom for about 3 -4 weeks now i guess.. and i have 2 issues ..

the internet connections is awful.. i checked all the setting so i am unsrue why and think the issue resides deaper.. it consistanly drops or takes a very very long time to connect.. (this is via cingular data). If i hook into my wifi all is good.

the second i just noticed and never really noticed before.. but when i "lock" my phone the clock stops.. once i unock it refreshes to the correct time..

other than those i think its great and very snappy..

I dont have any add on applictions installed either as i was waiting on the final release with you guys but i am considering going back to the summiter ROM as the DATA connection is driving me nuts..

anythoughts ?

anythoughts ?I'd change the DNS servers to those form OpenDNS (http://www.opendns.com) The link to the PDA sction is Windows Mobile 5 (http://www.opendns.com/start/windows_mobile5.php)

I've had various connection issues with this ROM that are quite bizarre. Right now I'm using the UWC with the latest T-Mobile GSM to see if that helps.

I don't lock my device so's I have no experience with that clock issue.

the connection thing dr. p already covered, and its not the rom, its just the awful DNS servers used by cingular on the isp.cingular connection... as far as the clock stopping... that is strange, cause i know that mine didnt do it i dont think... i only used my latest public beta for about a week, and i lock my phone all the time, but dont remember an issue with the clock stopping.. or i could just have a horrible memory... but i dont think it did it

which of the roms are you using? there are 2 versions on the ftp server... i just loaded my latest public one "A La Carte".. i went into the settings and made sure my screen wouldnt turn off, then locked my phone and waited.. it changed time just like it should.

well the today screen does time out after a certain amount of time, which could cause your time to stop updating... i also think.. which i am not certain, but think when you power off the display or it goes into standby i stops refreshing until you bring it out of standby...

This complaint came up frequently a few months back when summiter and others were releasing a bunch of new ROMs... couldn't find many references to it, but didn't search that long. Try this link...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=272385&highlight=wizard+upgrade+battery+life

I seem to recall its something about the battery meter not calibrated to measuring the battery correctly--it doesn't know how "much" battery is there, so when the charge drops a little, it initially overestimates the percentage drop until it is drained a few times and self-calibrates. You have to let the device drain until it shuts down for the device to recognize the limits of the battery.
I don't claim to fully understand this, just that this was the advice given previously and I'm passing it on to help you out. Good luck.

I think i may have noticed this clock problem a few times. Its really not a big deal as the time updates quickly.

My data seems slow as well. I think it may have been faster before i upgraded. Besides these two things this build has been solid.

Besides the data/edge prob (if it is even a prob).. ive noticed improvement in everything else. Even when connected via activesync.. the files tranfer allot faster now.. Wifi works better then ever and picks up signals quickly.

Hello.

Problem started when I used the following rom.

NEW Custom 2.26 ROM with CF2-SP1 Flash7 Java Rings Themes...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276700

So I downgraded to the offcial i-mate rom. I then upgraded to your rom. Which I love by the way.

Here is what it's showing now.

IPL: 2.16
SPL: 2.16
GSM: 02.25.11
OS: 2.26.10.2

I just notice that the phone will turn off and back on when the battery is around 18% or less. It will keep doing this as a cycle. Any advise?

I'm calibrating the battery now. I'm going to let it drain all the way and then do a full charge.

I'm doing this because the battery drains so fast. Hopefully it will fix my issues. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks for all the hard work. So far this is the best organized and fast rom.

Then go to the folder you created for my rom and copy the nk.nbf file and paste it into this new folder and run the update utility.. its foreign, but for G4, if you have problems reading the foreign language the help me is in english and has screen shots

Ok so I tried this on my G4 device, and it flashed, but it does not look like I got the extended rom loaded. I have none of the other applications you mentioned in your first post. but at least it flashed.

Yep everything is set to sync but nothing.

Plus for some reason I have have a horrible time with random resets.
So I reloaded my older 2.25 Cingular Rom.

Maybe it was some of my tweaks are not compatible with your rom ?

But when the new one comes out I will give it a try :)

I just upgraded to this ROM, it's works as advertised. good speed and all, however my touchscreen no longer works in landscape mode, any ideas? I will try a hard re-set and re-flash. Search on this forum gave me no clues on the touchscreen problem, maybe my G3 8125 has hit the floor one to many times.

I upgraded following the steps, and now I've got a rom that freezes on me every few secs and the radio doesn't work. I can get into bootloader mode, but I'm needing some advice from that point.

I'm used to bootloader in the SX56, but am new to Wizard. Can someone lend a hand and point me to a tried and true rom, and instructions on how to use the bootloader to get it loaded?

Many thanks,

I've been watching my MEMORY --> PROGRAM, and it keeps shrinking as the minutes go by. At some point in the day, I have to reset my device and the PROGRAM MEMORY goes back to around 20MB. When it hits 1MB my device will ask me to close some apps and hang... and at that point i have to restart the device.

What is this PROGRAM MEMORY (START --> SETTING --> MEMORY --> Program (on the right hand side of the menu)) for?

I especially noticing the rapid decline of the memory when i installed Yahoo Go!

When I boot my 8125, I see the following:

ipl 1.08
spl 1.08
gsm 01.16.11
OS 1.8.11.1

Also, I just ran lokiwiz's CID-Unlock (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=249474) seems to be fine but I don't have another carriers sim to test it.

Should I just follow these instructions?

d/l the exe, choose to unpack it to its own folder, then run ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID

I have read this entire thread over time but I'm a noob and don't always know if what I'm reading applies to me at the time that I read it. I don't remember seeing my question addressed in my reading. That being said, I didn't know until recently that with my setup I wouldn't be able to use AVRCP. Will this ROM be using the Microsoft BT Stack or the Widcomm stack. I'm hoping that it's the Widcomm Stack. I've bought Pocket Player 3.0 and currently use MortPlayer. To be able to use AVRCP I understand that I need the Widcomm Stack. Curses on Bill Gates.

Not quite true. I use pocket player 3 with the MS BT stack without issue. You will just need the WMP plugin found on their site: http://www.conduits.com/products/player/plugins.asp

To answer your question about which BT stack is on the ROM, I don't know but i suspect MS.

I have tried it before but I was greener than I am now. I'll try it again. Thanks for the reminder.

I've taken to listening to mp3's with a jabra bt110 earpiece. Without AVRCP, it's just not worth the trouble.

Why do most players use Widcomm when it comes to AVRCP? You'd think Microsoft's 800 pound gorilla would command more respect.

Is there any way to get Widcomm onto my WM5 Wizard? If so, how?

wow, that almost sounds like a hardware issue.. it sounds like your 8125 actually died... i would call that in for warranty exchange.. and try to flash a stock rom before doing so.. try to get into bootloader by holding down the camera button while powering on, if you get the Red Green Blue screen then try to flash a stock rom, if that doesnt work just call warranty and tell them what your phone did, but just tell them you were running their latest rom

Hi,

I have read nearly all this thread and there is a lot of info. Only had my 8125 for two weeks and just got the Motorola HT820 BT Stereo headset.

All I really want to do is get the 8125 to work with the HT820. Don't need any other mods or programs at this point (that I am aware of) and I don't want to impair any of the phone's current features (bt voice dialing, etc.)

It appears that to do this I primarily need to add an A2DP profile. It gets confusing after that. As far as I can determine, the steps to add an A2DP are:

1. SIM unlock the phone (lockiwiz version 02b or 03b?) Looks like the 02b also CID unlocks phone but not the 03a?
2. CID unlock the phone (looks like this is necessary to be able to update the firmware. If lokiwiz 03b doesn't do it then what should I use?)
3. Install the firmware that includes an A2DP profile (Looks like there is a summiter v2.17 and Shogun's "A-La-Carte". Do either of these automatically unlock the phone making step 1 or 2 unnecessary?)

Confusing also is that I find posts that say you need to downgrade your firmware to 1.8(?) and it seems like this issue, solutions and this thread have developed (and changed) over time. I also find talk about an AKU(?) which looks relevant. It's really hard to put all the info together to know what specifically to do to get the HT820 headphones to work. Would it be possible to get a step-by-step for us confused noobs?

Thanks,

swjtx

swjtx, please don't thread hijack. Plus there is all the info you want already here on the forum.

BUT. From what I understand since you already running a 2.* series ROM, you can flash directly to this one. I can't tell if you are on a G3 or G4, I'd guess G3 since your IPL and SPL numbers don't end in 0001. So, find lokiwiz here on the boards, read all about it and perform a SuperCID if you want. Then you are free to flash anything you want on there.

Only slightly, as most of the stuff is covered elsewhere. So far my favorite ROM is the one in this thread. Seems to be quick and stable here. Whatever you do, don't freak out during the flash when it hangs near the end. Just let it finish.

All locked out of the phone so you do a reset and it sets the phone time to 12.00 and sets the date to i think it was the 6th June.

Any ideas?

Also how do I get the time to be in the 24 hr format?

first person to experience any kind of lockup like that....

and your time problem, go to settings, system, regional settings, time, timestyle H:mm:ss tt and you will go back to a 24hr format

So this is by far the best ROM I've used. I did notice Shogun, that you mention merging 3.2 in? What's the status on that?

Also, has anybody noticed having to re-align your screen more often?

With reference the time I tried changing what you said and it made no difference, still doesnt show 24hr format.
The lock up's are unusual it never happened before the flash and has only happened twice since.
I cant say if there was anything leading to the lockup as the 2nd time I had only used the phone 5 minutes beforhand and then put it on the desk.
Its weird how it defaults the time and date, the only reason I knew about it the first time was because I missed an appointment and couldnt understand why as it was in my phone, then noticed the time was wrong went to change it and realised the date was also wrong. Hence why I didnt get reminded.

Other than that the roms brilliant, I know you have changed it since the first one but its good for me. The phone is so much more user friendly and those apps are great.

Dave.

Okay, Im a newbie here and have an unlocked phone. I been on this forum for 2 hours just reading all the previous posts and am REALLY anxious to try out this rom (being my first rom). I have an unlocked 8125.
Heres what I got:
IPL 2.25
SPL 2.25
ROM/GSM/Radio: 02.25.11 WWE
OS 2.25.11.1
ExtRom : 2.25.11.102
protocol version: 4.1.13.12

I am using TMobile on this Cingular phone but it takes forever to pick up reception once its lost. I wanted to know if your rom would help in that in any way? Or reduce the amount of drop calls i get? If anything goes wrong, I can always put back the Cingular Rom right? Sorry for a long msg :/

I updated my rom because I was having problems with a previously cooked rom that dropped calls....

I'm currently displaying
ipl - 2.26
spl - 2.26
GSM 2.47.11
OS - 2.26.10.2

I used SPB backup to put all my goodies back on the handset. I had to because I'm currently traveling.

Did the SPB restore copy over anything cool in this rom? I want to take full advantage of it.

Let me know...

oh and by the way the comm screen on my 8125 looks a little messed up? Is it my device?

You should look in the Upgrade area here for the Radio ROM Update, it will update you radio for your phone. I did it, and i get a lot better reception on my phone after losing signal. As far as upgrading your ROM, this is probably one of the best out there, and it is still in beta so if you can hold out on the it for a while and let them work the bugs out.

if your using my latest public beta then you could re-flash, i had re-packaged it with the new radio.. or you can just download the new radio on the server, check my thread on here... if you reflash the whole rom, then yes you will lose your stuff, if you just reflash the radio then no you *shouldnt* lose your stuff

it is possible that spb could have overwritten some of the stuff on there.. and it could have even possibly cause the issue with the comm manager.. i would maybe do a comparison test, do a hard reset, fully check the out the features in the software and the comm manager, then run spb and see what all changes.. SPB is great backup software when restoring to the same rom, but can cause issues when changing roms..

Hi - I've found the info on your threads really interesting - New owner of 8125 from previous 3125 - Problem is no stereo BT for my BT logitech head phones lke I had on the 3125 -

Years ago I flashed, bricked & then some how saved my Toshiba genio - don't want to go through that experience again -

I paid the "No committment" $499 price for my 8125 and don't want to brick it - or even come close -

I don't think I even know how to flash a ROM anymore -

Quetion - is the an program App. that will give BT stereo without a ROM flash?

Great work &

It seems as thought Faria (one of the creators) has bricked his phone and last i heard still hasn't got it working which has caused the slowdown in news. Also shogunmark has been pretending to be busy with work and all :P

I am sure work will pick up on it once they get things settled down on their ends!

you are correct, i have been busy, and hate that i have neglected this for a while, but i am also kinda stuck a little until faria can get me the new os with the corrected bugs.. but i am understandable on delays and havent bugged him, i know how time consuming it is and also know whats its like to have a wife, lol... Plus i seem to be stuck trying to get a d@mn G4 rom to work, i even consulted with molski who does have a working G4 rom, but still nothing... if i had a G4 it would be easier, but then again if i had a G4 i wouldnt be happy, lol

The reason you are getting this error is cause you are trying to update your phone which is a 4G and the ROM Update is 3G, and i am not certain but pretty sure that shogunmark and the gang are still working out the bugs in the 4G ROM.

I am a newbie so bare with me please. I upgraded my 8125 and worked perfectly. No problems at all. I just bought another one and try to upgrade it too but looks like it did not work.

Right now when it boots it shows this:
ipl 1.08
spl 1.08

os 2.26.10.2

and for some reason the GSM does not shows neither the phone works.

When it boots up for some reason it does not detects the USB cable since I tried to connect it to try to upgrade it again.

Last thing is that the battery icon at the bottom right corner shows as it was connected to a power source even though it is not.

I will appreciate your help.

You need to flash a full 2.x rom first then flash this one. This one was made G4 safe and does not include the bootloaders. You can't flash a 2.x rom into a 1.x bootloader as I found out earlier in this thread. Your battery will go dead quickly if you keep playing with it as it will not charge in this state. You will have to boot into bootloader mode (hold down voice and camera while powering on (I think) you should see the RGB screen with USB in the lower corner) with the USB cable intact and flash a 2.x rom that includes the bootloaders. At that point you can reflash with this rom as normal and all will be well.

Has this rom now died?no

we all have been buzy with life ,wife kids etc, and motherf"ker computer and hardrive failures.[drop mine in the floor, shit]

about g4 devices.

have anyone asked this question to himself?
why does the official roms HAS a matching ipl/spl and OS?the imei also interacts with ipl/spl ,cid and radio.
because they work togheter,in g3 devices it seems not to make much diference.but in g4 devices i bet it does.
the reason that g4 devices were intrduced was because of this site.so many briked phones went back that they decided to to somethig about it.their solucion? the g4 security.

Shogunmark,

I've been searching, without much luck, for something I saw somewhere on here, but can't seem to find it now. It had a way to fool the upgrade process into thinking the rom you are flashing is lower than the one you are trying to flash, pretty much no matter what rom you are using. It involved copying a RUU file, changing the .exe upgrade file to .rar, etc........

I've tried that process, but it doesn't seem to work, could you be so kind as to enlighten me on this process, how it's done, and what's used?

Thanks,

Faria,

I take it it was removable,Hardrives dont seem to bounce well they do they.
If it was a Maxtor you probably got clicking heads now, (Oh Dear)

Buy a seagate we sell loads of them and failures are very low, saying that thou they have recently bought Maxtor out and both Seagate and MAxtor drives now look extremly similar.

If you are using Push mail like Emoze it will disconnect your phone to update or sync. Could be other such programs doing so

I upgraded to this ROM yesterday and then flashed the phone with the 2.47.11 radio ROM.

Most everything is working well except for Google Mobile Maps. When I go to www.google.com/gmm it says my device is not supported. It allows me to try two generic versions. One for a high end phone and one for a consumer phone.

I tried the version for a high end phone and it will display the street views, but not the satelite view. It says this device is not capable of displaying a JPEG. Using the standard Cingular 2.25.11 ROM Google Maps recognizes my phone as an HTC 8125 and I can download a version that allows all the features to work.

Is there something in the registry that can be set so that Google recognizes my phone as an HTC 8125 and works correctly?

Cool I remember during the summer Google Maps wouldn't work at all. I have the Shogun rom and I just went to that site. I chose the high end phone option and your right can't see the Satellite view.

I guess I needed a reason to upgrade to the HP6925 as this update screwed me up big time. Everything appeared to be find during the update....just a very long time to reboot and setup. After setup and reboot again, very slow. The telephone function is completely gone. Icon is there, just nothing happens. Additionally appears to be processing allot of STUFF? as the processor seems to be being tasked as the screen taps are very inconsistent. I tried to restore to my 2.17 AKU2 ROM without success. The USB is no longer operative at all. I have tried to use the IR port, but it is too flaky, and bluetooth is bluetooth....no consistency; can't active sink here either. It no longer tells me about the battery, just empty information. No lights to even tell if it is charging in the cradle, or even just a power supply.

What is really bizarre, is when I tried to restore 2.17 for IR, it read the ROM as 1.2.....someone switch the LINKS load???? IR just bombs after it starts to initiate the load. Then have to go through recovery by removing battery.

Like pissing in a can with a 40mph wind :-(

HELP I HAVE TRIED ALL RESOURCES........lucky I backed up all my data, as I would have been SCREWED even more.

This particular problem has been tackled many times on this board... taking the time to read will save you tons of headaches in the future... First of all with any cooked rom on here there is a disclaimer that it may or may not work and it might even brick your phone... However, your particular problem is easily solveable if you take the time to read... as stated previously.. I DID NOT INCLUDE THE 2.XX BOOTLOADERS, i did not want people with a G4 device to brick their phone... Taking the time to read this you would have noticed that and also noticed the solution... Now when you downgrade to a 1.x rom to unlock it etc, you have to flash a rom with the updated bootloader (i usually tell people just to flash an official OEM rom) after doing that it will update your IPL/SPL to 2.xx from there you can flash any rom you want with no problems.. This is the last time i am going to offer this help, i cant count how many times i have helped people with this... i will even lay it out real nice for you and will type slowly so that everyone can understand...

1. Download the official cingular rom from www.htcamerica.net (http://www.htcamerica.net)
2. turn off your phone
3. hold down the camera button while turning on (this will place you in the bootloader.
4. plug your phone into the usb cable (after doing so you will see USB on the lower left hand side of the screen, if you dont see it look on the other side, maybe you had right and left mixed up)
5. run the official update.
6. after its successful make sure your phone works correctly
7. plug the phone back into the USB and now run my rom
8. after its done everything should work as intended

9. then sell your phone on ebay for something simplier and easy to use, may i suggest a firefly (http://www.fireflymobile.com/) something that doesnt involve lots of reading.

THANKS FOR YOU HELP AND FOR PUTTING UP WITH US ULTRA NOOBS. I THOUGHT THAT I HAD READ ALMOST EVERYTHING ON THIS ROM, BUT I GUESSED WRONG. THANKS ONCE AGAIN.

Glad to see ya back! How's the 8525?

this thing is smok'n.. however the UMTS coverage in st. louis is spotty and unstable.. but then again its not officially up yet either... and for having a 400meg processor its a little slower than i imagined. But a d@mn nice phone.. and the keyboard layout is different and weird to adjust to after using the 8125

I gotta say I'm very disappointed in the author of this thread for what seems like empty promises. This thread has went from 3 pages a day to no posts in days. You got some of us worked up for what seems like nothing?

Well the guy does have a personal life, and i think that his life probably is a little more important than finishing up a ROM so that you can use it for a week and then flash to a newer one.

with a comment like that, I don't think that he will want to finish it. Why don't you try to create a fast stable rom and you see how long it takes......

Seems to me that the people at Microsoft and Cingular are getting paid to write fast stable ROM's and you see the shit they put out. This guy is taking time out of his personal life to create a ROM for people like you who have the audacity to sit here and gripe and complain about how long its taking; did we mention he's not being paid? You're probably one of those people who think they're too good for minimum wage; so you just sit at home waiting for someone to come to your house and offer you a job making 70 grand a year.. The least you could do is be patient and show some respect. Maybe you should become an elite programmer and write your own ROM, you could call it "skiddyROM"

You guys make me laugh. I was just stating my opinion. Get over yourself. I have never flashed. Just look at my signature. I was looking forward to this being my first flash because of the traffic and excitement that this post was causing. I'll not reply to this post again so don't bother.

So, let me just stop my busy life to satisfy you? I will just need you to explain to my pregnant wife (who is due in about 2 weeks), my 1yr old daugher(whome i only see 2 hours a day) and my 4 and 6yr old step-daughter(whom i only see on weekends when i am off work) why i cant spend time with them, while you are at it go ahead and explain to my employer who works me 40+ hours a week that i need to take some time off so that i may please you, and if your gonna go through all of that trouble could you please compensate me for my time? After all of that i should be able to have a rom for you in a few days...

Well I may be speaking out of turn but I know that ShogunMark upgraded to a 8525, so I am not sure how much more is going to happen with this phone. I personally am running the latest Molski.biz (based on a strong recommendation from a Dr. I trust) and I have to say that it is a great ROM. It is pretty clean as far as extra add-ins but that gives you more room to install what you want. Rock solid as far as reliability and quick to boot.

Thanks, I checked that out and I may go for it. Don't know if I want to mess with it though. Would it still work immediatly for cingular, or is some configuration needed? It looked like he was using a different unit/service on his website.

I have Cingular US service and it works just fine immediately after flash. You will have to search the forums for the Cingular gprs/mms cabs or go to the cingular site and use the support section there to find the steps to re-configure your MMS/GPRS settings, nothing major and only takes a minute or two to do.
