Just thought that I will share my experience with flashing HTC MTeOR shiped with ROM 1.13.xxx.x to DOPOD 595 ROM (WWE) located at:
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/MTeoR/dopod%20595/rom/WWE/ruu_bree100_1.15.707.3_dopodwwe_ship.exe
Upgrade is straight forward as with HTC Hermes:
Go ahead and launch the ROM updater on your desktop computer. At some stage installer will come up with invalid vendor id error. Do not disconnect your device and re-launcn the ROM updater. This time the ROM update process will happily start...
I am still going through ROM update as I type this message. I will let forum know as soon as I am all done here.
UPDATE:
No problems during or after update.

1. Accessories --> Network wizard
auto configuration of connections for specific GSM carrier.
2. Streaming media player (HTC)
i guess this one is for, ummm.. streaming of your media
3. bunch of documetn viewers
ClearVue Document, PDF, PPT, WorkSheet
4. system font looks a bit rough though. I had much better loking ssytem font before this update.
5. languages availble: English USA and Chineese only.
6. more findings :)
in /windows dir i have found:
SetHSDPA.exe
SetHSDPA_Disable.lnk ( 99#"SetHSDPA.exe" /Disable )
SetHSDPA_Enable.lnk ( 99#"SetHSDPA.exe" /Enable )
i have seen information that HTC Breeze does not support HSDPA. Now, after seeing these files in DOPD 595 ROM I am not so sure about it anymore :) I can not check HSDPA status of my device since i do not have HSDPA available where I live yet.
UPDATE:
just noticed that SetHSDPA_Enable.lnk is also located in \winodws\startup by default.
this makes clear to me that HTC Breeze HSDPA supports HSDPA.

Hi,
Interesting findings! Can you post the HSDPA files separately?
Thanks!

HSDPA files are attached to this message.
Also, I was wondering if DataDisconnect.exe located in \windows folder can be used for disconnetion of GPRS /EDGE/other data connections?
I know that some users are complained that pressind "end" button (red) will not disconnect their data connections anymore.
at least according to DataDisconnect.mui:

Also, to improve quality of system fonts I had to set this in registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\ClearType]
"Quality"=dword:00000001

Sorry to keep bringing on the asks, but can we have datadisconnect file as well?
I'll try these files out on my Mteor and let you know how I go!

No Probs! here it goes...
i have no idea how to use it. My best guess is that reverse engineering of these files should bring some light on this issue :)

Hi all.
The rom update file is gone?
I am very eager to try this rom, the current shipped mteor rom has major issues with radio stack. Bad coverage and it gets stuck at "searching..." a lot.
Any issues with that on the dopod release?

Great! Thanks! Was a bit to fast when I checked the FTP. I will investigate if the radio stack gets any better or if it's a carrier problem.

just an update regarding DataDisconnect.exe :
It really does work!
to prove this :
1. initiate gprs/edge/umts/etc/ connection
2. launch \windows\DataDisconnect.exe on you MTeoR
3. screen will offer you to choose the connection that you would like to terminate.
4. place the tick and press soft button to terminate.
5. connection is terminated.
This can be used for simple "data disconnect" home screen plug-in, etc.
DataDisconnect.exe can not be called while no connection is established.

Just upgraded my MTeoR to the Dopod 595 firmware, and on the face of it, it seems much more stable. One thing I have noticed since getting this handset though (both sets of firmware) is what seems to be a lack of EDGE connectivity - firstly no 'E' indicator (even with the registry hack), and secondly, the modulation scheme doesn't sound like EDGE either. Am going to put it on a piece of test kit to find out! It is always possible that those idiots at Cingular have screwed the provisioning up... again.
Good idea Motin on putting together a thread with all the various versions in the field. I will certainly contribute when/if I come across a newer flash.
Finally, am I the only person who feels a little screwed over by the mighty HTC? I am not best pleased to have purchased yet another full price (non-discounted) handset from them, only to find a month or two later that they've launched a "branded" version that has the front camera on it. There was no press release that this was coming, and after all the fiasco regarding the multi-band UMTS (another reason I bought this phone!) I think they need a kick up the backside! What is coming next? The phone we all wanted in the first place, just gently slipped into the marketplace?!
Rant over. Nice piece of kit, shame about the company...

Got the dopod rom installed on my MTeor and got t-mobile to enable HSDPA on my Sim and I now have between 500Kbps - 1600Kbps... data previously I was getting upto 384kbps. Looks like the dopod rom has unlocked or implemented HSDPA on the MTeor.
Dopod rom very stable and quicker than the shipped rom.

Disregard my post above.
I now have a MTeoR and Dopod and imate rom.
1 Which should I install?
2 Which is the best?
3 Do they both have HSDPA enabled?
4 Are there any things worse than on HTC's ROM?
5 Is the original HTC rom available anywhere incase I want to go back?

1. Don't bother with the HTC ROM, as it'll be the same one as you already have installed. No HSDPA support
2. The Dopod one if you want HSDPA. The HTC one if you have a Mteor already and don't need HSDPA. Your mileage may vary- I prefer the simple look of the HTC Mteor ROM, although the Dopod one works well and is stable
3. See (1)
4. A bit slower. But if you have a Mteor, a better "fit" for the hardware (eg does not have settings for the front camera, as the Mteor does not have one!!
5. Ermmm, yes. Posted above. But see (1). This is not an upgrade.

well I installed the dopod ROM last night. It seems fine, but too chinesey for me.
Then I installed the Imate ROM. It too has HSPDA enabled. I'll keep this ROM on my MTeoR and carry out a few tests. But so far so good.
Nothing can ever be as bad as the HTC MTeoR ROM.

I have now updated my phone with the imate rom.
Just like the HTC ROM it looses all of the connecteion settings and email accounts and the battery life is just as crap.
This phone is a pile of junk.
Period.

Pagemakers, have you considered sending your phone for repair, or exchanging it for another Mteor? I ask because I am getting 3 days battery life on Voda 3G network, and have never had the problem with the email settings (I am using push 8.30-5.30 each day, and restart the phone every other day). Just a thought- that maybe there's a few handsets out there with something wrong, rather the the whole lot of them?
However, I do agree there are a whole load of other bugs that HTC should just sort out asap.

Hi guys
Just got myself a dopod 595, Im in Australia (couldn't wait for it). Anyway I'm new to the windows moblie scene & I was thinking about fidding with the ROM (trying the Imate one) & I noticed I have a newer dopod one than the one on the ftp.
I have 1.15.709.3
The FTP has 1.15.707.3
Is there a way i can extract mine so i can go back to it if i want to? (& to share with you good people....obviously ;)
Cheers.

Hello,
is the dopod or i-mate rom with german language support? Sorry my english is not good.
Many thanks for answers

I-Mate WWE ROM has inbuilt support for German language. You can switch locale and regional settings any time.
DOPOD 595 WWE does not support for German language - English ( American) and Chinese only.
cheers!

How did you get a different Rom to install? I have a Dopod & when I try to install the imate ROM it stops before finishing, saying that it is not for this phone.
-Edit- Nevermind, All sorted. I just re-run the installer after it quits & it does it the second time around
