I've just upgraded to a Wizard from a Blue Angel.

One of the first things I checked was whether or not my new phone is SIM-locked. Unfortunately the SIM I inserted was for an account which had a voicemail waiting.

When the phone powered up, up pops the voicemail icon and a notifuication that I have a voicemail waiting.

I now can't get rid of it!

Is there an easy way? Just dismissing the voicemail notification does not work?

You have to actually check your voice mail and save/delete it

Unfortunately the voicemail had been deleted on my other phone before I noticed the icon.. so I ended up having to leave another voicemail on that account then putting the SIM back in the new phone... I'll explain.

Orange SIM had voicemail.
Orange SIM inserted in Wizard.
Wizard pops up an icon for voicemail (not noticed at this point)
Orange SM replaced in another phone (an Ericsson).
Orange Voicemail checked and deleted on Ericsson.
Voicemail left on O2 SIM which was inserted in Wizard.
O2 voicemail checked and deleted on Wizard.
Voicemail icon remained!
Left voicemail on Orange SIM.
Re-inserted Orange SIM into Wizard.
Checked and deleted voicemail from Orange account via Wizard.
Icon finally gone.

Bit of a long winded hassle, but its gone now.

I had this problem before. Use another phone and leave yourself a voicemail, wait for your phone to get the notifaction (or about 5 minutes) then call and check your voicemail.

Fixed it for me.
