I wanted to know if everything works fine and if you are happy with the experience (sound quality, responsiveness, etc.).
I tried it briefly at a store and everything seemed to work except when I received a call I could not hear the person talking. It may just be that I needed to do a soft reset but if I know it is working with the Tytn for someone else I will buy it.
Thanks!

No Good.
1. Sound Quality is very poor even with the A2DP hack. Far from my M600i. It's much better with the original usb headset. so I guess maybe Sony Ericsson has a different A2DP encoding implement or have some tricks on the media player?
2. Only the Call Key and Volume keys work. I don't know if there any PPC music player support DS970's music keys.

1. After registry twiks the sound quality is super.. seems even better than native usb headset.. Only one problem I couldn't solve so far.. it is skipping every 40-50 sec. I am using now original rom from o2 germany. I am going to try imate rom or at least new radio rom. Let see, if it helps :)
2. All keys are working with native Windows Media Player.

I am using it with PocketPlayer. Works fine with every button. Sound quality is super after the hack. But I got the same problem as SWayf, music got skippy every while...

Has anyone tried to pair this headset with a Hermes and simultaneously with a PC that supports the bluetooth headset profile so that it is possible to switch from VoIP (eg Skype) and the mobile phone easily?

Following on my previous post, I now have the headset in hand and although I can connect to my PC and phone simultaneously using the multipoint functionality, the PC connection is only for music playback, ie the microphone is disabled, so I cannot use the headset for VoIP calls. The Bluetooth Service Class is listed as "Audio Sink" rather than "Headset". I don't suppose anyone knows of a way to activate the microphone in this mode?

Really regret buying it.. Tried the A2DP tweak with the Hermes Tweaker but no luck. Better soundquality but sound keeps skipping every 30-40 seconds, useless for listening to music... I would got nuts having to listen to those skips that often..
Anyone found any tweak to get rid of the skipping problem?
Buttons works fine for controlling Tytn audio quality is ok and I love the looks of it, if I just could get rid of that skipping..

How sick is this! I found this tip on another forum.
Try installing this taskmanager, start wmp and then the task manager, close any apps you don't need to use and then set it to monitor system load.
http://www.iaccarino.de/silvio/ppcstuff.htm
As long as it's running NO SKIPPING so far, have been listening to three full songs so far....
Which of you gurus can figure this one out??? So it must be possible to fix the problem by emulating what this software does??

I've just bought one of these headsets. God, the sound is atrocious. Can someone please fill me in on the hack that was mentioned earlier? I've got the Fit4cat ap on my Hermes but the sound is still rubbish even after adjusting the the "improve BT A2DP sound quality" setting to "excellent". Is this the hack that was referred to earlier or is there another I am not aware of??? Please, can anyone help with this. I feel I have wasted a serious amount of cash on this :(

Hi!
Got hermes and ds970 to work (almost) perfectly
I did this, step by step:
-Hard reset hermes (got o2 xda trion with latest htc wwe rom 1.35 radio 1.18)
-installed ms voice command 1.6
-installed beta version from jetware and their hermes fix
(all files can be found here http://www.jetwaremobile.com/beta.htm don't forget to soft-reset after installation of the "code signing certificate")
-installed a2dpfix
-get HTweakC and set a2dp quality to "medium" do not set it any higher, as the sound quality will be better on medium than on e.g. "excellent"
Configure Jetware Software to show CallerID etc...
Working:
-CallerID shows name!! AND number (alternating) everytime
-A2dp quality is quite good (could be better, but definately very usable)
-Voice command quite usable (still rarely switches back to device speaker)
-very stable bluetooth connection
-remote control of windows media player
not working:
-display doesnt show song title, but i guess we'll never get that on a wm5 device...hope i'm wrong.
Wanna thank everyone on the hermes gps thread...keep up the good work!!

so you can stream media player to the headset too as well as controlling VC1.6? Does VC1.6 fire up when pressing headset button?

Hi!
When I'm listening to music, and press the headset button:
-Mediaplayer goes on pause
-after 2-3 seconds I hear the voice command ding-sound and can say my command. Then hear the lady from microsoft ;-) respond (on long responses the sound sometimes switches back to the device speaker such as when the lady asks me what number-entry to dial and there are 5 numbers in the contact.)
-then switches back to playing mediaplayer for about 2 seconds until the phone initiates the call and then pauses mediaplayer again and switches the headset to the call.
-after the call sound again goes to a2dp and the song resumes playing.
Hope it stays that way...I'll be very very carefull what programs I install.
programs I got installed at this point are:
spb diary
prssreader
navigon mobile navigator 5
google maps (the new not java one)
wakeitup
pocketstreets 2005
tcpmp
clearvue pdf
spb gprs monitor
totalcommander
+the ones mentioned in my post above
(all programs, if not mentioned otherwise, are the latest versions)
oh BTW I tried setting a2dp quality to "low". I can't hear the difference to "medium" and think it will be less stress on the cpu.
what does not work, is also that the announciation of new messages from voice command 1.6 when set to "announce only over bluetooth" still come out of the device speaker.
Hope it works for you, too.

got myself a ds970 and followed your instructions Brevi. music streams brilliantly but i can't transfer calls to the headset, make calls from the headset nor can i get VC1.6 to fire up when i press the headset button. if i start VC1.6 on phone, then i can say command on the headset and that works.
Do you install the JetDial app?
What settings did you configure in the Jetware settings?
any ideas?
i have the "new" btagext.dll which fixed VC1.5 and mono headset - do you think that's the issue?
Update: Aha, i uninstalled the JetDial app (stupid or what) and now everything works except starting VC1.6 using the headset button. i suspect, JetDial has left some reg keys that need removing. No idea what though

Hi! Yeah, you probably need to do a hard-reset to get a clean install of all the little "helpers". I'm confident it will work then.
Tell me if you get the "play reminders only over bluetooth handsfree" option in vc1.6 to work maybe with the btagext.dll. I'm away from my main computer for a couple of days and unfortunately can't mess with my phone till I get back.

Be careful where you buy these, as there are a lot of fakes on the market.
If you're paying around $65-75 USD, most likely they're fake. They sound horrible, and have limited function.
I'd suggest buying from a reputable company with a good return policy.
Dallas2you.com is selling fakes.

I suggest not upgrading with the AKU3.3 Test rom, A2DP sound is really bad, a lot of hissing, crakling, no matter A2DP fix and different settings in Hermes tweaker. With 1.18 Swedish rom I had before anf the tweaks sound was really enjoyable on the HBH-DS970.

Indeed, I was one who bought fakes off of eBay ($65 from a Power Seller w/98/99% positive feedback). I had a good working set to compare to, and there were many differences - but stereo sound quality, call quality was the stinker.
See this website for pix of fakes/real ones.

Ordered a good working set from mobileplanet for $95 + ship. They work well!

Try the widcomm stack.
It's best to install this right after a hardreset! No skipping and perfect soundquality :) mutch better then the M$ stack!
The widcomm stack can be found here:

Skipping is not a problem since Sleuths A2DP fix. Sound ws fine pre aku 3.3 rom.
Isn't this widcomm stack higly experimental still? Does it work on Aku 3.3 rom?

jompao,
sound became a great after changing registry here:
[HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Bluetooth/A2DP/Settings]
Value name=BitPool; Value data=48 (Decimal)
Value name=MaxSupportedBitPool; Value data=48 (Decimal)
Modify, Value name=UseJointStereo; Value data=0 (Decimal, Originally 1)
You should using A2DPfix of course.
These settings are same in AKU2.3 and in AKU3.3

The trick that worked for me with skipping is: SleuthsA2DPFix.cab
(I also make sure all running programs have stopped). I only get a skip when I've walked a little too far away.
I was wondering if you by chance got a fake pair of DS970's? Here is a link to someone who took the time to photo genuine and fake together:
http://213.19.178.16/se/
I ended up with fake ones off of eBay, and the reason I figured it out is they weren't awesome. My nephew had access to some good ones, and we were able to compare and the good ones not only sounded decent, got they were built with many differences (see the link). Other than sound not being good, and without having a good set to compare to - the only thing I can say to check: Does your lanyard material seem stiff? Twisted? When you put the earbuds in, do the cards gently fall to the side, or stick up and in your face? Does your user manual have wavy print? Did you get a 2 prong wall charger or a European charger with a white adapter? And, is the gray case lettering perfect or a little sloppy?

I just did these settings manuallay and lo and behold sound is now Ok again! It looks like the HTCTweaker 2.1b does not handle the A2DP fix correctly as it did in the 1.1 version.
I will try to find the bitpool values that sounds best to me (using 58 now)
I've found that using 52 for instead of the 48 values produces the clearest sound with the least hissing artefacts to my ears.

Hi! Did anybody try wm6 on the hermes with the DS970?
If "yes":
-How is the sound quality?
-Does CallerID (Name/Number) work (with/without hacks)?
-Does Voice Command activation/notification work?
-Song title on display? (I don't have very high hopes on that part :-) )

jompao, do you have the wm5 aku3.3 rom or the wm6 rom?
and...since you are using widcomm stack, have you happened to face any problems using bluetooth?
also, have you tried watching divx movies with your tytn while the audio is being streamed to ds970? any success?
bought a 8525 and a ds970...can't wait for them to arrive:rolleyes:

Using Aku3.3 wm5 at the moment. After installing a navigation software the widcomm bluetooth can no longer be started... Well I'd say the widcom stack is not ready for primetime yet, but I was interested in testing it before installing the wm6, waiting for next release version of XDA Live before installing it.
Btw. when getting a call you can not answer/hangup with the headset button when using the Widcom stack, which defeats the purpose of using a wireless headset to me.

DS970 works well in Elf 2.1 WM6.
Here is my settings:

BitPool= 48 (Decimal)
MaxSupportedBitPool = 48 (Decimal)
UseJointStereo = 1
Pocket player 3.2+TomTom 6+BT338 GPS at same time = nice sound, no skipping

I have HTC TyTN Official Finnish ROM from myqtek.fi
OS: 5.1.465 Build 15673.3.3.1 (AKU 3.3)
ROM version: 2.11.255.2
ROM date: 03/15/07
Radio version: 1.38.00.10
Protocol version: 32.71.7020.12H
ExtROM version: 2.11.255.103
Bought DS970, works nice after some tweaking.
Pairing was quite painless. Worked nice. You get a little music icon notification that it's connected. The icon disappears after pressing it or the notification message.
Only had to set the registry settings, a2dpfix and JETware for the caller ID.
My registry settings:
[HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Bluetooth/A2DP/Settings]
BitPool= 52 (Decimal)
MaxSupportedBitPool = 52 (Decimal)
UseJointStereo = 0 (0 for real stereo)
Then installed JETware BT HFP Extension 1.31b.
Only enabled Caller ID and Voice Dialing from the advanced settings, disabled the others. I don't use the voice dial, so I haven't tested it yet.
Then I installed Sleuth's A2DPFix (Silvio Iaccarino's Task Manager also works, but crashes occasionally).
Soft reset and that's it. Sound is good compared to the hands free that came with the phone (and the ones which I modified and installed koss spark plugs on..). And I have no skipping in sound. There is a little hiss, but barely noticeable. The buttons work as should.
When talking to the phone, the hiss is more noticeable but not disturbing.
So sound quality is good after registry edit.
Haven't tried the voice command (yet).
Caller ID works if you enable it in the JETware.
Song title doesn't work, but that's not really a problem is it ;)
Haven't tried any movies, 'cause I don't watch them on my TyTN.
Song stops when you get a call, the answer button works and it hangs up if you press it again.
Rerouting the ringtone to BT doesn't work. You only hear some beeps instead and the phone rings normally.
If you press the green phone button when getting a call, the sound is rerouted to the phone, if you want to enable bluetooth for the incomming call just press the call button on the hands free.
That's about it. I like them, the price was about 90 euros from a reliable store (not fakes) here in Finland.
