It's not a problem of the ROM. I did the exact same thing. It's a problem of the old bootloader with the newer ROM. I finaly got it corrected by going into bootloader mode and updating the ipl/spl to 2.xx. This corrected the problem and
the phone works great with Shogun's rom. Love it.

I had installed the same software for a T Mobile MDA for a Cingular Network. The ROM disabled my sync and I was shitting bricks because I could not update my ROM, nor make calls from my wizard.
step 1. turn off the device by holding down the power button on top of the phone.
Step 2. press the camera button (right hand side) and the power button at the same time to on the device.
Step 3. This puts the device into USB mode, which you will now plug in the USB cable. (the word "USB" will appear on the bottom of the pocket pc screen when it is configured to the computer.) Active Sync will not sync up to the pocket pc (remains grayed out on the computers title bar.)
step 4. download another ROM version. I downloaded cingular 2.26 shotgun (different version from your ROM, but made for cingular devices) FROM HERE ON, DO NOT DISCOUNT YOUR DEVICE FROM THE COMPUTER!!
step 5. Make sure the device is charged more than 50%, then click and run the ROM. Follow the update prompts; and the computer will recognize that the pocket pc is connected to the usb port, but active sync will be grayed out. Allow the software to be installed. remember, do not disconnect, because you could do serious damage to the bios bank chips and never be able to boot.
once it installs the software, you will be relieved to see the NEW ROM on the boot screen and you'll notice everything works beautiful again :)
YOU CAN NEVER BRICK A WIZARD, just place in it USB MODE and start over. For the intelligent people, backup your information with Active Sync if you dare to experienment with new ROMs.
GOOD LUCK MY FRIEND,
Adam

Wouldn't it be better to release your ROMs without the IPL/SPL then? Would also save you the trouble of having separate G3 and G4 versions--please don't misunderstand me, I appreciate the work you and everyone else on this forum do with no expectation of payment, but it would seem we might all be better off ROM-upgrading without and IPL/SPL, at the very least it might save some noob like naeemwaqas who doesn't know any better...just my suggestion.

here is your answer from me... it has mostly been covered..
YES hold your camera button while powering on to put in bootloader mode
DO NOT FLASH MY ROM.. yet
YES download an official rom so that you can get the updated bootloaders
after that is complete then you can flash my rom...
I DID NOT include updated bootloaders because i didnt want for a noob with a G4 to brick their phone by flashing my rom.. my future releases will be labeled as G3 and G4.. if a noob screws it up from there then its not my fault

If only people would do their research before jumping into such dangerous thing..

but also your looking at this the wrong way... if the ipl/spl would have been included and if he had a G4 then he would now have a brick... however he is at a point to where he can recover from... ;)

GOOD LUCK MY FRIEND,
AdamYou sir, are an idiot! And shouting such nonsense just proves my point. Please run away... and very fast before someone actually believes your bu!!!shit and bricks their device!
You sir got lucky, you obviously don't have a G4 phone, cause I double dog dare you to try such insanity on a G4.
I've flashed more phones than the average guy and I'm STILL careful.
I'm sure that you probably meant no harm but if you noticed, none of the chef's here have stated such BS...

Whoa, easy there samurai! My suggestion was directed at Molski, who as far as I can tell still packages up IPL/SPL in his ROMs unlike you. Thanks for pointing this crucial difference out to those who might not know otherwise.
And again, for Molski, this is just a suggestion--there have been plenty of ROM upgrades with IPL/SPL and the vast majority go fine, just seems like as a community we might want to consider doing things (like ROMs with no IPL/SPL for example) to protect newcomers. Now sure they might deserve it every now and again, and scaring the crap out of them might induce a healthy dose of "read before you leap", but could be avoided for this one situation.

which is why i dont... i may know quite a bit, but im not a master, i dont know it all (dont tell my wife) and dont include ipl/spl for that simple fact.. but can garuantee this guy will read more before experimenting again... its a good scare factor, and a good way to welcome him to the board :D
