Great ROM !
One problem: JMM doesn't work correctly (was the same with Version 94)
For me no big problem since I can install a working JMM-Version.
If desired, I can attach the CAB that works.

Use the MaUpgradeNo ID Tool if you want to select which part of the ROM you like to install. If you are going to ask how to use the file, start reading from page 11 to find a link on how to use it.

I am having exactly the same problem with T-Mobile UK.
I Can send MMS, but not receive. It happens with both Ivan's ROM and this one, with the new MMS software. In AKU2 roms with older MMS software it is fine...
Any ideas?
Jason,
I cannot vouch for the MMS settings (still have to configure it) but I was wondering: do you still have the drops in connectivity with this ROM?

I am not sure what your guys are experiencing but my keyboard backlight works fine (the actual keyboard lighting up). Maybe you should try covering up the little sensor or going into a dark room to verify.
Anyone else having this issue?
Thanks,
Yes, it's OK now, after soft reset...

Great after about 12hrs of use.
Only comments
NO backlight on keyboard - even though covered up sensor
Had inital trouble getting into contacts, kept flashing up contacts screen then returned to today screen - this seems to have sorted itself.
Ive intstalled it twice now, and works fine (1st time i restored my SPB bak up file and over wrote most of it DOH!)
Even TomTom comes straight through my bluetooth headphones!

I've tried 1.90.96, but I'm still unable to use Bluetooth PAN.
Although I've configured Bluetooth PAN driver in Network Adapters tab, it seems that there's no way to use it.
I'm missing something?

I've installed and seems pretty smooth and quick.
a few issues apperared though...
1- backlight on keyboard did not light up - solved after soft reset
2 - Smart dialing does not allow to dial by double tapping on the contact name.
3 -Video call is option is not visible when you click on the contacts name.
Any suggestions on how to solve are appreciated

Please check the first page of this post, as it will contain the link and information for this ROM release.
Happy flashing,

Thank you for your great project.
Yesterday I'v downloaded it, changed *.nbf headers to QTEK_001 and installed on my Universal. After a hard reset remained 31.74 MB RAM for running programs, booting time was about 35 sec.
On the other hand, phone options work no more, it exiting every time, without any changing and smartdialer does'nt work.
I don't know, it's a general problem, or only my qtek9000 environment has this symptom. To check it, for qtek9000 modified package available on my website.

OK so I'm completely confused. Just bought a XDA Exec to replace my MDA. Upgraded that a number of times by just running the exe. Numerous threads suggest the process is more complicated for the Universal run MaUpgrade etc.
Can I just run the 1.9 exe and upgrade my Exec. It'll be on Vodafone or T-Mobile so don't care about having the O2 extended ROM.
Perhaps I'm trying to make it more difficult than it is?

I noticed a minor cosmetic flaw in the signal icon (The previous release had this also). When connected to GPRS, a small [G] Appears in the signal icon, but when connecting to UMTS, it wil also show a [G] instead of a [U]. The icon next to it, the big [G] or [U] however works fine :)

You misunderstood. The .exe file provided by JWright only works directly on I-Mate branded HTC Universals. So to be able to install it in a NON-IMate branded Universal, you have to extract the 10 files off from the original .exe file, and add then run the MaUpgrade NO ID file, to be able to install it properly.

Hello.
I have a comment on the information about the upgrades.
Actually, both Ivan and You, keep having the Same comments on what has changed over the last Betas. In my case (and for most people), I have installed Beta 1.90.94 on my Qtek 9000 with the minor problems mentioned by most people here.
I would need to know what the exact changes are from 1.90.94 to 1.90.94... None of what was mentioned on the first page, are things that differ from 1.90.94 to 1.90.96, and all of them were on 1.90.94.
So could we Actually Know the differences between these betas?
Thanks again for your great effort and time.
EDIT: For those that might ask: I am asking the above because I am quite satisfied with this Beta. I can see that RADIO 1.13 is on the new one, but I had it and didn't really like it... 11 seems more stable. So, I may want to upgrade the OS (remaining on Radio 11 though) BUT i need to know the differences 1st to see if it is worth, and 2nd they seem to have too little changes, that one could use SPB Backup to RESTORE a file made with 1.90.94. Is that true? Could someone suggest If I can restore a backup of 1.90.94 to 1.90.96? It's not a major OS change...

I seem to have the same thing here. Since the upgrade, my data connection seems more error prone, and often I need to soft reset the device in order to be able to launch a new data connection. Could this be related to the 1.13 radio or the new ROM?

Hm. You followed that procedure with deleting the POP accounts, using the UpgradeData file etc etc?
Does it REALLY work? Does it also restore SMS/MMS etc???
Also, do you Hard reset or Soft reset before you create the UpgradeData file? It says to Hard reset... but what use would it be if you hard reset your device first and it contains no data...

The Unlock Ext ROM Utility is supposed to be installed to your device to Unlock the Ext ROM (as the name implies). You don't have to do anything about the Ext ROM files unless you are cooking your own ROM.

@congogr
I use the procedure exactly as Sprite puts it on their website. So I did a hard-reset before creating the upgrade file. This doesn't matter, as you will upgrade afterr the hard-reset anyhow. I restored including PIM data. This workes as soon as I was on the new AKU3-s. It did not work from AKU2 to AKU3, I had to sybc with outlook as the PIM database structure apparently changed.
I always delete my SMS-es and do not use MMS, so can give you no answer on this.
And regarding the data. You OF COURSE back-up your device before doing the hard-reset. The upgrade program will just need to know what was in ROM, therefore you need to capture this after a hard reset. After upgrading I normally immediately make a new upgrade file, then restore, then make a back-up so I can always go back to this state.

Of couse you can change the first boot screen.
Just check here, on Buzz's site: http://buzzdev.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=69&Itemid=1
There was a procedure before, which included something like a ROM upgrade (just the image though), so it performed a hardreset after that. The new one, just changes the logo so no hardreset follows.
P.S. Thanx Doodle for the Backup-Restore info. I might try it. Seems straightforward.

OK I have used all current ROMs, Ivan & this imate one on my O2 XDA Exec.
This is the best and most reliable with unsurpassed functionality speed & reliability.
After having read the whole forum and finding all the answers it was easy to selectively load what I wanted and customize the ext rom as well.
The problem is that if you are going to tamper with roms there is a presumed computing knowledge required. Lets say at least some DOS understanding & or basic operating system knowledge.
Supposed "Newbies" waste alot of our time with rediculous questions if you know what you are doing also considering the amount of training documentation available here & on wiki.
Then there is a group of lazy part users who just wont read the forum through and keep asking the same questions over & over & lover again. What is the search function for??? You cant be serious. What about voice commander 1.5 questions!! There are at least 20 posts that clearly indicate this application does not work with aku 3.2!!! What about "I cannot restore my PIM file..." Again how can you seriously expect compatability between application kit upgrades like this?? There are also at least 20 posts that explain this clearly!!
Poor Ivan even had to rename his auto run file so the clumsy clutzes out there would foul up their ext rom. So what happens, another group of "half readers" dont follow instructions then don't understand in another 20 posts why their auto run doesnt work!!
Then when a real question or point is posted it gets lost in the rubbish.
This a great rom complete with revised boot loader and value added applications.

frz,
The reason you cannot use mp3 ringtones is that you Windows media player is not the default player in your system. If you have TCPMP, PocketMusic or other third party media player installed, make sure they don't take over file associations from Media player. Than it definitely works in AKU 3.2 also, just like in AKU 2 ( I am using AKU 3.2 version .94 now ).
I hope this helps !

The purpose of a "forum" is asking questions for some, and providing simple answers for others. You're not on an advanced Ultra-Hight-Tech group with limited access to people who make their first steps. Also, those who you call rediculous, un-serious (stupid?) and clumsy clutzes, are those who will, in their turn Learn more and more of these devices, for you and me (so called Advanced users... yeah right) to help in other situations where we least expect it.
If you care THAT much about the information contained here, tell me WHY, Ivan, who is supposed to advance a new OS ROM version/revision, has AT LEAST ON HIS LAST 4 BETAS, the SAME question about the state of the G/U Icon. He doensn't care more about this as 'your Newbies' do. Even now on Beta 14, he writes that the state of G/U icon is Unknown!
Where are WE (again, the so-called advanced users) there? Ivan has over 30 pages, and not ONE mentions the true state of the icon on the latest Betas. Also "Bugs = 0 known"? OH COME ON!
Let's make it clear. We're here for FUN. Noone gets "paid", and Noone has any reason to follow your "quide" on how to write here. I've answered such "rediculous" (using YOUR words) questions and am happy to reply to them over and over again. If you wanna do something about it, then go Moderate the forum and remove all instances but one. It's FUN, and that's what it should always be. In general, of 100% of Information you get on the Internet, less than 5% is true and important, and neither you nor me can change that.
As for which beta is best, I don't believe there is such a way as Benchmarking all of them on all their features. And your personal opinion is that 96 is the best until now, which is acceptable, and I would UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES call is rediculous.

Congogr,
I am not a newbie, however I am far from advanced -
But I would like to say THANK YOU for finally establishing what this is - this forum is a community.
It's like learner drivers - all drivers on the road had to learn to drive and made mistakes. This community provides support for those learning and provides a source of referral to each other for the advanced users.
I'm sorry simon, but attitude like yours is not very welcoming - i'm sorry for being a "newbie" and sorry that I may "waste alot of [y]our time with rediculous questions" - I may be a "clumsy clutzes" but I feel rewarded with helping fellow "clumsy clutzes" and also providing feedback to advanced users.

Pssssssssssssssssssssss.....
CEASE-FIRE CEASE-FIRE.....
Am sure this is just a misunedrstanding :) ... Lets shake hands now, shall we.. hehee...
Sorry if am sounding geekish or :p rediculous :p ...

Hi
Do you how to tweak to unhide them. Thanks
1) Use a Registry Manager.
2) Go to -
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\ShowSim
3) Change the values of the key.
If your contacts are not showing it should be equal to "zero".
Change it to "one"..
Ofcourse, numerically, not in words..
0 = Hide
1 = Show
Hope it helps you dude...

Actually, do you have a link for a Downloadable Bootloader 2.01? Any 'reason' to change from 1.01? I tried finding 2.01 on internet sources (just like i found 1.01) but with no luck.
As far as I was told, AKU 2/3 have problems with bootloaders <1.00 so actually is there a reason to upgrade v1.01 to 2.01?
Thanx in advance. ;)

Hi,
I tried the 1.90.96 ROM and all works fine, but I have a problem when I install Active Sync 4.2 over W2K Service Pack 4; the PC loses all conectivity and I only can fix it restoring a previous backup. I've read the help from Active Sync download page without success. Someone has experienced this issue and knows a workaround?
Thanks and sorry for my english.
Not sure if it helps, I had similar problem before I installed the latest beta activesync - I am using activesync 4.5 beta now. Before that, I would drop off from my vpn connection the moment I plug in my phone.
I think it is because WM5 uses tcp/ip for active sync and it initilises a nic interface when it is plugged in, I think that was causing the problem you are experiencing.

No Bro,
Dunno where would you find BL ver 2.1...
I had flashed an AKU2 ROM in Feb'06 with BL ver 0.6 which made my device into a brick. Had to send it all the way to Dubai for repairs as warranty was Dubai Local Warranty.. When it came back, it came back with ver2.1
But as you said, as long as it is <1.0, there should be no need to worry.
I have read the same elsewhere on our forum.

Am giving you the link of Resco Explorer v5.42... The link contains the Explorer, the Registry Editor, the Today Plugin, etc... The serial generator required to register the product is within the zip file that you will download.
Though u'll find stand-alone registry editors for PPC, you might aswell have this one utility. Its one of thee most imp utilities and a must have.

The Unlock Ext ROM Utility is supposed to be installed to your device to Unlock the Ext ROM (as the name implies). You don't have to do anything about the Ext ROM files unless you are cooking your own ROM.

No need: WMP Plug-In was posted by"tsekov" on page 17 of this thread.
But if you want to know how he got it, you need the Extension ROM Unlocker and Total Commander. The Extension ROM Unlocker unlocks the ROM, giving Total Commander the ability to cut and paste the files OFF the Extension ROM and to your SD Card. From the SD card, you can copy it using Active Sync to your computer to save as your own copy and backup.

Hi All,
Lets submit our observations on the new ROM and as to how does it differ from the .94
ofcourse we are all already doing so... but lets do it in a more organized, tabular fashion... Maybe that'll throw some light on issues... If we can weigh our options beforehand, it might help many of us (including our new friends) to decide which one do they wanna go for....

Hello guys,
Sorry I have been away, but I have been reading the posts and I am currently looking into a few issues reported since the .96 release.
Mainly the following (Please let me know if I missed something)
USB HDD
Java MIDlet Manager
RUU Install Package (MSI 3.1 errors when trying to run the upgrade)
Also if people are wondering what the changes where from .94 to .96...
To be honest the changes were so small that most would never notice it.
There was the correction of a bug in the "extended Bluetooth" profile that showed a security tab twice, I changed it to "Password" for "default password setting" and left the other security tab alone.
Also there were performance enhancements via registry settings, one was disabling the Start Menu Animation, and this made HUGE improvements in the devices click response time. The SD/MMC card buffer was also increased to aid in large audio/video playback from SD/MMC cards.
The SIM contacts were also removed from the MS contacts to make viewing your MS contacts easier, but there is a sub menu to launch the SIM manager on the MS contacts main menu (if you want to quickly view your SIM contacts while in MS contacts).
There were also a few changes in the ROM header were there was an extra space and it caused a cosmetic error when upgrading (would display "1.90.94 W" instead of "1.90.94").
As I stated above many of the changes made were so small and most would never see them, this is why I didn't make a huge fuss about writing up a big change log. It takes me so many hours to create, test, package and distribute these ROMs then try to address issues reported by users; I sometimes will try to cut corners if it doesn’t affect quality to lighten the heavy load. Sorry if it leaves a few in the dark, but hopefully you guys can see it from my view...
Hope the above shines some light on the questions between .94 and .96
Take care,
-Jwrightmcps

frz,
The reason you cannot use mp3 ringtones is that you Windows media player is not the default player in your system. If you have TCPMP, PocketMusic or other third party media player installed, make sure they don't take over file associations from Media player. Than it definitely works in AKU 3.2 also, just like in AKU 2 ( I am using AKU 3.2 version .94 now ).
I hope this helps !
hi, i can use the mp3 ringtones as a ringtone...
i need to use it as my messege tone as mentioned on
http://www.mobile-review.com/pda/articles/wm-aku-en.shtml
Conclusion
Throughout AKU’s history for Windows Mobile 5.0 we see how treatment of “infantile sicknesses” (it took years for Microsoft to realize that MP3 ring tones should be allowed for assignment to SMS and others) and correction of bugs have been initiated simultaneously with empowering the OS with new features, such as support for Microsoft Direct Push, WPA2, Language Provisioning and greatly improved Internet Explorer Mobile.
Nonetheless the most interesting part of the WM’s history is yet to come with the release of Microsoft Windows Mobile Crossbow (possible commercial title – Windows Mobile 5.0 Second Edition). One of the upcoming articles on Mobile-Review.com will be dedicated to this matter; our readers will be able to find out what WM Crossbow is all about several months ahead of its actual release

Just a bit of feedback:
I upgraded to .96 today, keeping the same ExtROM and Radio as before. The bootloader upgrade (1.00 to 1.01) and the CE ROM upgrade went without a hitch. Customisation was fine until it hung on i-mate Blackjack; but that's no great loss.
USB HDD and keyboard backlight are working fine. Everything seems to be great. Like .94 it's a really fast and stable ROM - it makes the Universal a real pleasure to use.
Many thanks again to Jwrightmcps for doing such a great job!

Anyone knows what is the latest Bootloader version, is it 1.01 or newer? My is 1.00. Is there a need to upgrade bootloader?
Backup contacts? 2 ways,
1. ActiveSync you Universal with the Contacts in Outlook. After Sync, check the Contacts in Outlook to see if it is exactly the same as those in your Universal. If they are the same, you can later Sync it back anytime on any PPC device even if you lose your Universal. All is there except Ringtones for you contacts, the ringtones you set for the contact will be gone and need to set the ringtones again.
2. In the Universal's root directory, you can see a file called PIM.VOL, copy this out, and later copy it back when needed.

I'm a bit confused. Haven't we always had the ability to have multiple SMS recipients? Simply start to type the contact name, select the right one from the dropdown list, then start typing the next, and so on. Looks like a semi-colon delimited list.

Once you choose to create a new SMS, after selecting the first recipient, should you want to send the same SMS to more people, you can tap on "MENU"(right soft-key), choose "Add Recipient" & your contact list will appear for you to choose more people..

(Tried to extract this new version myself, but could not find it, anyone with this New Version pls upload and share to make this a better Rom. Those with Ivan's beta 14 can contribute. Thanks in advance!!)
2) Registry Settings;
i found when i tweak the registry setting to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Systems\GDI\SYSFNT under CS if i change the value to from 0 to 16384 the universal will have an turbo speed improvement. Try it yourself to experience!! Jwrightmcps hope u can implement this registry hack into yr next Beta, it works 100%!!
3) 1st Boot Screen Image
Think most of us who r using non imate jasjar varient of the universal would noticed that the first boot sceen image shows the imate brand, Jwrightmcps hope u dun mind to change the first boot screen image to a more neutral one.
Net Compact Framework v2.0 builtin.
Some beta testers who using the new the new rom feedback that some programs which need the Net Compact Framework 2.0 to function for example C2C is not working in the New Rom, but its working in the old AKU 2.0 Rom if downloading the Net Compact Framework separately. I myself tried and can confirm the program C2C is not working with this version of the ROM, but "Pocket Google" another program that needs the Net Compact Framework 2.0 to function works fine. Other testers with the same problem pls comment.
Taskbar Battery icon'
Some users might find the battery icon useful, but others like myself who r using third party battery software feels otherwise. Hope Jwrightmcps, u can make a cab to remove the battery icon for those who do not need this icon on the taskbar. Thanks!
Thats just some of my personnel suggustions to further improve this great Rom, Jwrightmcps hope u dun mind my feedbacks and Thanks Really,
Without U we would not have such a compete AKU 3.2 and stable ROM we have TODAY!!

Hi Jwrightmcps,
Goes without saying, i highly appreciate your work dude.. Had an idea so i thought i'll put through to you.
As such, we dont have any Program Manager in our new ROM and i was thinking if we could incorporate one. Being the easiest to use, i am attaching the "Running Programs" cab file below.
Please do let us know if you we ourselves can add this cab to our ExtROMs by simply renaming it as Default_Running_Programs.cab?? Would doing so be enough for it to get installed upon next hard reset?

Hello!
I really do not know how to tell how much I appreciate this ROM... it is very stable, fast and reliable so far... many thanks to Jwrightmcps.
My problem from the very beginning of using WM5 is the notification sounds (SMS, Email, alarm, etc...) Are there on earth somebody who solved to use different sounds than Microsoft allows?
I definiately do not want to use third party software to solve this problem... I am quite convinced that there is a possibility to do this by e.g. registry modification... but I am not able to do.
If anybody knows the method pls share it!!!
Many thanks in advance

What's the problem? Just go to "Sounds & Notifications" in "Settings", and make your changes there. Your sounds will have to go in the "Windows" folder, I think.

Hello Steve!
Thanks for your idea but when I go to settings - sounds and notifications I can only choose the notification sounds from a predefined list of sounds... there is no chance to add any other sounds which I would like to use e.g. for SMS or email. I am really fed up with Windows sound for daily alarm... this is the most useful from that list because the others are just pieces of sounds.
If you mean that I have to put my sounds to Windows folder and they will be visible in the list... I tried and did not work
My question is that how to add more sounds to that list.
Thank you

Put the sound files in your Windows folder (ringtones go in Windows/Rings), and they should be picked up from there, and listed. From memory, I think the SMS tones have to be WAVs, whereas Ringtones can be MP3.

First of all I would like to thank Jwrightmcps for his good job
I have upgraded my QTEK9000 to the latest ROM, and noticed the following problem when using A6.times "I am unable to launch the software after installation"
The problem seems to be related to the version of NET CF !!
When I tried to install another version I have an error message saying NET CF is already install in ROM 'error' the only option is to close.
I think that will be great to have a version of this ROM without NET CF installed, this will let some of us the flexibility to install it ourselves.
Currently I can't use my favorite RSS news reader.
If any one have the same problem as me let me know how you solved it.
Thanks once again for the good job !!
I would also like to say I had noticed the same problem with Irvans ROM as well.

Try this
save your wav in \storage card\
go to registry hkcu\controlpanel\notifications and add your desired sound on the specified key.
hope this work for you as they work for me. regards

Everyone,
I have been looking into the .NET issues people have reported and I have found that the .NET software is fine, however there seems to be an issue in the way .NET interfaces with the new AKU 3.2 core. I think there has been a change in the PIM management which causes errors when trying to use any functions of "GAC_Microsoft.WindowsMobile.PocketOutlook_v1_0_0_0 _cneutral_1.dll".
I am trying everything I can to resolve the issue, but it is looking more like an issue in the core, which is vary hard to patch. I still have a few more tests to perform and hopefully I solve the issue.
I will keep you guys updated on my progress.
Take care,

Hi!
Thanks to Jwrightmcps for developing and sharing this upgrade.
I have a big problem with Pocket Outlook. I have about 2000 contacts and it freezed every time I look for someone whose initials are not in the first letters of the alphabet.
Needless to say that:
-it worked fine with the last WWE official on imate website
-I have done all the suggested hacks
-I've unistalled some applications to make more memory available
-there is plenty of memory available...
What should I do?
Thank you,
Chris

..but i ****ed it up!
1) I did try to change the bootscreens, Actually the first one, but they both ar corrupted now.
2) same thing for the sounds. I was replacing some of the sounds, but it ended up in non-hearable files.
So can someone post the files (sounds & bootscreens) within this rom? Otherwise I have to Hard reset (I Guess..)
Thanks in advance...

Thanks for this - geting back into the JasJar and this forum, and your ROM leap-frogs me into play. Nice work. Would be great to have a detailed list of the tweaks and apps in the rom as there's clearly a lot more than in your .txt file.
I've also got the keyboard backlight issue (iMate); no light no matter what I do, press or set.
If we can get a fix for this it would be awesome - it's a rather essential feature.
CORRECTION: backlight is fine - dumbass didn't try pressing a key !

Hi Bro..
A Registry Tweak can help you store your IE Cache on the Storage Card... I have done it through a software called "Registry Tweak" which is technically meant for the HTC Wizard... Not all of the tweaks work but thankfully the IE thingy works && my observation is - No Hanging, No Freezing & am guessing even if there is a memory leak, i dont face any problem...
Now am not sure if the reason i dont face the problem is coz' of this tweak but i suggest u try it out... U shud get it in the Wizard Forums... Incase u dont, lemme know... i'll patch it thru...

Thank you Jwrightmcps for a great ROM!
I have used your ROM for about a week now, and it works like a dream! I tried it mainly because I wanted A2DP on my phone, and it works perfectly.
I use a pair of Plantronics Pulsar590, and the sound is amazing! I can change song, pause and start again. I can even receive phonecalls. But after a call I have noticed a bug. The music starts again, but I cannot change song, pause and start anymore. I need to set the hedset as wireless stereo again to make it work again. Is this a bug with AKU 3.2 or just your ROM?
Please have a look at it because it is the only thing that I find annoying with this ROM.

I have a slight problem with this rom, after running it for a couple of weeks now, I noticed that once a day it "crashes" by first vibrating for a few seconds and then getting the backlight stuck on the brightest setting and, henceforth, failing to launch any programs. :( I had this problem a lot while using msn on the original Jasjar rom, but haven't had the problem outside Mobile MSN. While in this state it doesn't appear to receive emails or much else.
Is this the "disconnected radio" bug people have talked about?
Otherwise it works great

Hello All,
I have installed yesterday rom 1.90.96 and at the beginning it looked very good. I have installed all applications as usual - exactly like in previous installations and everything was fine untill I have checked the amount of free program memory. In build 1.30 I usually have around 24 MB, but with this build it is fluctuating between 12 and 16 and is is not enough for some of my applications. Does any of you know usefull application which show which application/process is really using the memory? any hints there? I have checked startup and there is nothing unusal there, and when I check in running programs there is nothing running - but still the memory is very low. Any clues???

All,
I am in the final stages of testing the latest release 1.91.02 WWE
It should be ready to upload in the next few days. I have addressed many of the issues and suggestions that were reported. The only real issue that still remains is the CF 2.0 SP1 issue. This issue is with the AKU 3.2 core itself and only affects programs that interface with the PIM, although if I test a application written in .NET 2005 that connects to the PIM it works fine, so my theory is that older software will not work correctly, probably because of the PIM changes in AKU 3.2.
I performed this test by creating a version of my ROM without the CF 2.0 SP1 files in it and installed the CF 2.0 SP1 via the MS cab file, then tried various PIM software that requires CF 2.0 (C2C, i-mate 1-View, etc...) I received the same results between both ROM versions.
However I will keep looking to see if there is anything I can do about it.
Hope everyone is enjoying the ROMs and I truly appreciate all the wonderful feedback!
Take care,

Hi buddy...
I had a few suggestions now that urr compiling a new version...
1) the .96 has the message delivery notification option enabled by default... If majority is with me, can we please go back to disabling this feature as its too irritating.. i mean for crying out loud we are trying to get rid of the message sent popup by tweaking our registries... i dont see a point of gettin conformations on each n every SMS.. should it be an important message one can always check the option and get the delivery report... What do you say guys??
2) Another problem that i faced was that :- If i receive SMSes, read them and save them as read and then for some reason soft-reset my device, post-reset, these SMSes change their status to unread.. Now, am not sure if this problem is generic or its just me... Any conformations wud help...
There were one or two odd glitches which i had observed but cant recollect.. will post bout them asap...
Once again dude... All of us highly appreciate your work here... Many kudos to ya...

If you can't find the option, open your inbox then select menu, tools, options, text messages. You'll find a little tick in the box next to request delivery notifications, just untick it.

Hi,
I tried to get my Universal running in VGA mode. Everything seems to work correct but the radio icons on the top bar.
If I connect to GPRS or UMTS (3G) the radio icons are superposed. There are two arrows turning around permanently and below that icon you can see the radio signal strenth indicator.
Does anyone use VGA mode without these problems?
I use MvRTrueVGA 1.3 (http://www.jaml.com/MvRTrueVGA/).

Can you tell me if this will be a minor upgrade to the ROM, as before? I ask as I was set to upgrade to the 1.90 rom tonight, and then reinstall all my apps. If it just a minor upgrade then I should be OK to do a backup and restore with Sprite? Or should I hold off until the 1.91.02 WWE is released.

I added an exchange server (mail2web one) and then changed the schedule to manual / manual as someone here advise before but that Asynch still started again and again. It's a little bit annoyed. Overall, your ROM is great, looking for new release for us to try. Many thanks.

First of all I would like to appreciate the hard work done by Jwrightmcps , today i upgraded my jasjar with his ROM 1.90.96 WWE and some how felt that something was buggy so thought to tell him for his new rom which is already in testing mode :--
1. If any of my storage card application is running & my jj goes on a standby & when it wakes up dat app is closed i.e it does not support storage card after waking from the stand by and even if any of my ringtone is selected on the storage card it too doesnt ring on any call.
2. Whenever I soft reset my jasjar and any storage card app. on the list of start menu doesnt shows its icon but though it works but does not shows its icon that really looks bad coz i have many app. on storage card.
3. Program memory has serious leak issue as earlier with 1.30.76 WWE I had 22 mb of running programs memory as used & 27 mb free but with this version I had only 15 mb free and rest is being used , I have even read that others also had this kind of prob. so we all wish that in the newer ROM all these bugs are solved and once again Thanks a Lot .

I also have an issue. Although everything works fine, I can't use Pocket Internet Explorer, so I have to use Opera through Midlet Manager.
Whenever I open Pocket Internet Explorer, it runs and loads the default page. I try to type a page, and when I press Enter, Pocket IE closes down...
Anyone else on that?
Will it be taken care of, on 1.91?
Thank you again.

With the Big Man putting the final touches to 1.91.02, I'm not sure if it's worth posting any more feedback on 1.90.96, but here goes:
- ROM is still stable and fast after 1 week using it in a variety of circumstances.
- I have the same program memory issue as has been mentioned here several times. I start with about 20MB free after a soft reset but this gradually drops. It's been as low as 9MB. This didn't happen with .94 (or at least it wasn't so dramatic that I noticed it).
- Power consumption seems to be higher than .94. I've got the same ExtROM and Radio version I had when running .94, the same installed programs and the same setup. I'm therefore pretty sure this is down to the ROM version.
- Comm Manager hangs the device when I click on 'X', but exits gracefully if I press the 'Exit' soft button and then kill the process. I had this problem in .94 and it may be down to some funny interaction with WisBar Lite. It's no big deal though.
- Remove Programs doesn't display all the installed programs.
I'm temporarily going back to .94, but once again many thanks to Jwrightmcps for giving us this excellent ROM.

jwrightmcps,
I am really sorry to ask what is almost certainly a stupid question but I am muddling my way through all of this slowly and using the forums to the best of my abililty. I have installed the rom as per all instructions and I wanted to use Restore "Calendar" Softkey:
ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com...ar_Softkey.zip
I have downloaded it and used winrar to extract the contents, but I don't know what to do next. Can you advise please.
Cheers Warren "With a much faster working exec".

I don't get any programs in the remove list, But those installed on the first couple resets. :-) I've got almost 40 apps/games and have 6 on the list. Hovewer, you can remove them through Activesync. It works...

After unpacking you'll get a cab file, called Softkey changer; copy it to your Universal, run it, make a soft reset and under Settings/personal you will find a new icon "Soft Key". Tap it and you can change both soft keys, how you want.

Hi,
Cn u plz keep the rom clean without cab like pdf reader. cause we hv so many alternatives and cn individually set them for our prefrence.
Also do we use tweak prog to revert some tweak back to suit us like msg confirmation etc.
also cn we get sm prg to select multiple receipient like nokia phones for sms.its very difficult gng back and forth for every receipient selection.
Hoping to c ur new rom ASAP.

i have upgraded to yours after using Ivans previously.
in both, they appear to have the new IA composer for MMS.
in both, I have been unable to configure and use the MMS with my service provider (telstra, Australia).
Could anybody else advise their experience with MMS, working, not working, and any tricks that they know of to get it to work.
i have tried reinstalling the "provider.cab" files, to no avail. I am told the MMS composer has to be compatible with the provider also, but i cannot seem to get it to work so i must assume it isnt compatible.
Any suggestions, comments, feedback, hints.
alternatively, does anybody have the AKU 2 IA client as it was working on the version released officially by Imate.

SP3 for .NET Compact Framework?
I think you are wrong, there is no SP3 for the COMPACT Framework.
The .Net Compact Framework ist actually on SP1, afaik.

Unless it's Compact Framework 1 SP3. You can download the CF1 SP3 Redistributable @ http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=a5a02311-194b-4c00-b445-f92bec03032f&DisplayLang=en
Copy the .cab version to your device and install it. Then CF 1 Program will run again

Forgive my ignorance. I have downloaded the files for my Jasjar rom upgrade three separate times. Following the directions, I extract the files and then click on the BL so I am sure I have the right Bootloader. Then, after doing a soft reset my info all comes back to me and I click on the actual upgrade. My computer tells me it cannot find the files on my desktop. I am sure I am missing something, but I don't know what it is.
Thanks for your help.

One last comment on 1.90.94 and 1.90.96:
Whenever I run 'Align Screen' I have to go through the process of clicking at the crosses many, many times. I click at the centre and the 4 corners and then I have to repeat it. And repeat it. And repeat it. My highest score so far is 14 repetitions before it would accept my settings!
I've tried this with and without a screen protector in place: it makes no difference. It's incredibly frustrating! It hasn't happened with any ROM upgrade I've installed before these two.

Guys, still battling: I downloaded CF 2.0 SP1 (all 37Mb) but when I install my PPC says something like "you already have CF 2.0 installed in ROM". I tried installing an older version and uninstalling, but same issue. Not sure if I can safely delete the CF files (\WIndows\GAC_... files) and perhaps I should be deleting these anyway to get space seeing as CF does not seem to be working on this ROM?
Any thoughts would be welcome.

To make it sure that the problem is the ROM, why do you not "downgrade" to an earlier ROM... e.g. which you have used already without this problem.
It can be hardware malfunction also I think.

read it somewhere here on the forum.....
at times dust particles get stuck between the touch scrren and the corners of the body....maybe you could try to clean it by using a thin sheet of paper and moving it betwwen the body and the screen....

Stop all download managers you might be using and click on the link -
ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com...U_3_2_ship.zip
in the first post of this thread.... The Open/Save windows should appear.
If it aint working use a FTP Agent (eg, FileZilla) and manually steer urrself through the following path of FTP -

Hi All!
Memory leak has been solved for me... maybe it is not the best solution but I rather appreciate a bit more clicks than a slow gadget in my hand...
I made the following:
Due to some reasons I reflashed 1.90.96 ROM, but I did not include ms.nbf (extrom) during upgrade.
After successful upgrade I unlocked-unhided extrom and started installing programs.... and I realized that all previous programs remained in the extrom in Program Files folder.
I had Resco Explorer installed before so I clicked on the exe file in the Resco folder and Resco started and asked for registration key. After registration Resco worked like before, the only difference was that it was not appeared in Programs but only in Extrom\Program Files\Resco.
I tried out all previous programs' exe files and found that most of them works (may they ask also for registration key again, but only for the first start)
I made a shortcut all of working programs into StartMenu using Resco Explorer (Send To Start Menu as Shortcut) and made a link of Programs folder also. So most of the programs start from the extrom by clicking the .lnk in Start menu in Resco.
To tell the truth I avoided to install any Today plugin or Today program like iLauncher, PocketPlus, and any like these.
Now I have appr. 25MB RAM after soft reset, and I use Magicbutton to close apps... after using several programs and have them closed I always have appr. 20 MB without softreset.
I know that I have to click a bit more than I use Today progz, but I can tell you my MDA has NEVER been so fast like now.
For internet browsing I use Webby, and closing apps and reclaim RAM I use Oxios Memory
Now I am absolutely satisfied. I discovered this method accidentally but it solved my biggest doubt... the lack of memory.
I can send screenshots on request
Thanks again to Jwrightmcps for the great job with AKU ROM and waiting for the even better one!

Hi!
Lucky you!:)
I asked on other forums about the memory leak I had, but there was no answer yet.
I tried several things out, and I even had more than 20MB after SR, but this is the first time I can reclaim the RAM after closing the used programs. I experienced e.g. 20MB after SR and using the MDA it slowly dropped down to even 12MB had all programs closed, regardless using task manager or MemMaid.
I may try to install iLauncher and PB (or PI) again and will see...

well i havnt used the weather app ever and i know from experience that pA uses a fair bit of memory....but i think the problem in your setup is Adobe....used it for 1-2 hr....HUGE memory leak....try using someother pdf reader....
also if you are pranaoid bout your free ram (like i am!!!) use tweaks 2k2 .net, there is a hack activated in this rom which increases the cashae .... if you deactivate that i guess youll have 2 mb of more free ram at startup....downside being that your device will becomw a lot less snappier when rotating.....but people have reported an increase in battery life after removing this hack....

Just Start the USB HDD App, Plug in your USB cable into the device and further plug it into your comp/laptop... Your PC will recognize your PPC as a USB Storage Device.. Hence you can store stuff from computers that are not paired for Synchronizing or dont have bluetooth...

All,
Since we are on the subject of program memory....
In my latest version (1.91.02) that I am preparing, I have also made some adjustments to the Program RAM to aid with memory related issues.
With version 1.90.96 we have the following RAM config.
Program RAM
Total: 49.70
RAM in use after SR: 19.96 (base ROM no EXT ROM or 3rd party apps)
Available: 29.74
With my latest version 1.91.02 we will have the following RAM config.
Program RAM
Total: 52.21
RAM in use after SR: 19.20 (base ROM no EXT ROM or 3rd party apps)
Available: 33.01
So I have basically allowed us to gain an additional 3 MB for Program RAM usage, all without giving away performance (am still using the 2MB cache for fast screen rotate, etc...) and still getting boot-up times around 35-40 seconds.
Hope this helps you guys....
Take care,
-Jwrightmcps
P.S. I should have this new version up this week; I am just putting the final touches in it :)

Hi Jwrightmcps,
The ROM u made is just great, however, there is an option in the bluetooth settings to change the path of files/images recived. I changed that to the SD card, but still recived in my documnets!
Can you explian that please.
Thank you for your good efforts.

It might be a silly question but have you made a soft reset after this setting?
(Sorry if it is obvious for you;) )

well i havnt used the weather app ever and i know from experience that pA uses a fair bit of memory....
since then I uninstalled pA, and removed PocketWeather from today screen:D
but i think the problem in your setup is Adobe....used it for 1-2 hr....HUGE memory leak....try using someother pdf reader...
I did not check AR for mem leak but it looks working well... I will check for another pdf reader as well...
also if you are pranaoid bout your free ram (like i am!!!) use tweaks 2k2 .net, there is a hack activated in this rom which increases the cashae .... if you deactivate that i guess youll have 2 mb of more free ram at startup....downside being that your device will becomw a lot less snappier when rotating.....but people have reported an increase in battery life after removing this hack....
...yes...I am also paranoid about RAM :D .. rather if consider that the initial RAM amount - when I bought the MDA with the original ROM - was less than 10MB... you can imagine how disappointed I was...
I checked the 1.90.96 for the cache tweaks and found nothing there... I made the changes myself... after changes the RAM amount did not decrease dramatically... now I can reclaim about 20MB in any case so I am happy with that
Of course if Jwrightmcps makes even more RAM for us I will be more happy:D
Anyway.. many thanks for your advices my friend :D

Just Start the USB HDD App, Plug in your USB cable into the device and further plug it into your comp/laptop... Your PC will recognize your PPC as a USB Storage Device.. Hence you can store stuff from computers that are not paired for Synchronizing or dont have bluetooth...
Regards,
mOrph
Thanks a lot. Does Active Sync have to be open, or should it be closed, as to not interrupt the connection?

Hi, Jwrightmcps
First of all, I want to thank you very much for your effort and for this excellent ROM.
Regarding memory leak, I have around 22MB on softreset, but this amount rapidly decrease during the day, even if I close all the applications I use and I cannot reclaim it until I softreset again the device...
What do you advise me?
Thank you again and I can't wait to test your new masterpiece!

All,
Since we are on the subject of program memory....
Thanks Jwrightmcps for excellent job. I'm looking forward to your new release.

I installed to extrom folder:

2, SBSH Ilauncher
3, Totalcommander
4, magicss
5, Sprite backup
6, Oxios memory
on SD-card:
1, Skype
2, Mobipocket reader
3, Promille check
4, Xn-view
5, Stdict
6, TCPMP
With Ilauncherrel icons into today (s.screenshot)
So, after SR I have 29,3 MB of free RAM, if sink under 22 MB, with Oxios CloseApps I can reclaim about 27 MB RAM, midnight sprite backup make a soft reset and morning I'll start again with about 29 MB RAM, that's all.

I just made my first attempt at installing the 1.90.96 rom (radio and everything) on my Orange branded M5000 that I actually use on T-mobile UK.
I read as many related threads as possible, just in case anything should go wrong. But I'm happy to say the whole process ran VERY smoothly.
Gotta say this is one very slick, ROM.
Before the flash, my M5000 would take up to 3 min to soft reset (I had GPS magicbutton, Omegaone journal bar, Personal profiles and tomtom5 on my homescreen apart from Tomtom all installed to memory).
After the update my M5000 soft resets in 52 secs (same apps installed, now to SD card with the exception of Personal profiles). I also dumped gps magicbutton in favour of vBar (free app obtained from MoDaCo website).
Before update I had approximately 8mg of device storage memory left, after update I have 24.9 device storage memory left. (I was unaware Pocket Informant, Journal bar and Netfront could be installed to SD card and still perform well :/).
The only settings I had to enter were the MMS and Internet connection (details found by searching the forum).
My thanks to Jwrightmcps for an excellent job, I am truly enjoying using my device now.

Hi SuperMan, i have a question before making the upgrade: do you think the Blackberry Client application will work with your ROM x.96? (it is working fine with the Dopod with original ROM). Many thanks for your thought. Vincent
Feed back on this subject:
I have flashed the ROM x.96, and the BBConnect does not work with it. Connection with PC was OK via AS4.2, pin transfer no problem, code generated and transferred no problem, IT Policy updated from server without problem, but no possible connection with BB Service provider (Globe). Vincent

Sorry for the silly question, but how do I install the ROM?
At the moment I`m having a T-Mobile ROM installed on my Universal.
Now I Have three files in update source folder.
JASJAR_BL1.01_RUU_v1.2.exe
JASJAR_WWE_19096_19505_11300_AKU_3_2_ship.exe
MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe
I think I have to extract ms_.nbf (Extended ROM), nk.nbf (CE ROM) and radio_.nbf (Radio ROM) from the second file. But how? I didn`t managed to, could you help me please?
I did updates before, but this time all seems to be different. :-)

Dear Jwrightmcps, do you have a simple step by step way I can get this ROM upgrade? I wrote earlier but have not received a reply. Yes, I am a dummy, but I have the JasJar and would love it to be faster, cleaner and with the extras you have provided. My Sony Vaio desktop on a network at work downloads all, I can open and supposedly install the latest bootload, or whatever you called it, but when I extract and try to install the actual upgrade, it tells me it cannot find any files. I am sure I am doing something absolutely stupid.
Help, if you have a moment.

Hi,
It`s a pity it isn`t possible to extract files with winrar
The english translation of the error message is: "Cannot find an archive in this file"
Hmmmmm
Edit: Total Commander says it is an error in the archive.

Maybe the downloaded file is corrupt. You can download it from my site, it's for qtek9000 but works with maupgradenoid.exe in the rar file are nk.nbf, ms.nbf and radio_.nbf files

Actually, the greyed menu is only available for a custom folder. For instance if u create a new folder in urr SMS account OR urr POP mail account, then u are allowed to rename it or delete it.. It isnt applicable to the default folders. BUT Yes i agree with u that the "folder options" remains grey even if I keep a custom folder tapped...

Hi dude...
Double Click on the following exe file
JASJAR_WWE_19096_19505_11300_AKU_3_2_ship.exe
Let it unzip and do whatever it wants to...
Meanwhile go to the following path (if urr using XP)
c:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Temp
Click on Views button of your File Explorer and choose Details option. Arrange all the files & folders in this Temp folder in "Time Modified" fashion by simply clicking on the "Time Modified" header. This should help you to find the latest temp folder created in this Temp folder. It will be named somewhat like this -
{013E1BA8-C815-4E27-BCB9-D6B1B2E24094}
Go in this latest created folder and you will find your .exe file unzipped here.. Copy all the contents of this folder (nk.nbf,ms_.nbf,etc...)and paste them to any folder outside the temp folder. If not using a Jasjar, download the maupgrade_noID to flash the ROMs.
IMP : The JASJAR_WWE_19096_19505_11300_AKU_3_2_ship.exe
file should not be stopped from execution before you copy the contents into another folder or else you might not find these files in the newly created temp folder..
There onwards i guess it shud not be a problem for you.
Hope this helps...

I had this behavior as when when I tried to use the USB HD fonctionality.
It seems to be related to one of the program installed on your PPC.
to be sure I have made an Hard reset and activate the USB HDD and connect my PPC to my PC it worked fine.
-Try to make a backup of all your application installed.
-Perform an Hard reset
-Activate USB HDD without connecting your PPC to your PC
-Connect your PPC to your Pc
-It should work
-If not restaure your previous backup
That's the way I did
Hope this will help

Hi...
Follow these steps after a soft-reset...
1) Open the USB HDD Application on your PPC
2) Activate it.
3) Attach the USB Cable to your PPC.
4) Now, attach it to your PC
The Following should happen...
A Bubble will appear in your taskbar of PC saying "Windows Mobile" which the Quickly will change to "USB Mass Storage Device" and further to "USB Storage Device"...
If after a soft-reset you still are facing problems, there is a fair chance of a third-party software creating trouble... in which case, like pierre suggested, you might wanna take a backup, hard-reset and try...

To change splash screen is very easy, all you needed: a bmp file (640x480), bmp-rsb converter and unisplash bat; All files and howto-s are available on buzzdev.net, This operation need maximum 5 minute, first time, later under 1 minute.
