Sorry for this question.

Where OperatorCode is important?

I can see only difference in BaUpgrade.exe. So we have to use SetOperator or MaUpgrade_noID.

Enywhere else? Roaming? Any ideas. I was using my BA (TuMa 1.3) with fake operator code ERAPL, and there wasn't any difference.

If there is no meaning - could I suggest our great RomMakers to have common OperatorCode in your ROMs? For example: XDADEVEL? :)

As you perfectly know, but might forget, "Normal users" flash their devices with only shipped upgrades donwloaded from official operator/brander sites.
Also, upgrade utility won't let U flash your device using rom with different opcode, (officialy for safety precautions) becouse the branders (qtek, i-m8) and the operators want to keep their customisations, and all the crap that come with their roms. If there were no opcode, every user would flash rom he likes, but some unexperienced users could flash wrong one and finish with messing the device.
That's why the opcode was invented and appiled.

AFAIK the SIM card doesn't even know which phone model are U using, so the opearator.

I don't know if this answer is what are You expecting.

Last thing is.. Who of our "power users" care about opcodes? That's deeplily in-rom and has nothing to do with it.
