I have a newly bought Cingular 8125 in India. I would love to Upgrade that.
Though the box says it is for UK, I can use with the service providers in India.
I assume it is unlocked already.(is it really?)
This is my device information at boot:-
IPL: 2.25
SPL: 2.25
GSM: 02.25.11
OS: 2.25.11.1
I am planning to use Molsky.Biz ROM available here:-
RUU_Molski.Biz_226102_22610105_022511_WWE (G3 Device. IPL/SPL like: 2.xx)
I hope my device is G3.
Do I need to CIDUnlock my device? What is the FullUnlock?
Molsky.Biz says:-
" Also DO NOT FORGET to CID UNLOCK your Wizard. This is only possible with LokiWiz 0.2b and
IPL/SPL 1.xx, if you have a CID LOCKED Wizard with IPL/SPL 2.xx.0001 flash a G4 Rom !! "
But My IPL/SPL is not 1.xx as you can see above in my details.
What should I do to unlock? Do I need to do that at all?
and what is meant by AKU? Do I need that?
I sold my nokia and communicator to buy this phone. So dont want to brick it because of my ignorance!
Please guide me.
Many Thanks.

Your phone is a G3. If the IPL and SPL has more than 2 digits after the first decimal (ie: 2.xx.xx) then it's a G4.
As for unlocking, that confuses the bejesus out of me.
I would say download the G3 ROM, figure out how to unlock your phone (if possible) and then you should be good to go.

You SHOULD be scared given all the threads around here from people who trashed their phones. And I'd bet few of them could give a straight answer as to why they wanted to do so in the first place. So before you do anything, define why you want to update the rom. Does it do something specific that you absolutely can't live without and makes it worth the risk of ruining the phone? Maybe a custom rom is a tiny bit faster but in a day's time, will it make any difference? Probably not, and an operator rom that's a tiny bit slower is still a LOT faster than a dead phone. Don't forget that the moment you start flashing with anything but an operator approved rom, you're out of warrantee. if you absolutely MUST update the rom, then start reading the link above. Every question you asked has already been answered here many, many times. Is your phone a G3 or a G4? Better know BEFORE you start. Oops...you're at 55% and your PC crashes...what do you do? Better know BEFORE you start. The phone reboots and won't go past the splash screen, what do you do now? Better know BEFORE you start.

Thank you all for the replies.
The main reason for flashing it to the new rom was speed and space considerations.
I was owning an XDA Mini earlier and successfully did the BigStorage and Rom updates.
But seeing many users bricking their wizard here and being not sure about the 'unlocking thing' i've decided to atleast not to venture into the bleeding edge atleast during my warranty period.
I know many questions might have been answered many a times, but the answers too are very contextual, they are different for different versions / models etc.
Hopefully I will do it sometime next year!

i would vote the warranty period is the best time to do it.. then you can tell your provider you tried to update their rom and now your phone dont work and let them send you a replacement...
Flashing isnt all that scary, the first time its a little nerve racking, but then again i like living on the edge...
So if your gonna do it, here is a quick simple explanation...
Downgrade to a 1.xx rom from the FTP site, after the your IPL/SPL should show 1.xx during boot up (mine actually differed, had IPL 1.xx SPL 2.xx and still unlocked just fine, some people claim to have issues though)
after successfully booting run lokwiz 2b (its the one i used) do the sim and supercid unlock.
Then reflash a stock 2.xx rom so that you are sure to get the updated bootloaders, after that has completed successfully then flash any rom you want..
its that simple, just a little time consuming

Please disreegard below. Just found it.
Thanks..
I am kind of new in this.
I want to unlock the device but do not know how to
copy the cab file(enable rapi) to your device and run it before running lokiwiz.
I will appreciate your help on this so I can continue with the upgrades.
Thanks in Advance.
1 - Unzip lokiwiz02b.zip to somewhere (extract to c:\lokiwiz) in your computer
2. Connect your phone via ActiveSync to your PC . Browse your phone with File Explorer from your PC.
3 - Copy EnableRapi.cab to your Wizard (My Document)
4 - Execute the EnableRapi.cab in your phone. Wait for it to finish
5 - Guarantee that your phone is connected via activesync with the computer
6 - Execute lokiwiz.bat (from your computer run c:\lokiwiz\lokiwiz.bat, double click on that file) and follow the instructions on your screen...
7 - Select Option U to unlock your Wiz.
