silly question but when you presso the power button + camera and then you press the soft reset button with the stylus, do you keep pressing wth the stylus for a moment?
i have to wait some 3 seconds before i go into bootloader mode

Yes tried that, and all other combinations that I can think of. It just goes to the Stripe color screen then shows at the bottom the rom, radio, etc then the WM5 screen.

Yes tried all of your suggestions, I guess must be a button problem (power button I think) Altho its the same as when I get it to upgrade to WM5. But now, You know when you press power rs and camera/record? and the the envelope key to get the no yes yes screen? as soon as I take my fingers off the keys, its gone, doesnt stay there like b4 till options are changed. They r all set to default of no. How do u check to see if the bootloader software is on the pda?

Press record (button above slider) + power button + SR at bottom.
Then you are in bootloader.

You can actually test without guessing if the power button is working: press & does the device turn on/off? Try (not guess) the other buttons as well.
Without being rude, do a sanity check. disregard all your assumptions that you are doing things right & follow the procedure as below (taken from the Wiki pages):
-------------------------------------
Put your device into bootloader mode:
* Press Power + record (above the volume slider) + softreset at the same time. You should see a white screen with "Serial" text on it and the Bootloader version.
-------------------------------------
Hardreset based on Screen Information
* Press Power + Softreset, and when the colored stripes shows on the screen.
If you have a PH20B device such as MDAIII, QTEK 9090, XDAIIs, PDA2K etc.
* Quickly press Record+Camera before the versions appears at bottom right or,
* press Power+Softreset+Camera+Record at the same time.
If you have a PH20B1 device such as SX66
Quickly press Record+Windows Media before the versions appears at bottom right or,
* press Power+Softreset+Windows Media Player button+Record at the same time.
Either way mentioned above should work.
You'll see three options; change the second and the third to "yes".
Cheers!
