NEW updated rom comes as a complete install package for use on CID UNLOCKED Charmers that have the 2.06 SPL and IPL bootloaders installed (this can be checked on startup or in the bootloader)

I have instaled this rom update but T Mobile skin is still in dial pad. I did as you write - reset before customizing. The other T mobile stuff doesnt exist so is ok. But this T Mobile skins for dial pad is awful. What can I do??

not sure how you managed that, the tmobile skin for the phone is displayed using bitmaps, all of which i have removed from the rom aswell as relevant registry entries enabling them.

Guys dont install that crap.I was naive enough to install it.The device freezes on the start screen and as the device wont be able to sync again as the active sync doesnt spot it you device will get brick just like mine.Not even try to reinstall this crap will work.

well youve done something wrong cos it works fine on mine and others.

with the phone off, hold down camera and plug in the sync cable. keep holding until the bootloader comes up. now you can install the original t-mobile package

Youve tried to install my rom on a AKU1 device. Clearly states in the first post that you need AKU2, which means on startup IPL and SPL should be 2.06 for it to work

I've already decided to use my MDA Compact 2 LCD Screen on my Wizard device. But I noticed that someone has had the same problem while falshing it with a wizard room.What I'm asking now is very important to him. He'll be able to enter in the bootload mode by holding the camera and power bottom while the device is connected to the power charger.The big issue is: The device will be out of the bootload mode everytime it is taken out of the power.And no,that's not possible to put it into bootload mode while using USB connection,I dont know why.
So normally the problem is to get into the bootload mode.I've managed it.So now I can see just two ways out.One: reflash it using the SD card (there must be someone out there able to do it) or find a hybrid "usb/charger connector" in order to "fool" the device.I mean, a usb conector which has an USB and Power as well just like the one that Motorola uses to their Motorola A1000 device.

cos youve trashed the bootloaders by installing a wizard rom, an SD backup is the ONLY option to fix it, theres no way of uploading a rom with a cable now. also the SD backup will only work if the wizard rom you installed didnt contain bootloaders for a G4 device.

only a small part of the tmob branding is installed from the ext rom, mainly a different set of icons for the start menu, the rest was in the base rom. as far as i can remember, the branding i removed was

phone pad t9 input was replace with standard htc graphics from tmobs pink and grey

tmobs pink and grey dialler was removed, leaving the standard windows one

tmobile carrier logo removed from dialler

internet explorers 1st page has tmob stuff removed.

i recommend installing the following from the ext rom

Sorry but i have to agree, ive just used your rom and have the same problem, i soft reset after initial boot up and have not installed anything from the extended rom yet and i still have the tmobile dialpad, carrier gif & phonepad.

And it also conflicts with my Vietnamese keyboard. If I let the ExtRom installed, my Vietnamese keyboard does not work. Then I had to softreset after Hard reset so that it could not install the ExtRom. After that I found out the Soft Key item in Settings menu disappear but I did not know which cab file in Ext Rom is the programs to change soft keys (I have unlocked the Ext Rom). That's why I have to ask you all. And if u have other programs with the same function, please let me know.

And I still have the Tmobile brand and phone pad without installing the ExtRom. I don't know why?

As i understand it not nuch of the branding is stored on the extended rom that is why u still have the tmobile branding. This debranded rom is supposed to take care of this however i have an issue with that as in it hasnt debranded my device.

As for the soft key issue you have i believe there are some registy changes you can do to change the soft keys.

Just found out how to get the softkey setting back in settings, u need to place the softkeyapplet.cpl into the windows directory and then soft reset.

this can be done by one of the cabs in the extended rom but it aldo install a lot ot other rubbish.

i have included the applet here, unzip to windows directory and rename .exe to .cpl

you will see the icon in the settings page, mine has appeared on the second page.

The buttons app only configures the hardwear buttons.

This app will configure the 2 softkeys which are present at the bottom of the screen.

You can see that you can set these to any app on the pda you have.

For all those who rom isnt taking to their devices. the only thing i can think of is that the CID is still locked so its preventing overwrites of the OS. sorry i should have put this in the first post.

use lokiwiz3 from this thread and see if it makes a difference.

Nope sorry, this didnt work either, although it did give me the sim unlock code which works as i tried a different sim.

I did notice when running that it said at the top "NOW WITHOUT CID UNCLOCK"

So im guessing that this version of lokiwiz3 does not cid unlock the mda.

i tried your rom just incase and again the tmobile branding is present.

when i was running the update with your rom, i noticed that the progress bar which is a greenish blue in colour turned red at 14%, then back to the green the same thing happened at 96% and 99%. im guessing that these represent errors?

hmmm i know the earlier versions of lokiwiz cid unlock the phone, cos they did mine, but then they only work on v1 bootloaders, not v2.

Bugger, i did try a few of the earlier releases but with no luck.

I then tried version 3a, but again all it did was sim unlock not cid unlock.

Guess im stuck with it the way it is then.

i have not run many of the cabs though so it a little better.

one of the easiest ways to get rid of the dialler is to delete the DIALER and PROGRESS folder sets from HKLM\Security\Phone\Skin then create a blank file called carrier.gif and put that in \Windows then soft reset. you'll just be left with the windows default. also add these graphics to \windows to re skin the smartdialling sub window

well i know the wizard lot downgrade to v1 bootloaders, unlock the cid with lokiwiz2 and then re upgrade. only works on g3 devices though. might be hard to find the original tmobile rom which contains the v1 bootloaders. obviously you cant get it from tmobile anymore and it was deleted off the ftp. id imagine you can install that rom using a no_id exe to get back to v1.

For some reason I can not get the upgrade to work. The Utility (I have tried all - the no id, the Wizard one, the Charmer from the latest rom, and the Charmer from the first ROM) gives out an error. It says check utility version when the update progress bigins (does not move past 0%). What could be the problem? I have the latest official ROM.

Where can I find a copy of this rom image ?

If anyone has the HTC_Charmer_AKU2_V2.rar rom image, can you upload it on any of the file hosting sites available on the net ?

Hi all

i would really like this debranded rom, as im sure that alot of people would too. So could some kind soul who has a copy of this rom upload it to a filesharing service for us, or could they get it to me and i will host it on my webspace for all to get a copy of.

just as a side note, it really is fantastic work that people are doing with this.

one of the easiest ways to get rid of the dialler is to delete the DIALER and PROGRESS folder sets from HKLM\Security\Phone\Skin then create a blank file called carrier.gif and put that in \Windows then soft reset. you'll just be left with the windows default. also add these graphics to \windows to re skin the smartdialling sub window

Hi dave106. I tried the method stated above, but it seems the said files exist in ROM and can't replace them. On disabling the operator skin, the smart dialling also gets disabled. Any ideas on how to keep both - windows default phone dialler with smart dial? If it helps, i'm on T-mobile UK, and the've really screwed up the graphics of the phone. The keyboard also looks so crap! I've completely stopped using default keyboard, but still need dialer with smart-dial.

yes, it really is a stupid question. What roms are you talking about? You can't download debranded AKU 2 here, it has been deleted.

you can always upgrade to WM6 but read the instructions carefully.

make sure in HKLM\Security\Phone\Skin that 'enabled' is set to 1 but delete/rename the dialer and progress keys. this should keep smartdialling but default back to the blue theme. dont use file explorer to copy files, use resco or total commander. copy to a folder on the phone first, then to \windows using one of these programs.
