Is it possible to make sound of a notification mp3 file?
It seems to support only .wav..=(
the only way to set mp3 ringtone on sms is programm called Ringo. but it changes phone-calls sounds too which is not good as I use PhotoContacts for this - it's better imho.
any other solutions???
thanks)

I've spend some time playing with regestry and here is what i found.
all notifications (including sms delivery sound) are played by album.exe programm. it can't play .mp3 files (but it can play .mp4 that's why you can freely use them as ringtones).
I tried to make .wav play not by album.exe but with windows media player (wmplayer.exe) - but it doesn't support .wav, too...
also I tried to make tcpmp play .wav - but it seems to me it doesn't understand command line params...=|
the thing I want is to find another player to play all system sounds and by that make .mp3 sounds for notifications.
or make .mp3 sounds on notifications in any other way :P

TCPMP plays everything, including - if you download the codec, AAC.

it does, but it doesn't support command line.
if in registry in file assosiations you write for .mp3 "player.exe "%1""
it wouldn't play that file.. =|
and btw I tried using another player which supports everything - but it didn't solve the problem. notifications don't look at what player is set - they directly play wave sounds or directly start album.exe - I don't know.
Even ringo doesn't disable it - it sets "silent" wave on notification and plays another sound itself at a same time - how it cathes incoming sms - I don't know...must be some .dll in memory which does it.

Finaly It seems to me that notifications are played without any player. notifications does it itself.
I just converted sound I wanted into wav and forgot about it...don't have time now for searching for another solution.
