Start > Settings > Sounds & Notifications > Notifications

The setting you are looking for is New Message (Palm).

I just loaded this program on my wife's 8525 and here is the problem:

When a SMS is sent from within this program to one of her contacts the 1 and area code prefix are automatically deleted prior to the message being sent. The reason that I know this is because I then after the message is sent we get a new SMS that says that we need to send the message again with a valid 10 digit number. When the message is returned it shows the number that it tried to send the message to. The number is only showing the 7 didgit number with the 1 in fromt of the area code.

I have a TyTN and have NEVER seen or had this problem. Her 8525 has the stock ROM. I haven't changed a thing to it yet...:D

Any help with this problem would be appreciated. Also, we don't have any 3rd party stuff loaded except this one.

And yes...SMS are received with no problems at all. All the setting are the exact same ones that I have on my TyTN so I know that is not the problem.

EDIT: I just did a hard reset and it works fine. Thanks. Still was a weird problem none-the-less.

Also how can I backup the sms file ? Where are the sms located , I mean in which folder so I can make backup

I've been searching for this answer too...I believe that there is a file PalmMsgV001 in the /Windows/ directory that is the backup. I'm about to install Black 3.0, so I'll report if this works.

EDIT: Just finished installing Black 3.0 (awesome build btw...) and PalmMsgV001 is indeed the SMS database for this app. All you have to do is copy back this file into the Windows directory after re-installing the app.

is anyone having troubles with the app like having your sent messages sent twice or hours later or days later? i'm running black 3.0 and for example, i sent my gf a text yesterday and today at work, she told me she got it again...:confused:

i had 4 8525's running threaded msg. and we ran in to this problem all running the beta thats circulating removed the prog.(hard reset) and all was back to normal no dupes. i have been trying to find the newest ver. or something close to see if it is a beta issue or not. i really miss threaded msg. if anyone has info on the latest ver please let me know or send me a link

I had this problem too. Its a known bug. No fix as of yet. Sucks because I miss this app. But I just couldn't stand sending one person the same message 5 times.

seems like its the program itself...i've read that treo 750 users are having the exact same problem! i guess thats the reason why it wasn't included on the sprint's 700wx...i hope a chat style app arrives soon :(

got this and it's working great on my Wizard.
However, the notifications for new messages are weird - I can set them in sounds and notifications and it'll work - for a bit. If I check it later it's reset back to no alert, which is a pain.
Anyone seen this and got a fix?

after a few weeks of using this, i'm missing incoming messages - definitely missing voicemail alerts, and it'll sometimes say "1 text message" on the today screen, then have nothing in the inbox. Not sure I trust it now...

Same here the app works awesome but some people would get the same txt message like 20 times and sometimes they wouldnt receive a message till the next day.

Very sad this type of app should be default for txt messages..

i dont ever have an issue with dup messages.. and there was a fix earlier in this thread for that type of behavior.. ***edit*** i dont know if the fixe's are in this thread or not, i thought this was the other thread.. :D http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308881 this thread may also have a better cab for you to use..

However.. some of you are describing a different problem and i think its related when going from one carrier to another... the only time's i have issues with the multiple or lagging texts is when i (on cing/att) send or recieve text from someone on tmousa, sprint, or verizon... but when i text someone on cing/att i dont have this problem

For sure, Once I used it on my Excalibar, but there is problem, once you click into a chat, You have to terminate the process from the control panel, then re-open the program.

Im getting the following error on my Sprint 700wx whenever i try to text an email address: "Could not send message. The message center number or the email center number is invalid. Please contact the wireless operator." Was this issue ever solved? Or am i doomed to send emails thur outlook only?

What about sending? I tested it and it is redusing quality when sending... about 4 colors and so on. :mad:

if your using the new wm6 version it will automactically scale down pictures that are to large...

I got no sent sms notification after I install in on my XDA mini s, aka wizard,
also if I open a message in landscape mode, the font is small even if switch back to portrait, but if I open message from portrait, font size is normal and stay even I open it and switch to landscape,

any wizard user here? pls make some comment, should I reinstall it or it is normal this way?

I can successfully replicate the issue - but uncertain if there is a fix, or if one is needed.

Upon opening the SMS app, if you change to landscape mode from the Inbox prior to selecting a conversation, it opens with the smaller font.

If you select the conversation prior to changing to landscape mode, it opens with the normal size font.

na happens on the hermes too.. u have to remember the treo doesnt switch resolutions.. thats why it acts funny on the wiz/herm

hey guys, my palm messaging works fine except for one thing it keeps telling me that im not signed in with a trusted certificate.... and that i need to sign in with a trusted certificate or re install the program... i have reintalled the program several times... can anyone please help?:confused:

This is a gread app. however, I also want to know how to backup sms under this app, as Jeyo couldn't save sms under this app. Thx.

you can search for a file named "PalmMsgV001" it's located under "\windows" folder, you can copy that file to your storage card then you can replaced that file again.

Anyone looking for this app should send an email to threadedsms@gmail.com

You will receive an autoreply with a Rapidshare link to the software. It works fine on my Tilt with Dutty's ROM, but install at your own risk.

Also, keep in mine the threaded sms app doesn't work properly on the stock ROMs that have combined SMS/MMS inboxes. If your ROM has a split inbox it should work. Otherwise you will not be able to send MMS messages.

I've installed this app and I've read much of this thread but forgive me if I missed this somewhere.

I had about 30 texts in my Inbox and Sent box. When I install the Palm Threading it collects all the texts from the Inbox and threads them but does not bring over what I had in the Sent box.

Anyone help? Thanks!

I've seen literally hundreds of posts relating to MMS not working after the Palm Threaded SMS app was installed on the TILT. I don't understand what you mean by a "split inbox". I'm using a stock ROM but would be willing to move to a cooked one if I can get SMS/MMS/Treading all working in harmony. Is there a way to "split" my inbox without going to a cooked ROM?

I guess im too big of a newbie ot figure this out. I downloaded the file from the link that was sent to me but now what? It saved to a folder and there is a setup icon and many other files. What do I need to do to get this working on my phone. Also if I dont like it how easy is it to get rid of?

I discovered a very reliable threaded SMS client for Pocket PC Phone. It handles both square and rectangular displays. It has some good configuration options for the display and has an excellent popup notification functionality too.

Downsides are that it only runs on WM 5.0 or better and the license needs to be activated.

Otherwise, a nice simple application which is not so hot on graphics and presentation but has good functionality/setup opions.

I am using the shogunmark_wm6_threaded on my tmobile shadow and am unable to close the messages when i open or start a conversation. i have to reset my phone or goto task manager and stop the aapp in order to get to the main messaging screen.

Do you have any idea on how to go back to the main screen? on the menu i do not have a close option

Installed on HTC s640 (Isis) Smart Phone, works great. WM6.0 standard here

the options items are buggy because of the display resolution. but having a treo 700WX as well i know where the options i need are.

Just thought id let u guys know. Also u need an HTC s640 section :)

is there anyway I can have incoming messages appear on the original WM6 messenging software as well? This is cause i like to use SPB Diary to display latest SMS on my today screen and now it does not see anything cause it reads from the original WM6 Messenging software and not the Palm Threaded SMS software...

any ideas?

i know that voice command 1.6 can annouce incoming text messages. some refers to have them be called sms. regardless of the case, it annouces incoming text (sms). when i installed palm's threaded sms, my incoming text is not pronoucing it. can you help to explain why? if there is a fix for this, plz explain. thanks!!

Alright well I installed this on my Treo 700wx, and two Inbox apps in my phone "Inbox" and "Inbox (1)" then I have "Messaging" Is this normal? Also, I tried to send an MMS to myself, but my Treo said out of memory error, though it's the only app that's running. Help please? I'd really love not to read though all 58 staggering pages on this thread. Much is appreaciated!

i am using palm treo pro with wm6.1. i have installed palm messaging application. it is working great but i am not able to backup my text messages with microsoft my phone. any help will be very much appreciated.

If I recall correct the file Palm uses to store their messages is called: "PalmMsgV001". You should be able to backup this file and restore it later.
It has been over two year since I've had a Treo that uses the Palm threaded messaging app ;)
