Okay, I've searched through the registry and \windows folder and cannot find the startup noise that is played after a soft reset, when the system is loading.
It's very loud and would like to get rid of it. I do have my "system" sounds turned off e.g. "Events" and it doesn't help.

Try here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Palm\Varnish\DialLooku pPlugin\PhoneStatus

Nope. I saw that one too.
That's for turning the phone (radio) on/off and then it shows you that Carrier logo splash screen.
I need when WM5 boots up...
In fact, I can't even find the sound file that is playing when it boots. I thought it was "notify.wav" but that's not it.
You'd think it would be here:
\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\SystemStart \Sound
But \SystemStart\Sound doesn't exist and I can't find anything similar.
Really baffling (and yes, I know I could just throw the vibrate switch on, but not at 4 am when I do a sched. reset!).

I, too, have been searching for this one. The problem isn't technically when restarting the Treo 700wx, it actually had to do with the device realizing that an SD card has been inserted (which it happens to do at startup).
Here's the registry key:
HKCU\\ControlPanel\Volume\SDInsertSound\File
This was set to "Alarm1.wav", I changed it to "No Sound.mid" (a blank sound file).
Enjoy!
