odd icon... what is it?

i have an icon that randomly appears on my xda, and i'm curious what it is. when it pops up during a game in pocketnester, the emulation slows down for a sec, so if it can be stopped, i'd love to... problem is, when i tap it, it disappears, and i have no idea what the icon means. any ideas?

i managed to get a screenshot of it, which i've cropped and attached.

it's when the program which display contact pictures when the phone ring get closed by the system and restarts itself
