Even thought this has been covered many times, I will be nice and give you a small run down. Next time just use Google to find you answers

SIM Unlock = Use any carrier's SIM in the device
CID Unlock = Load any carrier ROM on the device.

Application Unlock = Most smart phones only allow you to load applications that have an acceptable digital signature. If you try to edit the registry or load an application it will give you an error. Application Unlocking removes this barrier and allows you to install any application or edit the registry to your liking.

Also, so you know, I did do a Google search on this issue. I found thousands of articles that relate to CID Unlocking; however, none of the ones I scanned seemed to explain what it actually meant -- only how to do it or not do it. I'm sure an appropriate article is out there somewhere, but after 10 minutes of searching, I figured questions like these are precisely the reason why support forums such as this one exist. To be honest, there's probably very little information that exists here which hasn't been published *somewhere* already -- if you're willing to search hard enough.

The reason I am mentioning this is that I see many, many posts by the "more experienced" or "more knowledgeable" users criticizing people for posting questions which the more advanced user considers too simple. I feel that's unfortunate as, over the long term, it discourages people from supporting sites such as this one and, in fact, seems contrary to the purpose of this type of forum. Sites such as this one provide an invaluable service, and users such as yourself who take the time to answer questions are an indispensable resource. I would think it would be a good feeling to know that you can offer something that will help someone else!

Just connect through activesync and hit unlock, and your done, takes all of 5 seconds...hope this is what you wanted.:)

I thought i attached the file, I uploaded it and a bunch more apps to ftp all for dash, including some real useful ones like MS voice command 1.6 for sp5, and netcf2 update, and then some themes and utilities...hope that helps.

Can you explain some of the applications you have uploaded?
For example is the HTCUnlockInstaller.cab an app, sim, or cid unlocker? Does it do the same as the .exe app unlocker?

What you're trying to do, it seems, is SIM unlock the phone, which the SDA Unlocker won't do. IMEI-Check is the only place to go to right now to SIM unlock, I believe, and they charge $38. That or be a customer with T-Mobile for more than 90 days.

If you re-read this post you will see the link to the application unlockers. ;) if your looking to unlock it to use it on another network and if your not a t-mobile customer you will have to go through a pay site such as IMEI-Check.com. This will also CID unlock your phone so that you can load other ROM's on it.

Rogers seems to be taking extra steps to block you from App unlocking these things. I got it SIM and CID unlocked, but NONE of the App unlock methods suggested work. It all reports "insufficient permission" or "access denied"

You will have to flash the phone with wm6 beta then it is completly unlocked. IU tired for 2 days tring stuff and you can remove the two-tier security without re-flashing. load the wm6-beta or the standard HTC rom and everything works ok.,

has anybody got this to work with the official WM6 for t-mo ? i tried all the versions i could find and all produce similar results. At first , i thought i didn't need it, but realized i can't change attributes on files in the /windows directory and i can't change some of the registry settings. So i assume this is what i need?

i always app unlock. why not? its free and takes 2 secs.
you never know what background app is causing problems or leaking memory because it's being blocked by the os. also some registry changes don't work until its unlocked.

I have downloaded the app unlock file from surreal, and installed them, and i still cannot get opera mini to run on my dash. i have managed to get others like yahoo 2 go, and google maps working but not opera mini, and not a bunch of other java based programs. can this problem be fixed?. opera mini was running before i upgraded from windows mobile 5 to 6. the thing is i have everything else working, and if i go and change settings, then isn't it possible that all the other apps will stop functioning. the strange thing is i can use fring, and opera mini on the dash, whilst the phone is plugged in to the usb cable on the pc. why is that. as soon as i disconnect the dash from the cable, both opera mini and fring stop working. damn, its driving me nuts.

Unfortunately this doesn't work.

I have tried this and every other method I can find and none of them seem to work.

I am using a CID unlocked, Rogers S621, running T-Mo WM6 Standard

When I try to install BB Connect I get:

Error
Unable to install. Uncertified system software detected.

Anyone know what the problem is? Or anything else I can try?

when you plug into the pc the phone is using the pc's internet connection.

if you are using a proxy forget about using mini unless you switch to an htc rom.

Hey all

I'm trying to install Skype Mobile on my Dash and it just won't do it. I keep getting the message: Installation of SkypeforPocketPC was unsuccessful.

I am running WM6 from T-Mobile. I am trying the latest .cab file from Skype. I have tried to run Apps Unlock, but it says theat it's for an older version of WM (probably 5.5)

Any ideas? Do I need to downgrade to 5.5? Is there an Apps Unlock that works on 6?

Not true. Try this link. All of the tools you need to do this are in this folder. Just read the readme.txt and learn. That's what everyone here has to do. We share knowledge, but don't have time to force-feed it to you. Anyway, try out the link.

been reading through all these forums and have not been able to find out a FREE way to unlock a T-Mobile Dash. everyone keeps telling ppl who are asking to read the threads but there's really only 1 thread about unlocking the sim and you have to pay. why is jocky selling something that he isn't paying for? i think he needs to just post the program or the method he is using like has been done for most other phones. i own a touch pro and was able to unlock it very easily using these forums....so whats so special about the dash unlock?
