VistaHide Battery Gauge 1.1.1
- Default height is now 3 pixels instead of 4. I just find it nicer that way :)
- Added missing code needed to handle correctly screen rotation, and it is now working in version 1.1.1.
- Implemented code to make it work with the Smartphone edition. It is partly working. The bar appears at the top on every screen, except the home screen (in the emulator at least). Of course, if this is not a bug in the emulator, this makes it nearly useless (I think). Ideas anyone ?
If anyone uses this on a Smartphone, again, please report if it works as emulated.
See this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=281690) for more information.
Hope you enjoy.

EDIT: I feel kinda dumb now. I found out that you can rotate the screen in the Settings -> Screen panel. Duh! I could now actually test it, and found the bug. Sorry!
It should be fixed in version 1.1.1.
Thank you for testing!

Since I just saw the source code for this, I will implement it correctly for Smartphone in the next version. I will have time for this on Monday.

So this battery bar acts just like the battery bar from SPB Pocket Plus??
Running the exe file on my device will put the battery meter at the top of the screen? and if thats the case, for it to run when the device starts up, that means i would have to put a shortcut to it in the startup folder?

1. this program won't be able to be closed once launched. If it is launched when it is running, it will close the display, but the process still remains in memory.
2. Using task manager to close the process will kill the devices completely, only resetting can recover it.
need more work.

Do you mean Hard or Soft Reset??
Also, how much memory does it use when you viewed it in the task manager?

soft reset.
task manager can't tell the memory consuming well. I found 23 copies in task manager v2.7 when I was trying to edit the colores of the bar.

Wow, 23 copies??!!...did you run the exe 23 times? Is that the reason for so many copies

Just discovered this and it is very nice! It has now replaced the original (LVMTopBat) on my phone. I do like that it stretches full screen, which is one thing I wished LVMTopBat had. Good work!

Yes its possible. You just have to change the colors in registry.

First off Love this program, Runs great on my SP WM 5.
My question is I am trying to add the registry entry to adjust the height, I used :
HKCU\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 320\Height
- Window's height
DWORD - 10
All of these lines are folders, Correct? HKCU\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 320\Height
of course except HKCU\Software, which already exist
Then a dword value named Window's height and the value I made 10 ?
If my assumptions are correct it should change the height of the battery meter, well it doesn't.
Am I doing something wrong?
Please help:confused:

HKCU\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 320\Height
Am I doing something wrong?
Yes, I have made the same mistake : you must create a new value called "Height" in the key "240 x 320".
Anyway, great app ! I love it !
But I experienced the same bug as Cellneuron : re-running the app doesn't kill actual process : it just kill the display of the gauge (on a Eten X500+).

i used it on my C730 WM6, it looks & works great but it won't show up in the home screen, any other screen is fine.
i really like the colors of it, great job, hope you'll solve the problem on your next version, cheers~

Does anyone have this working as intended?
So my idea was to have a fullscreen gradient bar that would look "behind" VistaBetaTWO's WA2 Aero skin.
For me, it shows up in front of the start button.

You have to adjust the bar to not show the area where the start button is.
You can try these settings.
HKCU\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 240\Excluded Regions\Line 1\X : (DWORD) 13
HKCU\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 240\Excluded Regions\Line 1\Y : (DWORD) 0
HKCU\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 240\Excluded Regions\Line 1\Width : (DWORD) 11
HKCU\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 240\Excluded Regions\Line 1\Height : (DWORD) 1
HKCU\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 240\Excluded Regions\Line 2\X : (DWORD) 11
HKCU\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 240\Excluded Regions\Line 2\Y : (DWORD) 1
HKCU\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 240\Excluded Regions\Line 2\Width : (DWORD) 15
HKCU\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 240\Excluded Regions\Line 2\Height : (DWORD) 1
HKCU\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 240\Excluded Regions\Line 3\X : (DWORD) 10
HKCU\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 240\Excluded Regions\Line 3\Y : (DWORD) 2
HKCU\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 240\Excluded Regions\Line 3\Width : (DWORD) 17
HKCU\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 240\Excluded Regions\Line 3\Height : (DWORD) 1
HKCU\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 240\Excluded Regions\Line 4\X : (DWORD) 9
HKCU\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 240\Excluded Regions\Line 4\Y : (DWORD) 3
HKCU\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 240\Excluded Regions\Line 4\Width : (DWORD) 19

freeyayo50 . (Isn't he fee? ;) ) Thanks for the help. I'm sure something along those lines will work. It makes perfect sense now that I see how it's supposed to be configured.
mobowhunter, I'm using Wisbar Advance 3 (http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/products.php?prod=WisBar+Advance+3) with the Wisbar Advance 2 skin from the Vista Beta TWO skin suite (http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8874). Beware. If you go down that route, people release "skin suites" that have skins for many applications in them. I'm only using the Wisbar 2 skin (works in Wisbar 3) and nothing else in that skin suite. It can be confusing when you first dive in.

Thanks - I'm using it cos I need a small app to complete the functionality I used to have in larger software suites like PocketPlus.
Some ideas if you feel like practising your dev skills further:
You truly need to supply a .reg file with the settings for various devices (240 x 320 etc). New users are never gonna get this! Even for experienced users it takes ages to set up.
Probably worth writing a quick settings proggie
Above comments on process not being killed are correct. When u run the prog a second time, it kills the bar, but NOT the process. That's how u get 22 instances - by restarting 22 times whilst testing settings. Also, killing the process from a task manager hangs the touch screen, which means you can't delete it from startup and it gets loaded again on reboot. ie MUCH better to put an lnk in your startup folder!
[Edit]For users battling to kill process and remove from startup folder, it IS tough. You'll need to install a safe mode app (available freeware) to prevent the prog starting up, then kill the file in your startup folder. Alternatively, total commander can MOVE it to another folder, reboot, then you can delete from destination folder.

I posted this in the other thread before I saw this one.
Here is an example registry for the colors and other settings. I have not messed with the Exclude function yet.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VistaHide]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 320]
"Height"=dword:00000005
"Y"=dword:00000000
"Width"=dword:000000f0
"X"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 320\Colors]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 320\Colors\Background]
"Dark"=dword:00000000
"Normal"=dword:00202020
"Light"=dword:00404040
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 320\Colors\Critical]
"Dark"=dword:0000007f
"Normal"=dword:000000ff
"Light"=dword:007f7fff
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 320\Colors\Low]
"Dark"=dword:00007f7f
"Normal"=dword:0000ffff
"Light"=dword:007fffff
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 320\Colors\High]
"Dark"=dword:00007f00
"Normal"=dword:0000ff00
"Light"=dword:007fff7f
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VistaHide\Battery Gauge\240 x 320\Thresholds]
"High"=dword:00000064
"Low"=dword:00000019
"Critical"=dword:00000005
Edit: I went ahead and dug around a bit more. These should be the default values set up in the reg. I have not imported them to test as of yet, but this should be correct.
Note: It seems that it reads the color hex in the order Blue-Green-Red. A simple test is to enter the value 00FF0000 into one of the color regs. You would expect that region to turn red, but instead it shows as blue.
Here is a sample .reg if anyone wants to play with it. By no means is it great as I suck at graphics, but it will give you an idea of how to change things.

Just run the file attached by colonel00 and it will add the entries to your registry. It will be an ugly blueish bar,mind! :)

I played around with the registry entries listed in post #34. The attached reg file didn't work for me so I had to enter the keys manually. I made a few changes to the values and I'm pleased with the results. I thought I should share. I have attached a couple of screenshots and a .txt file with the values which got me the grey look if anyone is interested.

Hi:
I use and love vistahide battery gague.
I see some of you don't like the colors though. So, I thought I would mention that there is a program called Batti which is like vistahode, only configurable.

Mine is always visible. I create a shortcut via resco file explorer or Total COmmander and place it inthe windows/startup folder and it's always up, is that what yuou mean?
I've actually never had it "hide" on me so that is confusing

No, what I mean is having it also visible on the Today screen. Now in my Smartphone (Htc S730 - WM6 Standard) with VistaHide Battery Gauge running, the Today screen seems to cover the battery meter, making it invisible. I would like to have it there at all times (so also on the Today screen - like the one form Spb Pocket Plus in my iPaq)

Oh, i see. Sorry, can't help you there :(
Tested on my HTC S640 smartphone. (320x240 screen size)
It works but there is a bug as you had indicated where it works on every screen but the home screen :(
I am willing to do more testing if you would like. Drop me a PM and we can take it from there.

Nice Guage.....
I have also a nice idea, why not do like with Vista during a copy task while the device is charging.
That is let a small part of the bar light up from left to right. (Highlight)

Since this is just a .exe file you can copy it over to your storage card and run it from there. As the author indicates, if you don't want it, run the same file again it'll stop it.
If you want to run it automatically every time you reboot your phone, put it in the windows/startup folder, or create shortcut and put the shortcut in that folder.
I like this one better than lvm's version. Looks great.
