Anyone have an original shipped Vodafone ROM? Upgraded to the Cingular release and wanting to revert back, didn't see it posted in the wiki or FTP.

I'd like to do the same thing actually. I think the Cingular ROM has made my 750 a little unstable. Either that or Cingular's doing stuff to the network in my area and it's affecting my phone. I think it's the Cingular ROM though.

I too am seeing funny things going on with the Cingular ROM installed. I want to go back to the Voda ROM (original version).

I have search MANY forums all over the world and cannot find the original Voda ROM for this phone.

Whoever gets it, please let me know so I can get it.

Thanks

You will need to wait until Vodafone releases an update for the Treo 750v before you can restore their ROM.

Hi,

I just bought a Used 750v - it was originally the Vodafone 750v but it looks like the Cingular ROM has been installed on it.

I am looking to Restore it back to the Factory Default.

thanks!

I hear new Vodafone rom for the 750v will be out at the end of the month (End of Jan), this will also be of a higher AKU... Still no HSDPA support, that comes in March/April time with another update....

I'd rather have a Cingular ROM than a Vodafone ROM with AKU2.6...AKU2.3 and AKU2.6 aren't really different at all. But an AKU3.x ROM, now we're talkin... ;)

Calico, if it remained untouched, are you considering exchanging it with my original English-ROM version? Where are you based?

At this point my hunch is the descision to release is actually not up to Palm anymore, I have a hunch they already released it to Vodafone which means it would now be up to Vodafone to make it public.

What about bug-fixes (for example the ringer switch performance, also my keyboard sometimes does not function, when I soft reset the device it works again)

Battery life improvement...

So many things that could be improved in a rom update.

marsonist
25th January 2007, 05:20 AM
Palm certainly has a few things that a ROM update could/should improve upon such as what tjmvdz listed as well as losing memory cards, volume controls not always functioning properly, and blinking lights on notifications. Other threads have already listed some deficiencies and most if not all of them should be addressable via ROM updates.

To each his own, but my experience has been that WM ROM updates have almost always been something to look forward to.

I will ask it at the pocketinfo.nl site. I didn't install it yet.
Also there's a PDF how to install it.
The downloaded rom should be copied to your miniSD card and charger plugged in. Also you need to push some buttons.
I can translate the how too for you, only XDA site is damn slow, very slow. It takes 3minutes to load one page.
Will inform you when they confirm if it is a english or dutch rom. I guess it is english, my treo came original from holland and my rom is english.

1. Download the NBH file, extract and rename it to CHEEIMG.NBH
2. Format a miniSD card in FAT32 copy CHEEIMG.NBH to the card.
3. With the device fully charged, remove the SIM and insert card from #2
4. Press and hold PTT button [button bellow volume down] then press and hold stylus to the soft reset hole
5. You will be prompted to press the power button to begin the update. Press it.
6. Wait 5 to 10 mins until the update completes
7. Do a Hard Reset upon completion [HR= device on, press and hold power button and hold stylus to soft reset hole until prompted to press up on the dpad]

I'm getting problems installing apps with new ROM, maybe it's because I've formatted card 2 times (kingmax 1 gb) or because of new ROM.

I can install several apps, but then the next app is trying to install & on the half way message popups, saying it can't be installed on Storage Card.

Then when I'm in programs menu - installed apps have default windows icon, and there're no .exe-files in the programs directory on the card.

Very-very strange. I've tried on FAT32 card, and on the FAT-card, still the same thing.

Can somebody check if their card is working properly with new ROM?

I removed my Rapidshare link to the older Vodafone NL release. The Vodafone release addressed virtually none of the issues that we're all reporting with the 750. Hopefully the link to the newer release will correct more of our problems. In case Vodafone takes it down again, I've linked to it at http://rapidshare.com/files/17712778/DesktopUpdaterEN_release_1.16.exe.

If anyone has insight to share on the new release, I suggest that we all use BNYCASTRO's link to the TreoCentral discussion here: http://discussion.treocentral.com/showthread.php?p=1203904#post1203904

Hi there,

Have tried to flash my Treo 750v with the Vodafone NL Rom but to no avail... I still stay stuck in the rainbow screen. My mini sd IS formatted in FAT32 and I have followed all the instructions quite precisely. This also happens if I try to install the Cingular ROM.

When the phone boots back on, it goes rainbow coloured, then quickly shows a loading screen, then goes back to rainbow with either USB or SERIAL written on the bottom, indicating wether i'm plugged or unplugged from my pc.

Any help on flashing my Treo would be greatly appreciated, as my Treo is in German and I can't speak a word of it :D Bloody salesman told me I could set it back to english no problem... :(

Thx in advance

ROM Update and SIM unlock are two different things. If you have a SIM lock before the flash you will have it again after the flash. If your phone is not SIM locked it will not be SIM locked after the flash.

hi all. i am VERY new poster here but have been reading for a while.

i have a 750v from vodafone spain (i live in madrid) and am desperate to get it into english.

i have a cell phone rental business ( http://www.onspanishtime.com ) and am going to start renting the 750v to my high-end clients for e-mail and web use while visiting spain but 99.99999% of my clients are americans and canadians so i ABSOLUTELY need this thing to be in english.

Skyryser, i feel your pain my man! vodafone spain swore up and down that the unit would have the option to change to english, crap!

i have the same problem aussienick and Skyryser have.

the rainbow screen of death!!!

i see that i need to format my mini SD in FAT32 but i do nto have a card reader to do it on my p.c.

anyone know if it can be formated to FAT32 in the actual 750v itself?

i found this program --> http://software.gsmarena.com/product.asp?id=8091 .

would that do it or can i do without it?
for the $12.95 they ask for that program i could get a card reader here so not sure if it is worht buying that program.

aussienick and Skyryser, did you manage to get past the rainbow screen of death? if so, how?

any help/tips would be great.

thanks in advance.

ok, after posting above i realized that my hp printer has card readers on it so i inserted my mini sd card and used the windows xp disk manager to format to FAT32.

i tried again to run the rom on my 750v and it worked like a charm, no more rainbow screen of death.

it is now in english and from what i can tell by testing over the past few hours, all seems to work well. only time will test fully.

new question, i used the vodafone nl rom that was linked to download on this thread but i have read it has no HSDPA support.

anyone know when there will be a newer version with HSDPA?

OS 5.1.195 (Build 14959.2.3.2)

Software version: TREO750-1.13-CNG

Firmware Version 1.17.20.00

Is there any benifit to me if i upgraded with the vodafone nl miniSD method, and can i revert to my old CNG rom if i find any problems in the new upgrade?

And regarding the HSDPA, as long as I know it is enabled in my device by default, is it true?, and if yes, will it be still active after upgrading with vodafone?

Tahank u very much for ur prompt reply, but sorry, due to the bad construction of my post, i got some confused. what i undersatnd is as follow, please confirm:

1- I will not gain any benifit from the upgrade. It is better to wait the wm6 upgrade.

2- I cannot revert unless i have the CING rom that is not available (the rom of 21-10-2006, is older than mine, I think, right? and is there any dumper to obtain an image of my current CING ROM?

3- My current ROM is HSPDA enabled right?

Sorry for my primitive questions, but I am a newbie in treo, after 5 years experence of other HTC PPC especally that of imate branded ones, ended with JasJar who dropped from me and lost its sound. So, i coverted to treo and hoping too much in your support.

1 - this is correct. Take note Voda ROMs don't have MSN messenger so if you use it a lot you'll be giving that up. I suggest waiting for the HSDPA ROM or WM6 ROM.
2 - this is correct. However I think if you get an image dump it's not enough you have to fix it to make it flashable to the Treo.
3 - no your current ROM is not HSDPA enabled there is a hack to enable HSDPA I think it's on this forum too.

Thanx for reply, regarding for the 3rd points and in a comparison between the treo 750v and treo750 (for cing, it should be as all we know) the GSMARENA ( http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone2=1704&idPhone1=1909 )
they denoted that the cing is HSDPA and the Voda is UMTS. The questions is how can i know if my device s HSDPA or not, considering that I am in Egypt and my carrier logo is U in some areas and G in other areas. And if I used the HSDPA patch, is it permenant or also volatile with the rom. i.e. if i do hard reset, the HSDPA will go also with my data??

HSDPA is under UMTS. Even if you have HSDPA enabled you will only see a U with small arrows. The best way to check if you have HSDPA is to check your connection speed.

Both Cingualr and Voda have the same hardware both can do UMTS and HSDPA but both don't have this enabled in ROM. The palm 750 [sold directly by palm] also has the same hardware but is said to have HSDPA enabled by default in ROM since it was released later than the Cing and Voda versions.

I have a original Vodafone ROM, well its unlocked but I don't know how to copy it, if someone will guide me through it, I wouldn't giving it up to everyone.

I want it badly, pls upload it to rapidshare.
