A new test ROM for the HTC Artemis is available on xda-developers!

ROM Version: 1.12.405.1 WWE (World Wide English)
Radio Version: P4.1.13.28_02.67.9
Bootloader: 1.12.0000
CID: HTC__001

You can find the ROM upgrade on the "Shipped Complete ROM (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Artemis_Upgrades)" section of the Artemis wiki page (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Artemis) or in xda-developers ftp:

I don't own an Artemis and can't test it so I don't know what's on this ROM and what's different from the previous one, if you try it please post details about it.

Hi thanks for the ROM. It's good to see support even before the device is released! (at least in my country..)

It's gonna be released as the Dopod P800W here, and I was wondering if I can use this ROM *in case* the Dopod one isn't as good.

Havent tried with hacked ROMs before (didnt have appropriate device) that's why I'm asking.

Is there a hacked ROMUpdateutility.exe already out?
I tried to update with the hacked one from the HTC Prophet but it always tells my File not found but the filename is the same so i think HTC did a good job here to prevent it.
Any ideas?

your device seems to flashed with pre-production bootloader. I sorry to say that, but you need to upgrade your bootloader first. Otherwise you would not be able to flash new firmware to your device.

So is there any way to upgrade the bootloader seperatly?

The only one reason why I reflash my device was that originally it was with the French ROM, so it was unappropriated for me.
So now I have this "Test WWE" ROM on my device and did not notice any difference with "certified French" ROM. Only one thing, when you soft-resetting the device, it will show screen says "TEST UI..... blah-blah-blah".

Tmouk_wwe is a t-mobile rom! I'm almost sure you don't want this one!!!

Can I update my O2 XDA Orbit with these newer ROMs? I'm assuming I can because the hardware and base OS are the same, right?

If I look at the Device Information screen, I see earlier versions to those shown in the original post of this thread, for example my ROM is "1.25.206.2 WWE".

I bought one which comes with Russian ROM, and hence the Russian UI. All I want is to have English version, as many here do, but then when I try to upgrade with this ROM I also get "Invalid Model ID".

The thing is that I am quite sure that it is not locked, as it was bought from a mobile retailer, not from mobile service provider, and I use the SIM from my previous mobile - HP 6510. So how come I am unable to upgrade the ROM. I am ding to have English version of WM5 on this gadget.

you are not quite on the right track and mixing up definitions.

*Unblocking means you can use any sim/ provider.
*CID unlocking means to go deeper into the security sections, unblock and unlock-- so to be able to flash alternative but compatible roms!!!

The story with the test roms on the wiki is that I havnt found out to get them working on my hero-- seems incompatible due to diffrent bootloader etc.

The tmouk and dopod roms, all english, do work on most cid unlocked devices (seems some orbit users have some or the other issue there, dont know why though).

Simply rule though: "Wrong model id" simply means incompatible rom. To turn to tested compatibility --- cid unlock. Only way I know of:

i flash simple, just try to run *WWE*.exe and got error -> Wrong model id..

are is other flashing method?

Device still does not accept different ROMs.

Well, My P3300 was not sim-locked when bought from expansys (Ihate long-term contracts :( ) but wanted to tryout the various roms around out of boredom and not ços of any issue.

bought unlocker from imeicheck and unlocked it. Tested flash of dopod rom was ok, but i stopped untill i can find final HTC rom, and not the "test only" one that would bugger my screen at every soft-reset. Just in case I want to restore my original rom.

Maybe imeicheck does not work for you, or you supplied the wrong data to them, but worked for me :)

Which ROM are you comparing with? There are definately differences between this and the Dopd one. I have "stollen" one good thing from Dopod and reverted to this one (which was my original rom pre-installed).

I took out the Task Manager (2 files)

Currently back on the Dopod ROM after removing the operator configurations etc. that I do not need. I have just noticed a bug or two:

The input panel "shrinks" when I use transcriber, showing the today screen when I try to write.

The time zone also keeps shifting to GMT +8 but you can fix that by setting both home and visiting time to the same zone. This is not on the HTC Ship ROM

Earlier this week Tom Codon has released his new ROM for WM6.1.
Really works great.

The old WM's has lots of error in it.
