MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe does not recognize the ROM --- HELP me please

hello ,

i bought an i-mate jam , but the OS version language is in french. At first activesync worked correctly , but now i' m trying to connect the magician even on others pc and other version of activesyc ... but doesn' t work !!
So I red carefully all the threads and post of this forum and download rom and instructions for doing an upgrade to Italian Language Version :

I enter on the bootloader mode, I disactivate activesync , and now when I plug in the USB cable, I see a write USB v.1.02 sO i think the pc recognize the pda , but when I launch MaupgradeUt , does not recognize the i-mate ROM version, I tried many times , even with other pcs , but nothing !!!

BUT I'M NOT USING THE ORIGINAL USB CABLE OF I-MATE , BEACUSE WHEN I BOUGHT IT THEY DID NOT GIVE ME. I' M USING A MINI-USB CABLE OF BLACKBERRY , BUT IN THIS FORUM I RED THAT IS THE SAME ...

I ALSO DOWNLOAD THE LAST GUIDE FOR UPGRADING MAGICIAN ...

Does someone know where is the problem ? When I unplug the usb cable Do I have to hard reset any time after i enter the bootloader ?

Please help me, even becuse with this Rom I cannot use activesync for install programs ....

p.s. : the phone works correctly, the only problem is activesync

About the ROM upgrade - your cable is fine, if the PDA detects the USB connection (ie. shows 'USB' on screen) then the connection is fine. Try running romupdate.exe and getting it to backup your ROM by using the 'd2s' command (its somewhere in my guide... sorry I'm in a hurry so I can't give you the exact location yet). If this suceeds, then you should be clear to attempt an upgrade regardless of whether the update software detects your current ROM version or not - but keep that ROM image on the SD card just in case. The worst thing that will happen is that your ROM will be corrupted (this is rare), but even then it is a rather painless process to restore your original ROM since you have it backed up on your SD card.

About the ActiveSync problem - try soft resetting your Magician. If it still doesn't work, try a hard reset (but back up your data first, of course). ActiveSync can be rather glitchy sometimes.

I tried the instructions you gave me on the post ,, i tried doing the backup rom with all the instructions of your PDF guide but :

- the phone gave me USB ver. 1.02 ,
disactivate the activesync ,
run romupdate.exe
- but on the port setting I had only two options COM1 and COM2 , but no way for \\.\WCEUSBSH001


Have I any possibility to change the ROM , maybe with a flash SD CARD method ?

WITHOUT DOING A ROM BACKUP ( ROMUPDATE DOES NOT WORK WITH MY PDA -)




- Today I even tried on my brother pc portatile , but here the " MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe " WAS about 3 hours saying me to not disconnect the pda .... but after 3 hours I unplugGed it , i did a soft reset and automatically installed all the applications ( hard reset)

instead on my pc it does not recognize the rom

- When I received the phone activesync was working fine , then I download an italian version rom from clubimate, I ran it , and give me " Country ID Error" , FROM THAT MOMENT ON MY PDA NEVER RECOGNIZE AGAIN ACTIVESYNC on any type of PC

is it possible that the wizard originale rom corupt my pda?
the only problem is the activesync

- BUT IF ON THE BOOTLOADER IT GIVES ME USB V.1.02 IS THERE A POSSIBILITY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM?


- Is there a way to flash the ROM from the SD CARD ?

- Is there a probality that with a new ROM , activesync will work again ?
