It's always up to you to upgrade your device with other people's ROM or not. If you feel it's full of junks, then just don't upgrade your device or just do it yourself.

are all the "junk-soft" in the extrom or in the ROM? is it possible to "debranded" the ROM whith making a soft reset after align the screnn? Will all this software (many unusefull for my using) don't install and we can choose afterwards what we want to install then?

I'm currently using the RUU_Prophet_G3_2151327_AKU23_023021_P16MB_PDAMobiz _v2307 ROM that "is full of junk built into the ROM". I'm not complaining even though it is not 100% to my liking. I thank the people over at PDAMobiz for giving us this ROM and showing us the trick to CID unlock our devices.

I think in our zealousness to tinker constantly with our devices, we have become greedy Uncle SCROOGEs... always asking & asking and forgetting to say thanks.

And thank u Jesterz for notifying the rest of us. Let us have your review ok? Maybe some of our Thai friends can give a breakdown of the info on the site...?

It's always up to you to upgrade your device with other people's ROM or not. If you feel it's full of junks, then just don't upgrade your device or just do it yourself.

Please be calm. First we should say THANKS for the effort, whatever our liking or not.

Then, we could suggest things to improuve. I myself might dislike many of the things included in someone's else cooked ROM, but suggesting to move them to another file and then allowing us to install them "one at a time" from, let's say, an SD card, is not a bitter complain.

BTW, as soon as an easy "ROM kitchen cooking" tool becomes available for Prophet I'm sure there will be no more complains in that matter....

I'm using Radio 2.30.21, not very happy at this time, since battery depletes at at astonishing rate and my prophet disconnects itself overnight. Are the different versions compatible with the new AKU?

Thanks, Putra and Looking Glass. Sorry if my previous post might be a little offending. I'm not in the PDAMobiz team but always respect them for their constant effort to make new ROMs for our use and never asked for anything. I also know that all of us here are also pleased to help each other without asking for any reward.
In fact, I also don't like some softwares in the PDAMobiz customized ROM but never complaint that those are junks. I agree that we could suggest things to improve and I think they are welcome any comments or suggestions. I think it would be great if our requests are more friendly. It might take time though to make a new ROM after our suggestions.
By the mean time, if you don't want to use any software in that ROM, just delete their shortcuts from /Windows/Start Menu/Programs. Their existence in your ROM doesn't make any harm to your device. If you have time to learn how to modify ROM image, then you could delete those softwares from the ROM and add any other things in. Then you will get your completely customized ROM.

These 2 new ROMs will downgrade your Radio ROM back to 2.19.21. You could, however, upgrade it back to whatever you like. The developer suggested version 2.20.21 because it's more stable and less battery drained:

It's 8 MB so you will get 48 MB RAM instead of 44 MB by default (12 MB pagepool size).

Personally I can't really tell the speed diff between the default 12MB pagepool and my current 16MB (PDAMobiz v2307 ROM). So, will the 8MB be noticeably different?

Thanks Jesterz. I flashed AKU3.2 but I'm getting the same problem as purp, i.e. the device is stuck on the Dopod flash screen and just stays there. The OS version is 2.26.10.2 so that seems to be correct.

I think I'm going back to Dopod's 2.15 ROM now.

If I were you I wouldn't choose any of them :-) I ended up with a device stuck on a splash screen. Currently reverting to 2.15 WWE Dopod ROM. Only way to do it was via Bootloader.

well it installed smoothly on my g3 qtek-s200 it took about 12-15 minutes. after instalation, i had to do a hard reset because phone didn't work - couldn't find service but now is ok. anyway i also updated radio rom to 2.20.21 and it's all good. it's also recharging by usb connection (opposite to someone statement that it doesn't).

OK I managed to install the AKU 3.2 ROM now. In order to install please ensure you have the Dopod 2.15 ROM installed first. Then hard reset the device. When you get the "Tap the screen to ...." screen start the AKU 3.2 update. If you skip this part it won't install properly.

5) When in bootloader screen, start the ROM update that you downloaded from the Dopod website (executable).
6) This will start the normal ROM flash program
7) Enjoy!

I have already installed AKU 3.2 ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=279140) and I have been using this ROM for past 2 weeks or so...there are few problems with 3.2 ROM....and charging of phone while connected to computer is one of biggest problem i have seen although it happens intermittently...not all the time (which is strange...)....and other problems like MSN, Voice dialer are not working ...

So I was looking for info on how to go back to AKU 2.3 .... do i need to do CID unlock for this..? Can someone help me in this regard ?

To help people to upgrade your device, I try to translate the instrutions from PDAMobiz.

To avoid unnecessary error, please follow these steps carefully:

1. Backup your data, charge the battery to >70%, take off your SD card and SIM card

2. Downgrade your device to official ROM first by:
http://files.pdamobiz.com/ROMs/XDA/Prophet/RUU_Prophet_2151327_21513121_021921_DOP_ASIA_WWE_S hip.exe for Dopod or
http://www.o2online.de/o2/kunden/technikundeinst/exclusive/xda/xdaneo/update/xda-neo-update.exe for Neo

3. After official ROM downgrade, wait until your device shows the align screen instruction, stop here, sync it to your computer as Guest

4. Run the downloaded ROM upgrade file (2.3 or 3.2 versions), you will see the DOS command box, wait for the initiation (may take a few minutes), don't do anything with your device even it has a popup saying "success"

5. DOS commands will run until completion that may take about 15-20 minutes, do not touch anything during these processes

6. When your DOS box shows: Enjoy Tapping, Good luck (without any error message), it means that you have finished the upgrade

7. Hard reset your device by holding Camera + CommManager buttons while tapping the reset hole, wait for the prompt to press the Phone button

Which one will I need for my SPL? I take it that it is a G3 chipset? Will I "brick" my phone?

Any chipset with/without CID unlock can be upgraded by these kits. Just follow all steps carefully.

Has anyone tried this ROM?

I am really interested in this ROM, but my G4 prophet has not CID unlocked, and I do not want to brick my device. I am afraid if something bad happen during upgrading to this ROM, I may not be able to go back to my previous ROM because of the CID issue.

Just a bit of warning!
After upgrading to pdamobiz 2.3, I noticed some problems in the first run: OPERA browser WASN'T working, some other programs either... So I tried the new 3.2.
It installed OK, but after a smooth proces.. my Extended_ROM2 folder was empty, no apps there.
So I copied to a temp folder the extrom folder files found in the extracted pdamobiz file, and ran EVERY cab manually. (Extended_ROM2 folder is Write protected ¿?)
I didn't liked the final result either, so I decided to re-run the process of upgrading. NO LUCK! I GOT STUCK AT THE DOPOD SPLASH SCREEN.
I'm downloading now an older rom just to get out of bootloader mode!.
I'm considering seriously if this upgrade worths all that mess! several hours lost......

Since this is my first post here, I guess I'll make it worthwhile.

I had installed the PDAMobiz_Prophet_WM5AKU2.3_v2320.rar and found there are quite a bit of "extra" applications in which I do not need. So I had extracted lvsw edition (2006-10-05_Upgrade ROM_AKU2.3_lvsw.zip) and edited the UPGRADE_ROM.bat file to empty and install the necessary cabs in the extrom only (not to flash my device). There aren't much unnecessary apps in his edition of extrom though.

The lvsw version was from ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Prophet/Prophet-roms/AKU2.3_4pda_develpers/2006-10-05_Upgrade ROM_AKU2.3_lvsw.rar which was posted in another thread.

Here's what I had done...
1) Download the ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Prophet/Prophet-roms/PDAMobiz_Prophet_WM5AKU2.3_v2320.rar
2) Connect device, extract the rar into a known folder and run the extracted EXE
3) After patching, do not hard reset first
4) Extract the lvsw version and edit the UPGRADE_ROM.bat (it's a text file though)
5) Edit
ECHO * Next is to upgrade OS
ECHO *
ECHO UPGrade OS to AKU2.3 RuChonburi PDAMobiz Edition... DO NOT DISCONNECT UNTIL PC Process Finish...

6) Run UPGRADE_ROM.bat and wait till the prompt "Press Any Key To Continue"

Some extras I had did on my device:-
1) Upgraded the radio to a more "stable" version. ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Prophet/Prophet-roms/RadioRom/Prophet_G3_RadioRom_v2.20.21.exe Be warned that AVAST antivirus may report it as a trojan.
2) There are cabs in the lvsw edition that allows you to unhide the ext_rom as storage but I had not sucessfully install any thing there

Oh yeah, I'm running a G3 device here (Dopod818), all patches work flawlessly. Many thanks for those who had brought all these upgrades to everyone in the world.

It seems like the \Windows directory still have all the "extra" applications despite the measure to rebrand the ext_rom as mentioned in my earlier post. I guess I need to flash it back to lvsw rom at the moment.

@ Khuanchai: Thanks for your help, I flashed my G3 to the Prophet_WM5AKU3.2_v3220_lvsw_edition.exe edition and all seems well and VERY stable, it boots 50 or even 100 times faster!! Applications run better not even overclocked AND I have the clock on my taskbar back!

Can you please tell me which CAB i shouls install from your AKU3.2 Rom Edition (What i need is only CABs which solve issues).

What is the difference between the newest official rom, AKU 2.3 and 3.2?

I can see that some say installed AKU 3.2 successful, will it be the difference of G3 and G4? Would the people mention what their device is?

I've got the 3.2 version running on my HTC Prophet now (G4) and it works faster than the AKU3.2 16MB PageFile ROM from PDAMobiz. I cannot say that it is just as stable, since I'm running the ROM for a couple of hours now ;)

Hi!
After several hours downloading files to "downgrade" in order to get out of the USB boot screen, I tried with O2 ROM, just to get an error message (unsure about the meaning in german, but probably related to the brand of my S200 Vodafone)
The same happens with Dopod ROM, even if my device is actually frozen at Dopod black splash screen (the versions show OK for 3.2 but frozen)
So I'm on my 3rd try with the "no vendor ID" version.... downloading from a hotel awful wifi connection...
Is anyone out there to comfort my soul before trying?

BTW lvsw wich are the differences betweeen your v3220 and v3221? Just garbage removed?

i think all these programs are also in the Rom edition from lvsw. He just remove the programs, which the pdamobiz people put inside the rom.

To update to the latest radio ROM you need to switch on your phone in bootloader mode (pressing the Comm Manager button for 5 sec while hitting the soft reset) and then run the downloaded executable while connected to USB.

Anyone else noticing the same problem? I am using the 3.2 LVSW update referred to in this post, and it seems somewhat stable on my 2.15.0000: everything charging via USB et al a couple self resets at first but in all stable, however when I connect to my AP and put in the settings of the connection upon reboot they are not 'there'. This is very annoying when you have LEAP and complex passwords to enter in each and every time you would like to connect to your mail!

Anyone have any ideas, maybe it is as simple as a REG key that needs changed... any experts out there with an idea? It would be much appreciated, I don't want to have to revert to the RUU_Prophet_2151327_21513121_021921_DOP_ASIA_WWE_S hip-NoVendorID ROM or at least trying to download (avoiding major lock-ups on the device).

i tried to directly upgrade the pdamobiz 3231

it dit the extrom thing ok

while writing the rom to the device i got the message that som replilog.exe has failed,

the program reported that it was ok, and i had to hard reset,...
device stuck at boot screen
tried bootloader mode, the computer does recognize the device but can't find the driver(PocketPC USB Sync) and the update program's can't find the device!

anything i can do to fix this? i don't hope i bricked my prophet!

Same problem with SPB Pocket Plus using this ROM edition. Multiple soft reboots finally got me past it, but it can happen with any later soft reset. Even after removing SPB Pocket Plus, I still have been noticing strange behavior:

1. Screen sometimes fails to redraw, usually after opening the "Settings" menu.
2. Battery doesn't charge, even though the Power screen says "Charging" and the graphic moves. The giveaway is, no percentage is shown when charging.

This behavior was not present with just the ROM installed - it happened after 3rd party programs were added and the handheld synchronized. Programs installed:

SPB Pocket Plus - Main Memory (MM)
PocketInformant 2007 rev2 (MM)
Calligrapher 8.4 (MM)
Tarascon Pharmacopia - Storage (ST)
Sanford Guide to Antimicrobial Therapy (ST)
Flexwallet 2006 (ST)
Webis Toobox 3 (ST)

I have since downdgraded to the NOVendorID ROM, and tried to reinstall with the New PDAMobiz 3231 version - hangs at splash screen on my G3 Prophet.
Hope someone else is having more luck.

I am new on this forum and probably asking question were already asked.

I have unlocked (from SIM prospective) O2 XDA NEO with IPL 2.15.0001 and SPL 2.15.0001.

I am looking to upgrade ROM since.
1. I want faster ROM (current one is slow)
2. I don't need O2 (actually I purchased phone, but have no relation to O2)
3. I would like to have in addition to English language capability to read (at least - right would be great as well) Hebrew and Russian.

Here is my questions.
1. What is this CID unlock. Do I need it? If yes, what I should do.
2. It looks like Prophet_WM5AKU3.2_v3221_lvsw_edition.exe is the best available ROM.
a. Would it solve issues I mentioned above?
b. Should I do CID unlock before using it? If yes how?
c. Should I just apply Prophet_WM5AKU3.2_v3221_lvsw_edition.exe? or I need to do something before this?

3. Would it keep voice dialing? Radio, everything else?

Any help with detailed explanation will be highly appreciated

However when i try to activesync the contacts will not sync. I can check all other sync options (tasks for example) and they work fine. Even if I empty my computer contacts completely I get the same error:

You cannot switch the language to German because it is an "ENGLISH ROM". If you want a german device you have to install a "GERMAN ROM".

I don't know the different, i think you should download the latest 3221 Ivsw because it contains the bug fix with "clean" rom.

Yes, I think lsvw's ROMs are clean ROMs, including the latest ones: v20061111 & v20061112 at http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...1#post1052012

The 3231 version has not been "hacked", so it is probably not a cleaned ROM, but I'm just curious to know the differences (if any). Whether it is the ROM, or just the ExtROM only....

Hi I followed the procedure and successfully installed the 3.2 rom. Everything seems to work well including wifi and speed is excellent.

However when i try to activesync the contacts will not sync. I can check all other sync options (tasks for example) and they work fine. Even if I empty my computer contacts completely I get the same error:

As far as I know, you do not have to such deep. I always just connect to ActiveSync in normal mode and then start the RadioUpdateExecutable.
Only the RadioPart ist then Updated and everything else remains unchanged.

May I ask what kind of prophet you have, G3 or G4? What ROM was in your prophet before the AKU3.2 upgrade, say DOPOD 2.15 or JAMin 2.13 or else?

I confirm it works fine, USB charging is OK (I was afraid...) and seems quite stable (2 days now without freezing/rebooting).
However some Apps keep useless (to me) from the first version, Opera does not work, and I miss some of the files in lvsw modified ones (WM today the most)
I would like to see a procedure to "COOK" my own Ext ROM out of what is already available.
I don't speak thai, so unless lvsw makes public his work, I will keep happy with what I have.

Batterystatus plugin is installed as part of PDAMobiz 'junkware' (I like the junkware).

fooar I was just thinking overclocking might slow down recharging because USB charging does seem slower (but it works for me).

Although I havent noticed overclocking affecting charging times before. Just some ideas that might help.

I take back flawless though.... POP3 account dissapears after soft reset. The account is displayed on the Today screen, but cant be opened from there, or in Messaging. I tried sleep then wakeup after setting up the account (as was described in another thread) but the problem persists. Any thoughts?

I guess this is a bug of the Wizard's battdrv.dll that doesn't seem to work well with Prophet. There is a trick to activate USB battery charging. Just soft reset your Prophet while it's still connected to your PC. It will charge the battery after reboot. Try this!

Installed PDAMobiz 3.2.3231 version on a Prophet G4 2.3AKU. softreseted before it got to installing PDAM stuff, unlocked ext. rom, and got the most important things. Everything runs smooth and nice, no problems with WM but some problems with USB charging. Works better than v2.3

I installed one after anothe ALL the ROMS mentioned in this thread, yes ALL of them!
My findings: none is "perfect"
Actually I have the PDAMobiz AKU3.2 ver 3231 ROM, (I liked some of the junkware) and since I read about some of the lvsw ROM issues, I gave a try to the pdamobiz.
I followed the FULL procedure as described by lvsw, and Is the most pleasant experience of the last weeks:
- Moderately "fast" (as much as I got from S200 overclocking to 286)
- I gave up with some apps (Opera for instance does not install, although the icon is there, the app files are missing)
- I'm being very carefull with apps, one at a time, checking everything to determine if there is a new issue. (USB charging or whatever)
- Be aware that if you overclock, you will probably have your device overclocked while on the USB cable, plus probably have the default settings for "external power" on the Screen and backlight settings, plus BT surely on and maybe WiFi too, THAT MAKES A LOT OF WATTs! draining the battery, and probably even more than USB can sustain, plus you want your device being recharged..... think about, give a try to the USB port with the device off and compare for yourself. It's a pitty that we lost the battery indication while recharging in these last AKU's.
- TomTom 6 vs BT Active Sync, If you install TT6 before pairing your device with any BT Active Sync PC, the Active Sync option will be gone. PAIR FIRST WITH YOUR LAPTOP FOR BT AS!
- The Memory Pool page seems to be just 8 MB acording to some other info in the forum (Memory goes to 40 Mb) Anyone to confirm?
- I Did not install any Battery display apps, to avoid possible conflicts with battery draining issues. It has been OK so far.(I mean DISPLAY, I use Battery status app for overclocking)

Those having problems may try my way from the botom-up, so we can determine at wich step the problems arise. Looks like most issues come from incompatabilities among different programs.....

So it might be just that, those "unoficial" ROMs are not very stable, down to the point of behaving differently from one machine to another.
I feel some issues are just erratic behaviour, some times they are there (USB charging) sometimes not.... hard to tell for sure.
This is the toll to pay for being "early adopters". Can you imagine the cost for operators to deal with the kinds of problems people report in this thread?

However for those of us with "non WWE original machines", there is no way back to turn to our operator/device tech service... I mean 2.15 ESP for my S200 Vodafone is currently not available anywhere :-(( so it is important to consider that you may be denied Warranty services.

I, who had exactly the same problem, went back to lsvl2.3edition (that with the two steps, partly swedish).
The problem really was a lack of memory, because formerly I always executed the two steps (downgrade and upgrade) completely, i.e. I did not stop the downgrade by a softreset, before the extrom process started.
With this latest rom (and the right update process) I do not have any problems so far (one day running).

I updated the ROM on 2 different Dopod 818 Pro and both of them has a problem charging from time to time, the device needs to be reset in order to charge the phone again.

This happened more than 5 times already, you charge the phone and the next day your battery is dead... very annoying.

the problem in setting the resolution is only for cool camera (an external application)....the internal software for the camera works normally....

I noticed the Active Sync profile was "missing" after installing TOMTOM.
I suggest you to Hard Reset and check FIRST TO NOTHING ELSE, that the Active Sync Profile is there while pairing with your laptop. So you can confirm that the profile is there, and see when it's "deleted".
In my case it's replaced with "serial port", that WM5 Active Sync does not see even if configured to this port.
It's annoying, but this already happened with my factory new Vodafone S200 (G4, 2.15.0001 SPL/IPL)

Hope it helps, please confirm if you get BT AS back.

Afeter that I've install Prophet_WM5AKU3.2_v3221_lvsw_edition and for the end I've upgrade the Radio to HTCblackSplash_RadioRom_02.30.21(2).exe

But since this upgrade, i had an error message : "The file 'CapNotify' connat be opened. Either it is not signed with trusted crtificate, or one of its components cannot be found. You might need to reinstall or restore this file."

So I've tryed to find an upgrade to kick CID and I've used this one : downgrade_and_unlockcid_v01

After the presentations, my problem : since the downgrade to unlockcid, my Qtek freeze on the boot screen ! Impossible to boot it. I've tryed to launch it a second time with the canary mode but always the same : would you like to try copying again ? And it never works :(

Go to bootloader (canary I suposse ;-) mode and reflash again with an executable rom (NO VENDOR ID)
Then you should be ready to upgrade again via "Active Sync" ad the "Stop on Align screen" procedure.

And for your original "Cap Notify" error message, I did not found a solution other than repeating the whole procedure,... and I was lucky the third time :-(

OK, did hard reset, let the extrom pdamobiz stuff run (AKU 3.2 rom),
enabled bluetooth and made it discoverable and scanned from laptop.
result is no AS profile, only serial port :(

Seems to me that this should be something easy to fix for someone who knows how this is configured. Is this a registry thing ? anyone with a clue, i really need AS sync ?

update: after my previous message, i did a scan for my laptop from the prophet, and it did find an activesync profile !
tested this and it works now, although it did not before the hard reset.
have to go do some meetings now, i'll reinstall everything and let you know what deletes the profile, if anything.

for those of you using pocket plus i also had the problem where the jamin crashes on rebootand found a fix.
You need to deactivate the Safe Mode from pocket plus for it to work fine after reboot

i had already downgraded the ROM to AKU 2.o as said at the first step. but the files exctract from the Prophet_WM5AKU3.2_v3221_lvsw_edition.exe are not similar as the standard RUU file, so i have no idea of how to intall.

P.S. i double click the UPGRADE_ROM.bat file to try the installation process with the connection to PC via the USB, but the DOS box says " cannot excute SLEEP4.EXE" . any one know why?

You are in the Prophet forum, Isn't ... so there is a remote posibility that those ROMs are for the Prophet...? Ummm (AKA S200, JAMin, etc)

It's always up to you to upgrade your device with other people's ROM or not. If you feel it's full of junks, then just don't upgrade your device or just do it yourself.

I am agree with him.He working hard for build this rom for free and at the same time He had alot of work to do.

Anyone have same problem and know the solution for that. Should I upgrade Prophet_WM5AKU3.2_v3221_lvsw_edition ?

Hey Everyone.

I tried using the Prophet_WM5AKU3.2_v3221_lvsw_edition.exe, with the RUU_Prophet_2151327_21513121_021921_DOP_ASIA_WWE_S hip.exe. like the instructions above.

It loaded and installed but their were a few errors, wasn't sure if the AKU3.2 was a stable version or is it still being debugged???

I got the same error as some of the people above with CapNotify.exe and Contact sync issues.

The AKU3.2 bootup is much faster (Great work LvsW on cleaning it thx) and the overall softwares are great and thats why i wanted to keep using the 3.2. So if anyone knows is this the final version or is someone still working on it, let me know

There is not an official AKU 3.2 version for Prophet, and probably never will..... so you either get happy with what you have installed (lvsw, pdamobiz, etc) or stay with the current stable "official" 2.20 ROMs.... as most people has, myself included after lots of testing.
By no means do I dislike the job of jesterz, ,lvsw, pdamobiz, and the rest, but at a certain point, I expended more time fixing and checking than doing any productive use of my device.... so I finally "quit" and reversed to the latest official (Qtek 2.20 ESP in my case).
That said, I just sold my S200 and get a TyTn, maybe escaping ahead..... till the next wall.

Re the USB the %charge does not show in the battery monitor whilst it is charging .. however it does charge .. the bar is animated whilst charging ...

as for the Pocket Plus issue, it seems to be related to something on the today screen and redrawing .. If I don't put in my SIM PIN then I can get to programs but the settings window causes a lockup.

Had the same problem with AKU3.2. The device indicated that it was indeed charging, but it was defenitley not! Only way to resolve this was to change the registry every time. That's why I turned to the AKU2.3 Stable&Fast ROM.
No problems so far ;)

Each version has it's own problems, so you either consider the many opinions and decide, or try each one at your own risk.
I did myself, and decided to stay with the "latest" official ones, whatever the language you choose. Tweaking is fine, a lot of tweaking becomes a burden and annoying.

Plus there are no really big improuvements overall from AKU 2.3 to AKU 3.x.....

I am confused in this thread, what is the latest one in this thread? I am actually using AKU3.3 clean rom. but it is not the latest one as now suddenly announced to have AKU3.2 and then say it is the latest one. AKU3.2 and then in what build version? This was my question.

3.3 is newer AKU than both but think about it. Someone could relase a cool lite version of windows 98se with extra's and/or stuff taken out today. It wouldn't make it newer than XP or even windows 2k just a fresh release of something older.

I would think twice at this moment.... take two out of the three listed above. You don't have the three right now, and probably never will....

Test for yourself, if uncertain, you would be better off with the OFFICIAL releases. (NO AKU 3.x at the moment AFAIK)

I think you don't like the answers nor read the forum. (No pun intended) ;-)
PDAMOBIZ is a web site, were VERY CLEVER guys have posted some modified ROM's, cooked from versions extracted from other devices, it's: UNOFFICIAL ones, no matter how "high" is the version number.

They are pretty, polished, fully loaded of apps, etc, but they tend to be UNSTABLE, BUGGY and UNRELIABLE on some devices.
Some users find his perfect match with one of those ROMs, but to others -like me- they are too buggy to worth living with.
Official ones (THE ONES YOU RUN THE EXE INSTALL -Qtek, i-mate, Dopod- FILE AND YOU'RE DONE) are supported by the manufacturer. As they take the "safe way" you are at the minimun risk.

My advise: take the 2.3 version and stick with it for a while.

And for the list of bugs, too many to resume, many of them are in my posts. Unaware of this 3.3 version you mention.....
