View Full Version : 8GB SDHC Cards Work w/Jam?

I've read that the new 8GB SD cards use a specification called "SDHC" (a.k.a. SD 2.0) and are not compatible with mere SD slots. And I'm pretty sure the I-mate Jam's slot is merely SD. But never convinced 'til someone actually tries it...I'd love to know if anyone has actually *tried* an 8GB card (e.g., Pretec's) in a Jam?

(The 4GB Transcend SD card worked flawlessly in my Jam form the git-go , although I've seen plenty of posts and specs on the Web that said it wouldn't....)

Unfortunately, no.
As you can see below a standard SD device cannot read an SDHC card.

I tried an 8GB SDHC card with my magician with no success :( . The magician doesn't even recognise that there's a card in the slot.

The hardware is capable of SDHC, there just doesn't exist any SDHC drivers for WM2003se on PXA272.

I got an 8 GB SDHC, but I don't have a Jam :(

Maybe I'll get one..

But I just would buy one if the 8gb SDHCs get recognized :D So I don't really want to own an Jam before someone tried it with success :)

1. Can't the picture in your post
2. If you didn't knew already, i have the same microsdhc card and 7588mb is normal.
3- @everyone thinking that sdhc cards don't work with sd slots:
the only difference between sdhc and sd is their filesystem:
sd has fat16, sdhc has fat32

Wheter a card is going to be dtected or not depends on the Softwware - for anyone who doesn't get it to work and has a wm6(.x) Rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344338&page=10

^^Cotulla's roms (later ones) support SDHC cards, so it should work fine.
