HI,
I recently opened my XDA mini and replaced the case, to my horror i broke my lcd to mainboard cable, causing lines that dont look pleasant on my screen.
Looking at the xda-dev wikki, i see 2 screens, one manufactured by topply and one by samsung.
Its on this page: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=MagicianHardwareOverview
I live in Aus and probally the cheapest i can get a LCD plus touch screen will be 110 AUD, but the lcd i have is the samsung lcd, and the ones on ebay (mostly) are toppoly screens.
It strictly says on the wikki that you cant use a toppoly screen on a magician that used a samsung screen.
So yea, anybody tried this switch?...
the seller's claim it works on the XDA mini and S100's but the wikki doesent agree.

thats the only thing i dont like about these phones, you have to protect that screen with your life.
hey try emailing telstra you never know they might have somewhere they can send you to get a new one.
either that or you might get lucky and pick up a broken phone cheaper that still has a decent display on it.

Hay Ghostrider,
I dont quite get what your saying.
Do you mean straighten the cable and make it flat? then reinsert it into the magician's mainboard?
Ill try it anyways, thanks for the help.

What he means is that most probably you plugged-in the cable the wrong way round. Make sure that the contacts of the cable face the contacts of the connectors.

Sorry for my bad English,
I mean put the cabel the wrong way in the holder and close it.
open the holder and put it the right way and close the holder.

i think for us aussies the cost of replacing a lcd screen is too expensive. we might as well throw out the old unit and replace it with a new one.
magicians are selling pretty cheap now :)

The price is too high, just because you didn't come to the right one, i mean the seller. Magician's LCD should not that high, which amount to 110 Australia Dollar, both the Topply LCD and Samsung LCD. Any way samsung LCD's price is twice as Topply.

i've got a spare toppoly screen( black ribbon) if anyone wants one.
40 aud and its yours.
But hay, i see XDA IIs and XDA IIi which is more PDA then the magician go for aroun $150 aud. definately worth the dollars if you can get one.
Only problem is no 3G support, i must have broadband speeds when im in the middle of the city!!
