I have Treo 650 that running Palm OS now. I would like to upgrade it to Windows Mobile OS. Does any1 know where can I get the ROM for it? How to flash ROM and upgrade it?Let me know. Thank you! Have a great day.
Just a thought:
Can I use the Treo 700w ROM or any Treo that running Windows Mobile ROM...then flash ROM for my Treo 650. Do you think it will work? If so, can any1 upload your Treo 700W ROM for me, please? Or tell me where can I that ROM? Thankssss! Have a great day.

I don't think that is possible, the screen is a 320x320 resolution and WM5 only supports 240x240 or 640x640.

Can you elaborate. I see where the screen resolution could be a major issue. Is that it or are there other issues?

Yeah I knew that. I sort of screwed up my post and ment to say that WM supported 240x240 and 480x480 for square screens. :) Thanks for the correction.

Guys, you should realize that Windows CE should work on any resolution you throw at it provided it has drivers for the hardware. The OS really could care less what MS "supports". ;) Just because MS says that the Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC platform doesn't "support" 320x320 means nothing. I think MS means "support" mainly from a marketing perspective. They feel that 320x320 would be too hard to see on such a small screen for the average user and thus do not "support" it for OEMs that use their standard platforms like Windows Mobile for Pocket PC. (Or more accurately, certify devices that would use such resolutions as designed for Windows Mobile or even allow an OEM to sell it with the platform.) How much do you want to bet some devs at HTC have a WinCE OS on the 320x320 models internally? ;) I'd guess the chances are pretty high.
The truth is that the Pocket PC platform (or any other Windows CE OS/Platform) will work just fine on 320x320 or even 1024x1280. The limitations you guys speak of are purely marketing derived and the OS really will not care. Just see for yourself by running the newer ARM Windows CE device emulator from MS that ships with VS2005, etc. It will certainly let you boot the Pocket PC OS at 320x320 and it looks just fine. There is also, of course, NYDITOT Virtual Display which will also give you an idea of how the OS will look on various resolutions. ( http://www.nyditot.com )
Is the hardware between the PalmOS and Windows CE models even all that different? (700p vs 700w) Provided the only REAL hardware difference is the size of the LCD panel/touchscreen I really CAN see this possibly working if we can somehow reflash the device with a WinCE version of the ROM. It may not even NEED new drivers if the LCD controler is the same and the driver has some way of detecting the resolution of the LCD panel attached. Is the bootloader any different? Has anyone ever tried this before? I think this would be very interesting and a Windows CE OS on the Palm OS hardware would be far nicer than that icky Palm OS in my opinion. You can just run the Styletap Palm OS simulator if you love the crappy Palm OS so much. ;)
I'm awaiting your thoughts on this. Please die Palm OS. Windows CE pwnz j00!

Nope, it won't ever happen.

Nope. How do you expect the driver to fully re-write a ROM to show different colors on each pixel? Please remember, to a ROM, a display is not much more than a collection of colors in the right positions. It'll have to recalculate the colors for each pixel.
