Brand New Dopod838Pro (Old Thread)

Guys, just for some info, just got a brand new unlocked Dopod 838Pro in aust and the ROM vers is 1.30.707.4 08/22/06 Radio 1.20.31.10.

where did you get your dopod 838pro from?

3 are out of stock and the place I got mine was from press digital.

they seem to have grey imported it from singapore and its got a v1.23 ROM with a 1.06 radio.

i got mine from www.expansys.com.au they had really good service... but im having trouble registering the Dopod on the website...

I had the same issue and thats how I found out it was a grey import (as well as the singapore warranty card).

The serial number would not register with the aus dopod site but did with the singapore site.

the serial numbers are common to specific countries. see where the handset came from and you should be able to register with that specific country.

well thats weird as the Warranty sticker says Dopod 838 Pro (Australia).

tried Singapore and still didnt work and cannot contact anyone as there is no AUS call center!!!!

send them an email and they will give you a call. Theyre based in north sydney. thats what happened with me.

dopod did advise that theres a new rom out which isnt availiable on the website yet so it must be your version. they wouldnt give it to me as ive got a singapore version.

Wonder what P_wifi_fix does...

I installed the the entire external ROM over my original DopodAsia extROM and ran into zero problems.
The smartphone client isn't useful to me so I removed it.
With WiFi on, I have no problems using AS over bluetooth. It does nothing to fix the A2DP problem with WiFi on. Must wait for AKU3... :-(

Aparently, this unit has been tested and works with Optus, reason Australian units were on hold until just recently.

OS Version is: 5.1.195 (Build 14955.2.3.0)

Processor: SC32442-400MHz

I have a JASJAM (bought outright from Computer Cworld) and I would like to use it with 3 Australia. Funny this was, that the ROM had Telstra branding, so I flashed it with the generic WWE JasJam Rom.

Now, its been a pain to get the 3 services working such as 3MMS and 3netaccess etc and so on. 3 australia are no use to help me set it up.

Is there a cab file(s) in your extended rom that has three or 3 in its name. I am hoping that there is a cab that can set up my JASJAM with all the 3 settings.

I checked my Extended ROM again, after sending you the personal message, and I found one file with the number "3" in it.

I have no idea what this is, but I will upload it anyway for you to have a go with. (crosses fingers)

ill give the file a try,
do you mind uploading the entire contents of your extended rom as a zip/rar file. I would like to analyse the entire extended rom just incase the file you mentioned is not the one.
