New 9100 owner IPL, SPL, AKU questions

Hey, I am the new owner of a Qtek 9100 purchased from ebay. This is an actual Qtek device, not a branded T-mobile, or Cingular version. This 9100 should be completely unlocked correct? It was advertised as such on ebay. Is there any way to verify its lock/unlock status?

I have been reading about firmware upgrading and beleve my 9100 is a G4 device. My version info at bootup is as follows

IPL: 2.17.0001
SPL: 2.17.0001
GSM: 02.02.10
OS: 2.17.7.2

I know the IPL/SPL are bootloaders. Since this should be an unlocked device do i still have the same G4 IPL/SPL concerns with flashing the firmware that i have been reading about in various threads. Can you point me to some threads with more info about the IPL/SPL? When i do a search for these terms, nothing comes up.

From what i gather the AKU has something to do with the version of the OS. What diffrent AKU versions are available, is there a table or list somewhere with the differences betwen versions? As with trying to search for IPL SPL info, searching for AKU turns up nothing.

Doug - I did and have exactly the same as you..... Bought a QTEK 9100 on eBay. Mine arrived with 1.x IPL/SPL/ROM (I can't remember specifically which version it was). I quickly updated this using the official update that is linked via the expansys.co.uk website to the same version you are running (2.17 WWE).

After a day or so I found the xda-developers forum and downloaded some of the 'cooked' ROMs that take it to the current 2.26 version. I however had a problem installing the RISidoro ROM and I assumed my QTEK 9100 was completely unlocked - it wasn't. It was Network Unlocked but not CID unlocked; I couldn't install the RISidoro ROM until I CID unlocked it using the Lokiwiz tool. I could install the MRClean 2.24 ROM but not RISidoro's 2.26.

Have a read through the RISodoro ROM thread for info on how to CID unlock you 9100 - it seems G3 versions are easy to CID unlock but not G4 versions, I was lucky enough to have a G3.

I am still trying to understand the AKU 2.3 & 3.2 thing but I think this is a Windows Mobile version thing. Hopefully someone will post specific details of what the AKU is......

OK, I read through that thread, and didn't really give a good answer to CID unlocking a G4. I keep seeing people talking about unlocking the G4. I saw a few posts with people confirming the steps to unlock a G4 but they never got any kind of response if they were right. That thread almost seems like a mess of suggestions for both G3 and G4 and you can easilly get lost not knowing if someone is talking about a G3 or G4 in their response.

Is there any kind of utility that can be run on the PC with the 9100 connected to verify the CID lock status, or a utility to run on the 9100 itself?

If i am CID locked. Are there any EXACT step by step directions for unlocking the G4. I dont want to brick it.
