Surprising, because it is a known fact that it is impossible to upgrade the Hurricane to WM2005. I would not suggest go for that unless you know exactly what you're doing.

It gets to 72% and then it comes up with a memory adress exception and fails.

I've managed to resurrect my device tho as the bootloader wasn't corrupt and I was able to flash the Qtek 8200 ROM

Well, the site is in chinese, and the ROM appears to be in chinese as well. If you understand chinese, can you see if there is one ROM in English?

I can CONFIRM that the rom on that website IS WM5 for the HTC HURRICANE! All you need to do is flash the SPL nbf posted on the website (will upload to rapidshare later together with instructions) and then flash the .BIN file in the same way as the WM5 for typhoon :)

Its obviously been ripped from a leaked WM5 typhoon rom, all the graphics/icons/bars etc are scaled for 176x220 pixels not QVGA.

i wonder if a dumped OS section of an imate SPL rom would work, if anybody has an SPL rom then please share! :P

I tested this WM5 rom.
My experience:
-yes, not support qvga
-joy don't work (instead the 4 function button; Calender etc. but not OK!)
-this SPL (spl566forwm5_zymlk_2007.1.30.nb) work with wm2003se!

My instructions:
-First i converted the spl566forwm5_zymlk_2007.1.30.nb to spl566forwm5_zymlk_2007.1.30.nbf (you must install ActivePerl)
Command:
typhoonnbfdecode.pl -r spl=spl566forwm5_zymlk_2007.1.30.nb -c nk.nbf
then i flashed this nk.nbf with Patched_RUU.exe.
-Bootloader mode Camera button, then Power button.
-mtty.exe, Cmd>l c:\wm5for566test_zymlk_2007.1.30.bin

NEWS:
- I managed to swich form CN to english (its nice :))
- device can be controlled by those round function buttons and left edge function button (internet explorer button on SDA II) instead of joystick
- camera and audio recording doesnt work
- calls,sms,gprs,activesync... work
- wmplayer is not fullscreen but only shows a little image in the edge

I only wanted to ask somebody to provide me spl image from GSM module firmware because mine is not working properly thx

IT has been more than 2 years since this phone has been discontinued. If you want WM2005, I'd recommend you go for a HTC Oxygen. It is very cheap nowadays.

maybe I'm getting it all wrong, but according to this (http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_pocketpc_smartphone.php3) Site the Hurricane is identical to the O2 XDA Phone which is a WM5 device.

There is a WM5 ROM available at the o2 Germany Homepage (http://o2online.de/nw/support/downloads/software/xda/xdaphone/index.html) shouldn't ist be possible to flash it on super-cid devices?

Sorry if I'm talking nonsense, my only experience is with the htc hermes, I'm just getting to know the Hurricane....

its isnt hurricane device, the looks the same but it different machine.
the closest machine to hurricane device is Lobster 700, they looks different but bouth have the same CPU and some else elements.

yes, it is possible :) i used wm6 rom about 1 month. it is nice but,... at this moment rom is unstable. very often i see white screen, then i must remove battery and put them again. second problem is with writting letters, you must install some t9 dictionary, then it will work. still is a problem with charging battery (hone must be turn off to propertly charging), and some else errors, but it look nice :)
