Hello,

I just recently picked myself up a T-Mobile MDA and am now feeling comfortable enough to flash my first ROM. I have read, searched, and printed may of topics on this site and a few others but I have a few questions I was hoping you guys could help me with.

First, What makes a AKU2 ROM different from a non-AKU2 ROM? And for that matter what makes the AKU3.2 ROM different?

Also, When it is said "this ROM is for SPL/IPL 2.xx G3 phones only" does this mean that it is for any SPL/IPL that does not have the trailing .0001 (thus making it a G4 phone) and it would work with a 1.xx G3 phone? Is there a change log somewhere?

Finally, once a phone is CID unlocked I gather that it is for the most part permanent? In other words if I were to upgrade to say a newer AKU2 ROM would that then forbid me from downgrading back to my original 1.8.10.2 WWE ROM? I have read that posts indicating that you would be able to downgrade to 1.03 and then upgrade, I just want to confirm that I am understanding this correctly.

I currently have some pretty old ROMs on this stock MDA:

IPL: 1.08
SPL: 1.08
RADIO: 01.09.10
ROM: 1.8.10.2 WWE

I am really excited to upgrade the ROM on this thing if for no other reason than to upgrade the Radio ROM! ROM 2.47 not withstanding, Radio ROM 2.25/6 included in most of the custom ROMs must be a huge improvement over 1.9.10.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Tom

First, What makes a AKU2 ROM different from a non-AKU2 ROM? And for that matter what makes the AKU3.2 ROM different? AKU2 roms are push email enabled they also have stereo bluetooth support, now AKU3.2 roms have improved bluetooth drivers and lots of "other" improvements

Yes that is correct

Finally, once a phone is CID unlocked I gather that it is for the most part permanent? In other words if I were to upgrade to say a newer AKU2 ROM would that then forbid me from downgrading back to my original 1.8.10.2 WWE ROM? Once again correct, its a "once in its lifetime" event

I have AKU2.6 and have push email but no bluetooth stereo.
Started a thread in Hacking and Development asking for help/why. No luck yet. I've tried every hack I could find.
So from what you are saying the support is in the AKU 2.6 ROM ,
but Samsung, Sprint or some other "confounded wingnut" decided not to take advantage of or /implement it !?!
BOY, DO I HOPE THEY RELEASE AN UPDATE!

Ratcom,

Thanks for the quick reply bro! Very helpful stuff.

A though of another question if you don't mind....

What the does SPL/IPL stand for and what do they each do? I know that they are bootloaders but why the need for two? Is one for the PDA ROM and one for the radio ROM? Kinda meaningless question but I was just curious. Thanks again.
