Who here reckons HTC will be generous enough to upgrade the Trinity's OS to the upcoming Crossbow at some point via ROM update?

Think their marketing dept will advise to introduce Crossbow with a new device...

I think just to be on the safe side we should all pester HTC just to remind them there's demand for Crossbow.

We are talking about an OS that will shipped to OEMs 9 months from now and then must be tested against the hardware. Considering that a year from now HTC will have announced 5 to 10 new devices, I would say that Crossbow will never run on devices you buy today. It just doesn't make any sense commercially.

Crossbow is already shipped out to OEM, and will be released to end-users Q1/2 2007. <- *edit: just to be on the safe side: Crossbow should be shipped out to OEMs Q4 2006, so we still got a month to go :)

I think you are talking about Photon(or something like that), which will be sent out to OEMs next year...

Yeah, I think anonimo is talking about Photon not Crossbow.

Anyway, I just hope we get our upgrade to Crossbow by the end of the year, that would be great.

Also, I wish they'd release their ActiveSync replacement in time for Vista launch.

I would think that they would be release it in conjunction with Vista and I think HTC may release the update but they may charge a fee ($29.99 - $99.99) as HP released a update for some of their devices and the fee was $29.99. I would be happy to pay between $29.99 - $99.99 for the update.

Has HTC (via brands Qtek, Imate, Dopod) ever offered an OS upgrade in the past?

As far as I can see and this is why I have not purchased an HTC branded device yet , they do not even supply updated downloadable ROMs for the devices they sell unlike Imate branded HTC devices. I can't see the section on their site and have only heard that the ROM updates will be sent to your suppliers . I can't see expansys doing that .

I would guess that if they cannot do that then they will not offer Vista Upgrades either.

If anyone can point me to the ROM upgrade section on the European or any other site of HTC's then that would sway me in to buying one their own branded products.
