I flashed the 1.35 rom and now I'm having problems with the phone, in that it won't send tones. So when I call answer phone and press option 1 to hear my messages and it does not send the 1 tone out (although I can hear it).

Has anyone come across this and can suggest a fix?
If not should I go back to my original t-mobile uk rom?

Thanks guys

Please confirm me two things to do the upgrade,
1º I must be in bootloader mode???
2º The SIM card can or can't be in HERMES ???

Thanks in advanced, i read the wiki and some post, but é can't find that answer!

Is anyone experiencing Bluetooth problems with this ROM?

As far as I can tell, the phone turns the Bluetooth off at will. I haven't been able to pinpoint what makes the Bluetooth turn off yet. This is happening on two Hermes phones that I own, so it's not hardware related.

Any ideas?

Actually with this update, the bt has been workin a lot better than with the original ROM.

Using the bluetooth handsfree to make calls with voice commands has worked without a glitch unlike with the original ROM. When the mic on the hf was active only for 2 secs and then the mic 'connection' was lost.

One other remarkable difference that I have noticed is with the USB transfers. With original rom, it took forever to transfer even a small file but with this one, no worries copying about 100 files total 5MB.

Hy there.

Thanks to all. My TyTn has with 1.18 (portuguese rom), with all the post i can manage to upgrade to this ROM, then bootloader 1.04. And at least 1.20 radio.

(With all i can get off TMN logo :D )

I only have two issues:

1º I run the unlockAllextendedROM, I can see the extended rom, i have the option to install applications to their, but i can't write in their. I confirm with the registry and the foreground and background values are correct to the unlock hide. Any sugggestion???

2º I try all the hacks that i found in the wiki to put anything i can in portuguese, keyboard layout, t9 etc etc, but no off the hacks result to my. I tried to install the MT_PC_Hermes_Qtek_PTG_060621.CAB from hereLOCK:Enabled
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PP_ExtVersion.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\MT_Shortcut-MMS-Hermes.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\P_Generic_UI.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PP_3-AP-Patch.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\VT_Engine_23818_ext.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PP_ace-certs.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\MT_PC_Hermes_Qtek_PTG_060621.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\MP_mHub_060630.CAB
LOCK:Disabled
RST: Reset

But without sucess. Where i can see how to apply a new cooked extededROM, i only find how to cook them.

PS: To apply i only need copy my files to their, but the hack to unlock don't work to me, no with this rom. With the old one worked..

Thanks

Wrong.

Why with me ?? You can proceeed as long as you know what you're doing.... so read everything first :)

At the moment there are no cooked roms for Hermes devices, we need to break signature checking in bootloader first, otherwise only shipped updates can be flashed.

sorry to bother you. i was real glad to spot your nick as being from south africa. i'm from sa aswell. i have a problem which i hope you can assist me with. i bought a second hand o2 xda ii pda. origanilly it had wm2003 which i upgraded to wm2005 no problem. but even with wm2003 from the start i cannot seem to get my mms's to work. ive setup the rest no problem but for some reason the mms dont work. i'm connected to vodacom but not even their tech guys can help me. i gotten setups and what not form here to sunday but no mms's i receive an mes saying mms received and then a notification that its busy downloading it soon after a mes saying mms cannot be downloaded and it stops then it carries on repeating this cycle until i delete the incoming mess. any help will do.

Wrong.

Well if you say... you are tha man. I think i'm super CID because i'm able to upgrade to rom 1.35, than can back to bootloader 1.04 and after can upgrade radio to 1.20.

Anyway tonight i will run your unlock on my TyTN. Thanks

PS: One thing that i find... with this rom e can't find PhonePad in Start > Settings > |Personal| > Input like is described where.
This one is quite easy - go to: Start > Settings > |Personal| > Input
Now select "PhonePad" in the "Input method:" drop-down
Click the "Options..." button
Go to the "Languages" tab
Set the "Database:" drop-down to whatever language you want the T9 method to base its predictions on.
Click "OK"
All done!

However, if you're having trouble switching languages for whatever reason, it can be modified through the registry as well:

HKLM\Software\HTC\Intellipad\Languages = N (DWORD decimal)
Where N is:

0 = English
1 = German
2 = French
3 = Italian
4 = Spanish
5 = Portuguese
6 = Czech
8 = Dutch

from: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Changing_Device_Language

My options are: Block Recognizer - Keyboard - Letter Recognizer - Symbol Pad - Transcriber

Is this the same to all of you?

Because your device is not SuperCID, and you ran HERM_Unlock_v2a.exe on it when it was NOT running the 1.16 patched radio. You MUST be running the 1.16 patched radio on your device for it to work (even if it says success, don't believe it: it always says "success").

So right ;) sorry. But i don't think that way ... heheh rom patch again ;)

One more things :D

Sometimes call to *#100# works sometimes don't... any info about why?

So here are my stats:

I just purchased a Cingular 8525
Came with:
BL 1.06
ROM 1.34.502.1

I flashed my device with an older shipped ROM:

Cingular English CWS__001 1.30.502.1 08/21/06 ?? 1.11.00.00 32.47.7018.00H 14955.2.3.0 2.3 1.04

Then did the CID Unlock:

task 32 shows a value of 0 so I see it worked.

I've heard of the improvement in this 1.35.xxx.x ROM and the improved radio and 3G connectivity with the 1.20.31.10.

So if I run the radio first and upgrade it then upgrade to the 1.35 South Africa rom, I should'nt run into any trouble right?

As it sits now I am still at 1.30.502.1/1.11/1.04

Edit:
Also wanted to add that I ran HERM_Unlock_v2a.exe on it when it was running the 1.16 patched radio and verified the mtty.exe task32

Sooo I got it all working
Couple things tho:

I don't know the keyboard layout code for the registry for my Cingular 8525...

The video button is showing for the calls even tho I don't have the video conferencing cam on the front.

The camera in the back doesn't seem to be working. Totally black and when you take a photo it hangs the program on the shot.

Any ideas guys?

EDIT: Actually scratch the camera issue. I guess it was just once. Works fine now.

wait a few minutes before soft resetting... there is a delay write to the registry.. should only be 1-2 minutes.. but if you wanted to be safe just it to sleep for 5, then soft reset

Do you have a Protuguese keyboard on your Hermes? If so, did you change all these three values? If not, give it a try. I believe Portuguese_Brazilian is 0416 in hexadecimal or 1046 in decimal.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty]
"Layout"="20416" -> this is in hex
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload]
"Default"="e0010416"

ok... so you want the Portuguese_Standard. then try this...

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload]

"Default"="00000816"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload]"Default" and [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload\1]"Default" are not in hex values and they use Valid Locale ID. the Valid Locale ID for the Portuguese_Standard is 00000816 and is not e0010816. i haven't tried Portuguese_Standard myself but this could work. give it a try and let me know if it works.

Hi

Upgraded to this ROM from the iMate 1.31 that shipped with the JasJam Telstra phone. I then installed the Radio Version 1.20 from the iMate device found on the xda ftp site.

So now I have:
ROM version: 1.35.255.2
Radio version: 1.20.31.10
Problem: I am missing most of the GSM/UMTS band ; the only options I have are:
GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(2100)
GSM(1900+850)+UMTS(1900+850)
UMTS(2100+800)

The GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(850) are gone which is what Telstra Next G is using.

I've tried installing manually all the .cab that came with the iMate 1.31 ROM, but it didn't make any difference.

Any ideas what I'm missing?
Thanks

JY,
Apart from the battery going down quicker, can you still get full service by picking the option that contains UMTS850? AFAIK there are few places in Aus that don't have UMTS850 but do have anything else..

I read this thread and took the plunge to upgrade to this ROM. It's by far the most stable and wish I done it earlier. Thank you all for the posting.

One small problem: the CHT9000 keyboard layout now doesn't match this new ROM. Hitting ":" now display "_", hitting "?" now shows "-". I tried editing the registry few posting back to reflect US English but it doesn't work.

Hey, even if the layout is a little off, I am happy with this ROM... for now. If anything change, I'll be sure to post.

Any suggestion?

Never mind, I answered my own question.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty]=20404

changed the layout to Taiwan Traditional Chinese which is what CHT9000 is.

What was I thinking earlier?

I updated to this 1.35 ROM, but now the phone application behaves differently than my earlier version.

Up/Down arrow would go normally straight to call history, and Left/Right would go to the Speed Dial.

Also, you could type the name directly in the dialer and it would match with the address book.

All those features are gone, and it's now a plain , very simple dialer.

Where could I find a better one, similar to the one I had in the iMate JasJam ?

Thanks

I updated to the same ROM and it's working fine for me. Up/Left gives me the Call Log and Down/Right gives me the Speed Dials. In addition, using either the slide out keyboard or the phone keypad ("ABC", "DEF", etc) works fine for contact lookups within the dialer. Maybe it is because I am using the default US English keyboard layout and you might be using a different one???

Hi All,

I have a Telstra Australia JASJAM Hermes (HERM100).

I have downgraded the firmware, unlocked the CID and put back the original firmware.

I would now like to put on this new firmware, however I would also like the newer radio code that is in the Telstra firmware (1.20.31.10) as the SA firmware is 1.18.00.10

Is there any way I can get the radio code into the newer ROM?

Thanks.

PS jyavenard: You say you changed some registry settings, can you please detail those in the forum for others that are looking.

Thanks again!

jyavenard
17th January 2007, 01:49 AM
when you flashed the original iMate firmware you also upgraded your bootloader to 1.06, and then to 1.09 when you put the SA TyTN 1.35 firmware

To flash the radio part, you must have a 1.04. So follow the same procedure you did to originally get your 1.04 firmware (http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?p=8512704#post8512704)

Then flash the radio 1.20 that you can find on the FTP site.

To use with Telstra NextG, you need the following registry patch:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting\BandT ype]
"ItemCount"=dword:00000006
"ItemName1"="Auto"
"ItemName2"="GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(2100)"
"ItemName3"="GSM(1900+850)+UMTS(1900+850)"
"ItemName4"="UMTS(2100+800)"
"ItemName5"="GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(2100+850)"
"ItemName6"="GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(850)"
"ItemValue1"=dword:00000000
"ItemValue2"=dword:00000001
"ItemValue3"=dword:00000002
"ItemValue4"=dword:00000003
"ItemValue5"=dword:00000004
"ItemValue6"=dword:00000005

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\UMTS\BandSelection]
"Band"=dword:00000005

After that reboot.

Now, if you don't like the ugly green theme of the HTC TyTN (who would come up with that kind of colour!???)
Here is what I did so it looks exactly like my Telstra JasJam.

Using your favourite hermes tweaker (I use fit4cat) activate the EXTENDED_ROM and edit the file "Config.txt"
remove the line

CAB: \Extended_ROM\MT_PC_Hermes_HTC_REG_060918.CAB

As this install the green dialer and green comm manager (which AFAIK you can't change).
For this to work you must do a hard reset (and apply the registry change above after)

Now, from the Telstra JasJam extended ROM (also available on the xda ftp)
run the following package:
Telstra.cab

I preferred the phone dialer found in the iMate JasJam, the file you need to install from the JasJam extended ROM is
Default_MT_PC_Hermes_Generic_REG_060609.CAB

Sometimes, I found that the green theme is installed, so find a standard bluetheme (which you can also find on the xda ftp).

Once done, the JasJam will look exactly like the original, except it's much faster and far more reliable.
I've had it running with the 1.35 ROM for nearly 2 days: not a crash yet! which is a world first for my JasJam !!!

Hope that helps

Thanks for the detailed reply!

What I am not understanding here, is how I keep the radio firmware when I install this South African ROM image - would it not replace the radio firmware currently in the phone with the firmware that is bundled in with the ROM upgrade?

Hope that makes sense!

Thanks

jyavenard
17th January 2007, 10:13 AM
It will change your radio version with the one included in the SA HTC ROM (version 1.18, which is a step backward from the JasJam one), you can not keep the original radio firmware, you need to re-install it.
To re-install 1.20, you need to follow the procedures for:
1-downgrade the bootloader to 1.04
2-flash the radio code.

In my defence, I started at the WIKI, and was referred to a couple of posts in this thread.

The page in the WIKI that relates to downgrading the SPL was posted after my original post!

Guilty as charged of not reading the entire thread :-)

Having problems locating the downgrade_spl program, so if anyone is feeling generous, my email address is spice AT spice dot net dot au

Thanks.

OK - when I finally got my brain in order, I got all these versions on, and everything is working well!

Thanks to all for the help!

edit: I said I was stuck in about the same place as recent Aussie poster, but found I'd missed one vital clue in the SPL downgrade - interrupting the M3100v3cUnlock program midway to facilitate the ROMUpgradeUt program.

So, in lieu of me having questions, I'll forward something I heard..
Telstra will be upgrading their HSDPA network software very shortly to support 14M downloads, and simultaneous voice + data. Apparently there will also be ROM/firmware updates for applicable phones & PDAs for the same reason. Look for a new Radio ROM in Australia in a month or two.

@kobyah: Your device is CID locked. GO AND READ THE WIKI!

As your bootloader is 1.04 you can cid unlock it (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=282073) now. If you don't want to CID unlock it, but want to install this rom, run the upgrade utility twice without disconnecting the device from USB. But we aware that your SPL will be 1.09 and you won't be able to put other ROMs on it with a different CID.

Does anybody know how I can retrieve the original Cingular 8525 dialer skin and communication manager skin after upgrading to rom 1.35? I have tried messing around with the Cingular 1.34 extended rom with no success. I don't like the look of the green and also I don't have a front cam, so video conference button isn't needed...n e help would be great...

Hi, I can't tell you the exact path, but basically your Registry' editor will let you "create a new value". Try more!

DAFTEK,

I am using CHT9000 and flashed with South Africa ROM. The layout changed and the keys doesn't match what I had on the keyboard. I resolved it by the following registry

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty]=20404

changed the layout to Taiwan Traditional Chinese which is what CHT9000 is.

Don't know what your unit is, so you'll have to figure that part out yourself.

I hope that helps.

Your question is answered here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Registry

You have to add the following to your registry:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload]
"Default"="e001040a"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload\1]
"Default"="e001040a"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty]

if I use NBHextract on this ROM and then use MTTY to flash the different components (yes, I have the 1.01 bootloader) then will this succeed without buggering up, or are those wiki instructions outdated (and dangerous)

If you just want to upgrade using os.nb then you'll be done in < 5 minutes. Make sure you follow pof's guidelines though and use the version of mtty he included with the MFG bootloader kit.

Your radio ROM version will be unchanged.

Olipro

ok, will do.

<s>just a point; but I flashed the ExtROM from the set, using mtty, and for some reason the ExtROM still contains the Orange UK files, or is that's what's in these files?

actually, could this be due to the customization taking place from the OS rom instead of the ExtROM?</s>

ok, ignore all that, it was indeed... sorry for my ignorance, I only got the phone today as a step up from my trusty old Himalaya, although so far I've managed to SuperCID and unlock it, and command it from mtty without buggering it up so far! :P

I've just updated my (I think is the right term) rom using

RUU_HERMES_HTC_WWE_1[1].35.255.2_1.35.255.102_1.08.00.10_SHIP.

Now the installation was fine but some of the original setting on the t-mobile rom are missing, like the quick launch 'running program' button on the screen, the 3g connection symbol as well as a few quick launch icon that use to be at the top of the main screen ' web & walk , contacts, notes. These have all disappeared, is there a way of getting the t-mobile vario 2 setting back or at least a way of configuring the keys to how it was with t-mobile. I think what i've currently got is the HTC original rom hence the HTC logo when I now turn the phone on.

Ext ROM: 1.35.255.102

I have read all 33 pages of this thread. The main reason why I am thinking of upgrading to this ROM from the original shipped ROM on my Jasjam is the problem that very occasionally my Jasjam goes into deep sleep. What I mean is that by pressing the power button nothing happens and only a soft reset is necessary to wake it up. This problem occurrs more frequently when the unit is on charge. This problem has been discussed on other threads as well.

Can anyone comment if this problem still persists after this ROM upgrade. As I am quite satisfied with my Jasjam except for this "Deep Sleep" problem for me it would be pointless to upgrade if the "Deep Sleep" problem is still not solved with this new ROM either.

Thanks in advance and Regards

Sorry to ask this, but I am just trying to clarify everything before I upgrade to this ROM. I have a SPV 3100 on which I have used pof's "HTC Hermes SIM & CID Unlock – v2a" and it worked first time. Now does this mean that my SPV is also Super CID unlocked, and if I flash it with this new ROM, I will be able to go back to the original Orange one if needed. The original bootloader on the phone was and still is 1.04.

Thanks

PS - Just checked CID with mtty.exe and it returned "level=0" (wouldn't work before), so my only concern is being able to return to the original ROM if needed, realizing that bootloader 1.09 would stay.

This rom works fine on mine. I soemtimes have boring freezes but can always use the power button. Moreover I am not sure whether this is due to installed software or what...

Once you have bootloader 1.09 (from this ROM) it is possible to downgrade to bootloader 1.01 using the Hermes_Bootloader MFG (make sure your device is definitely Super CID or you'll end up with a brick). From here you'll be able to upgrade back to bootloader 1.04 (still using the MFG kit). The instructions and kit are included here -

http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_BootloaderMFG

From here you'll be able to upgrade to any ROM and still independently flash Radio only upgrades.

Hi I'm member of this excellent forum since late '05 I read/comprehend various threads constantly
It's my first post because I have for the first time a doubt... :unsure:
I have a Orange SPV M3100
It's surely now a SuperCID i querried through the mtty terminal
info 2 replied with HTCSSuperCIDHTCEUSB
and task 32 and the value reply was 0

at this point I have a simple childish thing to ask....
If newer versions do come out (and there will be...)
I flash at once (just like my ol' CID/SIM unlocked Vodafone V1240 a.k.a QT-HTC 8310)
Or I have to perform downgrade before I upgrade?

Based on a few suggestions in this thread, I up'd the ROM to the SA 1.35 and my radio to 1.20 from the 1.34 shipped Cingular ROM with no issues as far as the upgrade goes. Maybe I'm imagining things, but my battery life has increased quite a bit. I haven't used my data connection enough yet to tell whether or not the GPRS/UMTS connection has improved...One thing I have noticed after changing from 1.34 shipped Cingular ROM and the radio ROM associated with it is my bluetooth headset (Plantronics 640) gets a little crackly at times. I've also run the registry tweaks for A2DP in HTweakC for stereo bluetooth because I'm planning on purchasing a stereo bluetooth headset soon. From what I've read, the radio ROM only affects the GPRS/UMTS right? Anyway, onto the actual question. Has anyone else noticed a degradation in mono bluetooth quality after upgrading to this ROM?
