Hey all, Leaf Wireless, the new agents for HTC in South Africa seem to be on the ball. They have just posted the second ROM update in 3 weeks.
This one fixes a few issues including a voice message notification that was not on the older version.
Pof I can't get onto the ftp site at present. The username gets rejected. Have the last details you gave me changed?

Rom Version: 1.35.255.2
Rom date: 11/14/06
Radio version: 1.18.00.10
Protocol version: 32.55.7018.01H
Ext. rom version: 1.35.255.102

Enjoy!

Since this posting HTC Europe have announced a new ROM for HTC TyTN devices for release at the end of Jan 2007.(See my post elswhere). So before you go updating your ROM's with the ones presently available-hang on for a couple of weeks. I believe from my sources that this one is worth waiting for.
This news I got directly from HTC Europe and was confirmed by our local distributor. (who is pro-active!)
HTC claim it will resolve " all known issues"

Looks like the South African HTC distributors lead the way in updates for the TyTN.
Maybe you can advise what's changed on this latest ROM update. - The voicemail notification is great - no more missed voicemails.
I had no problems in flashing the ROM and I am a novice!
Good luck.

I am having a look at it now, but I'm at work and have not much time, at first try I saw that bootloader version has changed to 1.09 and Build date for this bootloader is "Nov 7 2006 22:59:17".

Will post details when I have more time to look into it.

Hi

If I install this rom in my
softbank X01HT this will turn the SID lock again ?
If yes.
I can still downgrade the bootloader to 1.04 with
'Extracted 1.04 bootloader-only upgrade' and then use the 'HERM_UNLOCK v2a.exe' again

Thanks

It seems that once bootloader 1.09 is installed it is impossible to downgrade it even with the firmware with the same CID as a device and lower version numbers. The radio stack and the rest downgrades fine, but bootloader stays 1.09. Damn... Should have followed the unlock procedure while had 1.04.

Yes that would appear to be the wise thing to do! Unlock the phone and set permanent SuperCID with Pof's v2.0a unlocker, then try this rom. The phone should stay unlocked and superCID will stick.

You can reinstall other types of ROM with the CID matching yours, but even if you do your SPL won't be downgraded. I just confirmed it by reflashing two slightly different WWE ROMs - Bootloader stays SPL 1.09 no matter what you do!!!

UPDATE: Upgrading to bootloader 1.09 also means that Radio-only ROM upgrade is also out of the question.

Oh, Pof The Great, please descend from heavens and beat the nasty SPL 1.09 with your mighty blows into 1.04 one.... :(

Patience is a virtue.....

It is always wise to to wait a little before upgrading the ROM as you never know what kind of restrictions are placed on your device once its flashed.

In saying that, I am sure that there will be some hack available soon....

I just upgraded my 8525 to this ROM, not knowing the keyboard on the 8525 had a different alternate button layout (ie @ and ? are in different places) than the regular Hermes. Anyone know of a way to fix this?
Other than that my reception seems to be better and the device seems to be a bit zippier without the extra Cingular crap in it.

Nevermind, I found the registry key and changed it back to the Cingular 8525 layout. :) All is well!
I seem to have about 4mb more memory free than the Cingular 1.34 ROM, the device seems considerably faster, reception seems to be improved. Me likey.

Performance seems great!

According to SPB Benchmark, overall performance is up about 8% from the original ROM and Graphics is up a huge 62%.

The TCPMP sound/skip bug is gone too (although still have to use GDI or FrameBuffer modes).

Just make double-sure you use PoF's SuperCID unlocker before you install this ROM. I had a 1.06 bootloader so I installed an older 1.04 ROM first, then CID unlocked, then upgraded to this ROM - the whole process taking an hour or so.

any list of what has been fixed/changed in this ROM?
does this ROM fix the "roaming indicator always on" for people using Cingular in the US? does the battery gague still only go in 10% increments? can you push-and-hold the comm manager button to turn on/off vibrate mode (like the Wizard)? does this ROM fix the issue where my phone will disconnect from the network (like it's in flight mode), but still show connected?
Thanks in advance!

Any correction regarding this problem? Are you guys recomending the upgrade to this ROM? My only problem is the SA.

Screen Alignment is a hardware issue caused by problems with the gaskets between the Screen and the front panel frame, where-by pressure to the frame causes the screen alignment sensors to become mis-calibrated. It is known to affect some older devices with serial numbers HTC62xxx to HT63xxx.

The problem has been acknowledged by HTC who offer a free repair or replacement to owners with afflicted units. There are various posts about this such as THIS THREAD (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1018105)

I had a HT630xxx unit which developed the problem after a few weeks and sent it back to HTC for a replacement, my new HT640xxx has so far worked fine. I don't know about other vendors but I would guess they will do the same for you.

No amount of ROM-flashing will ever solve this I am afraid, you need to send it back.

Work just fine

i had a problem at first i upgraded it and is works faster etc, but keyboard layout was wrong, i have baltic/nordic phone.

i coudnt find ExtROM 1.18.255.108 here to extract nodic keyboard layout so i downgraded to ROM 1.18.255.3 07/22/06 with ExtROM 1.18.255.108, unhided Extrom extracted P_Nordic_keypad_mapping.cab.
And again installed latest ROM 1.35.255.2 11/14/06 and applyed P_Nordic_keypad_mapping.cab

and everything works great

Confirmed this is the best HTC rom yet, TCPMP works nicely (as does coreplayer 1.0) except you must use rawframebuffer or GDI in the video mode or the screen goes mad (a bug using ATi chipset that should be resolved soon by coreplayer people...not a bug in the phone).
Nice and quick and no problems so far. :-)

I would recommend unlocking the CID using pof's unlocker (see sticky thread on upgrading) this ROM is on par (if not better than) the iMate ROM (1.04 bootloader version) and is a genuine HTC TyTN rom so has the appropriate bootup screens etc...

Happy as larry with this rom! :-D

@pof, am using CHT9000, just flashed this rom in the morning (will go to the airport to pickup somebody in the afternoon thus think of getting a better rom to please myself before that :D )

The weird things are
1, I flashed a super CID before flash the rom, then I confirmed the flash by mtty (info 2 and task 32)

2, after flashed this rom, I found the original CID came back.....checked by mtty.

3, some of my hair turned to gray immediately...cos it was said this rom with SPL 1.09 would not allow us to flash back to 1.04 even has the original 1.04 rom.

4, I tried to flash back to CHT 1.04 rom to save my hair...

5, I successfully flahed back to CHT 1.04 rom, but the SPL is still 1.09 :(

could u pls kindly help us to figure out what happened behind? many thanks

athena1973,
I too have a CHT9000, but don't have the problem you're reporting.
I've always had a boot loader 1.04 and have used the dopod 1.23 WWE ROM during past couple of months with Radio 1.20. After 3-pages of feedback on this thread, I decided to try POF's SuperCID patch -- first patched Radio back to (patched) radiod v1.16. Soft-reset, then transferred the Herm_unlock_v2a to my device. Running it on the device using Resco Explorer, it confirmed "SUCCESS" after a minute with no feedback. Afterwards, used MTTY to confirm CID correctly updated to SuperCID.

Then, I applied the new HTC v1.35 ROM. Bootloader was upgraded to 1.09. Using MTTY just now to check, CID still set to SuperCID.

Couple of other observations:

* modifying "QWERTY" does work. Settings DO stick after soft-reset;
* HERMES_MountExtROM.cab (original version) does unhide/unlock extROM;
* blue HTC dialer skin works (the green one is just too much...green);
* sceen brightness time-out still resets to 10-seconds after soft-reset
* battery meter (OmegaOne) still moves in 10% increments;
* no change to A2DP performance;
* overall device speed is just slightly quicker than before.

Cheers

PS: thanks POF for your ingenuity working around the CID

My understanding is that how it should work. The only thing that will remain is the SuperCID status, which will then allow you to flash to any rom so there is now no need for you to have SPL 1.04. Are you sure you don't have SUperCID? How else could you have gone back to the CHT 1.04 rom?

When I run mtty.exe info 2 I get "HTCSSuperCIDHTCEUSB" what do you get?

To keep SuperCID forever you MUST use v2a of the CID unlocker (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=282073) and run the HERM_Unlock_v2a.exe on your device after flashing the patched radio. Otherwise SuperCID is not kept after ROM upgrades.

5, I successfully flahed back to CHT 1.04 rom, but the SPL is still 1.09 :(
As Wam7 points out, this is normal because once you flash 1.09 you can't go back to other SPL version by flashing a ROM matching your CID (it doesn't matter if your device is SuperCID or not).

I'm working to provide a method to load a 1.04 SPL from WinCE so you'll be able to go back to 1.04 again, but this is not ready yet, you'll have to wait.

PS: I am on travel until Dec 3rd and will have few (or none) internet access, not sure if I'll be able to reply from now on.

Yes BT receiver is correctly configured (COM0)... anyway, now it works greatly! Actually there should be a BT communitation (blue led flashing) in order to make TTN6 running properly (or better having also GPS in sync). The blue led on the GPS receiver was solid and probably TTN6 will waits until it goes on sync (!!!)... altought I think that it should be possible to start the application and enter the configuration (and the TomTom PLUS from WLAN) without the need to activate the GPS, yes I know... I'm a special case :) Now all seems OK also with 1.35.255.x

I think restoring anything in the OS after flashing a different ROM would be a very bad idea and would most likely screw up your system bigtime. The registry build from different firmware versions could potentially contain hundreds (or thousands) of differences. Simply restoring a pre-flash copy would not go down well.

Best to manually re-install your apps and just sync your data as you mentioned.

Hi

I have compared the performance of this new ROM 1.35.255.2 bootloader 1.09 from HTC, with the JasJam 1.20.305.104 bootloader 1.04 and I found similar results between them:
1- To open or close Windows directory - about 3s (seconds).
2- To open the City Help software (software similar to TomTom) - 15s
3- Notification LED 2 (the right one which normally blinks green color), it changes to ambar color when receiving SMS and there is an alarm. It doesn't change to ambar color when receive MMS or there is a calendar task in alarm.
4- TCPMP works correctly by pushing the pause/play button and it has the same benchmark in both ROM.

All others older ROM of HTC have following results:
1- about 6s.
2- 30s.
3- Never blink ambar color.
4- TCPMP doesn't work properly when using the pause/play button; after push this button the image and sound slowly and skipping interrupts.

So, this new ROM it´s the first one from HTC we can use. I wonder why only now HTC has issued this one we are waiting from July, when the Jasjam 1.20.305.104 is from July and it works quite well.

PS. I have installed the super CID before to install the new ROM.

Hi Guys,

I just flashed my Softbank with the new Tytn Rom from South Africa.
Everything seems fine. But when opening contacts, and I was trying to search for a name by typing it in (tried it with both keyboard and soft keyboard), but when ever I type anything, it just closes the program by itself, or freezes. If I just scroll down the list, it works fine. It's just the searching function that's messed up. Can any one please lead me in to finding the cause and solution? I think this is a very weird problem to have.

Please help.

I don't have this problem -- typing letters brings up related names highlighting the typed letters until the name I want is shown... address book remains open until contact opened.

Maybe something else causing conflict? Any other PIM's installed that might cause problem (corrupted database?)

Good luck

But can i get supercid if i have installed this rom? From what I know: to install SuperCID you have to go back to bootloader 1.04 first. But this new ROM 1.35 has bootloader 1.09 and it seems that you can't go back to a previous bootloader (yet...). So in that case you can't install SuperCID anymore.

The previous ROM by HTC did not have voice mail notification!Sorry to ask a simple question, but how does the voice mail notification work with this ROM?

Do you get a "notification" message, or does one of the LEDs flash, or what?

Also, does it depend on your operator (I am with O2 UK)? I am assuming that they need to send some sort of signal to the phone to tell it that there is a voice mail waiting?

I'm pretty new to all this stuff, as I've only had my TyTN for 2 days and it's my first PDA phone...

Firstly, I'd like to say thanks to everyone building all the helpfiles etc - I was able to downgrade to SPL 1.04, SuperCID my phone, and then upgrade to this new HTC Sth Africa ROM without a hitch.

Secondly, the ROM:

My 3g reception is MUCH better than the ROM that my unit shipped with (don't have the old version written down, but it was the 22/07/06 ROM)...

The unit is a bit faster in general across all operations. Nothing huge, just a bit snappier.

I haven't had any problems as yet, but I'll keep the forum posted if I find anything!

I think I'll wait until it's possible to downgrade Bootloader 1.09 back to 1.04. Although I have SuperCID I don't want to lose the ability to upgrade only the RadioROM.
Perhaps I don't like the ROM or want to go back to a german one (o2) - then it's no more possible to upgrade to Radio 1.16.0.0 wich is much better than the one included in the shipped upgrade from o2.

Great to hear that! I will flash when I have some free time in the next days.

Edit: I'll also try to change the language using .mui files (asked already here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=283596) if it's possible) - does someone know for sure it's not possible and not worth a try?

(I THINK anyway) If you set the voicemail number to 901 yer?? When you get a txt saying you have received a new voicemail a voicemail icon appears (looks like a cassette tape where you usually get the sms envelope symbol?!). Ive been using Phonealarm and noticed this symbol appear aswell as phonealarm saying i have voicemails.

If I go back to a german o2 ROM my RadioRom would be 1.07.03.10. If I weren't able to upgrade to 1.16.0.0 my Battery would have a worse life. And upgrading the RadioRom is only possible with SPL-1.04

Hi Pof,
I upgraded my ROM on my CHT9000 from Dopod_CHT9000_1237071_1060010_WWE_SHIP to this rom version from Africa "RUU_HERMES_HTC_WWE_1[1].35.255.2_1.35.255.102_1.08.00.10_SHIP" with bootloader 1.09 and now I can't downgrade back to older version.

By the way, have you found the method?

What are the advantages of the new version of ROM?

Now I miss :-( the "already-trained" voice speed dial

I believe this display will depend on your network. The Vodacom network in South Africa gives the following with this new ROM:
1. A message is displayed on the screen notifying of a voice mail received. A small envelope also opens as usual with messaging.
2. The green flashing LED turns to orange.
The above returns to normal once the message has been opened.
This is how the HTC should have worked in the first place.
Thanks to Leaf Wireless in RSA that this feature now works

Nope, sorry. Whilst you could buy sprite and use the ROM upgrade tool, you're always better just reinstalling from scratch.

[just a tad off-topic]

It's funny... with activesync, as long as you rename your device after installing the updated ROM, you can install (most) of your applications right from activesync while syncing the outlook database.

If you didn't install with activesync, keep your CAB files on your microSD card -- I always begin w/Resco Explorer and Registry Editor... then add saved registry tweaks (owner info, QWERTY remap, A2DP Stereo Settings, etc.). Soft-Reset, active-sync... voila, just like new.

Cheers

PS: I don't own back-up software for my ppc... had the free sprite version that came with my hp4150, but really never saw a need for it.

[back on topic]

I have been running this ROM for a while now. DEFINITELY better than the stock TyTN ROM.
I would equate this with the release of the 1.67 ROM for the Wizard. 1.67 was the bugfix ROM while waiting for the AKU2 ROM to release. It fixes most of the minor issues most of us are having with our TyTNs. Should hold you over until HTC releases the official AKU3 ROM for the TyTN.

I took the plunge this morning and ran pof's supercid app before loading this ROM (coming from the original HTC ROM my phone came with).

From the upgrade perspective, everything worked fine. I reload'ed the good client and reinstalled a bunch of my apps.

One issue I am noticing is a problem with 3G connections. On the original ROM, I had no issues getting and locking onto 3G in my office and walking around town. With the new ROM, I find that I'm on the GSM network much more and I don't get the transitions to 3G I used to. This is very annoying as the GSM data connections constantly causes chatters on the speakers and telephone in my office.

(BTW I'm in Boston using a Cingular 3G SIM)

Anyone else notice GSM<->3G issues with this ROM?

aquanaut88
30-11-2006, 02:50 AM
Don't have any experience with Cingular ROM, but with this ROM and radio 1.18, haven't experienced any degradation in 3G connection quality or unusually frequent switching between GSM and UMTS. Previously I used the dopod v1.23 ROM and radio 1.20.

My phone settings are:
Network : manual
Band: Auto/GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(2100)

I've never experience the RF interference issue with the Hermes anywhere -- not like my old nokia 6210.

I also had this problem, upgrade stopped at 1%....Left it for an hour and no progress. Had to stop update, which then left me at the boot loader screen (tri-color) screen. Tried Hard reset as mentioned above, no luck, still stuck in boot loader, tried to reload rom..got error 262 upgrade error

I had just run the unlocker and set device to super CID, and thought maybe that was my problem, but it wasn't

Luckily the wiki had the answer
Problem 4: Device is stuck in bootloader mode (tri-color screen)

>Disable ActiveSync (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=ActiveSync): connections -- settings -- uncheck "Allow USB Connections"
Remove the battery, put it back in, connect the USB cable, power on the unit (this should allow the USB port to be opened again)
Wait a minute or two, if you get a message that device cannot be recognized just close and ignore it
Open http://wiki.xda-developers.com/themes/default/images/http.pngmtty.exe (http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=9864) and select "USB" from the dialog box, then hit Ok.
You should see a white screen, hit enter and you should see a prompt like this: "USB>"
Type set 14 0 (do not copy and paste!!!) and hit enter
Soft reset with stylus
OS ROM and radio version should be back and OS functional, the unit isn't a BRICK anymore!I had to reload the rom. step 8 did nothing, but return me to bootloader. This time the rom upgrade took about 45 minutes to complete. Weird, but it worked...This is first time in at least 4 rom upgrades with this device and at least 50 other rom upgrades that I ever encountered any issues.

Theres an increasing number of people getting this issue. If you've an original rom that matches your CID, then you may be able to recover, however if like me (Orange UK) there's no rom released you either need to wait or return to vendor or htc for reflashing.....

The stereo bluetooth stack doesn't work well in 1.35 rom by default. You need to modify the following key in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->Software->Microsoft->Bluetooth->A2DP->UseJointStereo Change it to 0

Otherwise, your stereo headset comes out mono music.:D

Got SuperCID first, then upgraded yesterday. So far, been great. I had the original HTC ROMS. This is much more responsive...and battery life seems longer. I would have been out of battery now with the amount I have been on the phone.

Thanks POF for the SIM/CID unlocker..worked like a charm!!

A quick question. I updated to the latest rom and then restored my settings with Spb Backup. After restart TyTN device information told me that the ROM was the original 1.18.

So after ROM update you just have to re-install everything from the scratch?

It's been said by many others on this site -- guess it's my turn now -- not very wise to restore system data from a previous rom version -- it'll give you all sorts of nasty little suprises that can be avoided by doing a clean install.

If you want to keep this ROM, you might be wise now to do a simple hard-reset, then install your settings and applications fresh, then do a back-up.

I think you just need to do steps 1 and 2. Once you do the first step, yor phone should be superCID permanently.
Extended rom is a part of the full ROM package. Once you flash the new ROM, it'll write in a new extended ROM for you as well

Greetings,

I've used the posted recommendations to unlock my TyTN and install the latest (South African sourced) ROM. I also found a .cab that changed the slide out keyboard layout to my original Swedish - it all works fine.

But the soft (on screen) keyboard still has the U.S layout. What's the registry setting in the Hermes that changes this?

Thanks,

Please advise me in detail how to do a registery edit. I have downloaded PHMRegEdit but don't know what to do from here on.
I only have mono
I bet my "UseJointStereo=1"
Thanks

PS. I found Resco and have used that to edit my registry. This application is very user friendlt to a newbie. Although I have BitPool settings, I still get the occasional skipping. So I continue to play. But the Nokia HS-12W BT phones sound great. Iam also modding my TyTN std. headphones to use Sennheiser earbuds. Will report on the difference in the future.

2.Is there some good software for WM5 for troughput (bit rate) measurment ?

Friends,

I had cingular ROM with Boot loader 1.04 1 month before. I unlocked my handy using Super CID (V2.exe not V2a.exe!)

Now I have HTC qtek 1.18.416.1 ROM (Boot loader 1.06).

Trying to upgrade it to the latest Qtek ROM (Boot loader 1.09). I get vendor ID error continoulsy. Why is it?

I heard that Super CID (V2.exe) will not be retained after the ROM upgrade. So I should have qtek_001 CID in my rom now and why it is saying vendor ID error to upgrade the rom from the same vendor?

Planning to downgrade it to qtek 1.04 bootloader, then to run v2a.exe to retain Super CID forever. And then will try for the latest qtek rom.

Any other possible ways?

Thanks,

-Ari

I'm not sure right now, because I'm back at 'hideous green dialer' ;) but if I'm right then pin entering screen is dependent from theme not the dialer.

I was hoping this ROM would have fixed the Bluetooth issue, but it hasn't for me.

I still have the problem when using Bluetooth in my car (BMW). Unless the phone is on (can see screen) it doesn't pair correctly. It also doesn't want to push the contact details to the car Bluetooth.

It also turns itself off every now and then, Bluetooth.

I am very happy with my upgrade and I find that the battery life has improved. I am sure it must have to do with your Service provider's network. 3G and HSDPA use a great deal more battery and if the phone keeps switching from HSDPA to 3G to GPRS this could be the cause. But I guess you know that already - just had to tell you that I find the South African upgrade very good. But please bear in mind that this upgrade was designed specifically for our networks.
But I do still have a problem with my Media Player dropping the Storage Card on a regular basis. According to HTC Service Centre in Europe it is a software issue and will be corrected with future upgrades.

The upgrade has been used sucessfully by many users judging from comments on this site. I think the local agents in South Africa have been very pro active in resolving issues with the software in general. I am not technical but I think that Bootloader 1.09 is a natural progression from HTC, as the initial 1.04 has a bug in it which allows modifications to the various sectors of the software - this I doubt is what they intended.
Pof is the right person to address your questions to.

Pleased to report that my UK T Mobile Vario II is upgraded with this ROM and working like a dream. Being a novice I had to do the call and GPRS settings myself but apart from that it is working superbly. I did an initial upgrade after the CID unlock to the Cingular one (as I was in the USA at the time. That works OK but the keyboard is not right and strange keys apear on the screen when you try certain keys. This new upgrade works perfectly on the keyboard.

It can be done (I'm there), but it requires a few extra steps:

- with BL 1.04, run pof's SIM/CID-unlocker to achieve SuperCID status
- Flash complete 1.35 ROM update, which will force you to BL 1.09
- Downgrade to BL 1.04
- Run 1.20 Radio-only update

I must concur with Sleuth, the 1.35 ROM is the fastest overall that I've used to date. And now that I'm back on the 1.20 radio, I'm finding my battery life has been restored...

The 1.20 radio with this ROM is a killer combo IMO. My battery life hasn't improved but I don't have 3G in my area yet. I did have a problem picking up calls though which the 1.20 radio ROM corrected (incoming call: pressing the green button, phone would go off-hook but there would be only silence then the call would drop).

Hey Sleuth, thanks for the recommendation, tried it out and yeah my biggest problem with 135 gone as the battery life is still going strong. before it would have dropped by 20% over 5 hours of non use, this time, 0% (according to the inaccurate battery meter that only goes by 10's) with a couple of mms messages being sent.

Hi,

I have read through this whole thread, but I still don't understand how you can get the 1.35 Rom combined with the 1.20 Radio Rom. I thought the 1.35 forces BL 1.09 and you cannot upgrade the radio only with this BL. Or is there a way to downgrade the BL 1.09 to 1.04 without reflashing the entire ROM. Could someone please advise.

What I need to know is what settings I need to write down that will need re-entering (if at all there is any). For example when I installed Palm Messaging I lost the T-Mobile settings for MMS Gteway, MMS URL which are specific to the operato in this country.

Hope I've clarifies what I'm looking for !

You will probably lose your operator settings as have I. Customisations for MMS, GPRS/3G/EDGE, etc.

Basically any operator specific settings that does not have the ROM setting them up for you. The rest sound be "cookable" via the ExtROM.

Sleuth255

After flashing, you can always reset out of the customizations mode then re-install the original T-Mobile customizations by hand. I haven't checked, but I'd be surprised if a T-Mobile extrom wasn't available here.

First, you need to obtain the bootleg 1.04BL downgrade tool. Posters have been having luck with persistent googling: it seems to pop up every so often. The key here is narrowing down your search with an additional term: "Part1". With this in hand:

Assuming you're SuperCID on v1.35 already...
Now downgrade the BL to 1.04 using the above tool.
Then, simply flash the 1.20 Radio ROM available here and you'll have a Hermes running 1.04BL, SuperCID, 1.35 ROM and 1.20 radio.

When navigating through the several commands of the TomTom, sudently the Tytn blocks. To get out of this situation I have to:

- now by pressing the red hands tomtom icon, tomtom retrieve the previous frame and continue working perfectly more some commands and blocks again.

Howdy folks,

I upgraded my Cingular 8525 with the latest ROM (1.35). I have a few questions.

One: How do I change the color of the communication manager? Mine is an odd shade of green that I would love to put back like it was with Cingular (same with the dialer skin).

Two: I have unlocked and run the SuperCID patch but I still can not change the radio rom. I get an error 114 after the patch runs a while.

Any help would be appreciated!

Mine also does this, but very very rarely. I might get a TomTom crash like once in a blue moon. I have more trouble getting it to work appropriately with the Hermes "built-in" GPS manager. I can seem to get it to link to the GPS if I pick the physical GPS port, but not if I pick the "Program Port" set up in the GPS manager.

It's done this in all ROM's I've yet run on the device (Currently running the latest HTC ROM with a cooked Extended ROM cherry picked from several other companies.)

I never used TTN 6 until I had my Hermes (never had a big enough SD card) so I can't say as to whether it's Hermes related or not.

also it might be a 3rd party application that is causing your problems. Been using the 1.35ROM for close to 2 weeks with no issues like this.

Hi all,

I have 7 HTC 9600 in my company, all this HTC have the original rom except 1 that i use, this one have have this rom (1.18.416.1 07/22/06 ) and I have allway the same problem in the morning my phone is crash, I can´t wake him up, I have to use soft reset.
My tomtom 6.0 will crash two some times….
My big problem is that I’m a developer and I have made some applications for my users, and these applications will have to auto connect to my company server and update some data, butte if the phone is always crash in the morning my users will not have the data update.
Is the new rom (1.35.255.2 11/14/06) fixing this problem? Or some of you guys have this problem?

My phone:
HTC 9600

Herm200
IPL-1.00

Herm200
SPL-1.06

How is the best way to update to new rom (1.35.255.2 11/14/06 ) and keep my phone unlocked?

Hi mpires! Welcome to XDA Developers!

The best way to upgrade is to, start by reading the wiki then branch into the discussions here. The exact answer you're looking for is on this Forum. Can you find it? As a WM developer, I'm actaully a bit surprised you asked this question since you are very used to deploying google search techniques to find elusive Windows functions and obscure access techniques.

Point Google at us (or use the built in search feature) then get happy b/c all the information you ever wanted to know about your device is here!!

Your "reset in the morning" issue has been reported btw. I've not personally experienced it on 1.18 or 1.35 tho...

Anyone know how to change this yet? is it possible to change to the Cingular extended ROM?

Howdy folks,

I upgraded my Cingular 8525 with the latest ROM (1.35). I have a few questions.

One: How do I change the color of the communication manager? Mine is an odd shade of green that I would love to put back like it was with Cingular (same with the dialer skin).

Two: I have unlocked and run the SuperCID patch but I still can not change the radio rom. I get an error 114 after the patch runs a while.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks
John

IIRC there's a whole set of blue skins kicking around somewhere either in this Forum or the regular Hermes forum. It'll fix the phone skin too.

So, I managed to upgrade to 1.35.2552. It is so much better than previous versions. The issue I seem to have is that the ActiveSync the "when mail arrive" option no longer seems to work. In fact, it seems to have been removed from ActiveSync. I can tell the com manager to support DirectPush, but it does not seem to do anything. I need to have activesync on a schedule to get Exchange mail, something I did not have to do prior to the upgrade. Any suggestions?

I originally have a MDA Vario II by T-Mobile and installed this rom about a week ago. It's working perfectly, except for one issue.

I'm having an issue when sending text messages. Every text message I send, is received twice on the other side.

This is confirmed by enabling delivery reports, as I receive two delivery reports for each SMS I send.

I think I read about this issue somewhere before, but can't find it anymore on google nor on these forums.

Could anyone help me on this?

We were told to remove it b/c it contained code proprietary to imei-check. :(

Hi
I've been using this rom for a couple of weeks and push mail and activesync work fine. I'm do have a few issues with Tomtom 6 hanging from time to time, but otherwise no probs. Have also downgraded bootloader to 1.04 too, took 2 minutes!
Cheers

Have had this rom running for the past 2 weeks with the following apps:

- BB connect
- SPB Weather
- Resco File Explorer
- TomTom Navigator 6
- HTC X Button
- Windows Live Messenger Beta
- Startup Manager

The ROM is fast and works perfectly...until you want to use TomTom Navigator. 8/10 it will crash on startup - will show the map screen but when you touch the screen to navigate through the menus it will hang. The only workaround is to press the red "hangup" button and then selct the red TTN icon in the systray - this works, but makes driving down the german autobahns rather dangerous.

So, I am now going to try a different rom, install the above apps and see if the problem persists.

Will let you know...

When tomtom hangs it works for me if I wait 5-10 seconds and then press the 'start' hardware button twice to go to the today screen, then use the Tomtom tray icon to go back into Tomtom. After that tomtom responds again.

Im glad its not just me then, Tomtom worked flawlessly on the original Tytn rom but is definately iffy on this one. I may too be going back to an earlier rom shortly . . .

Ps A Merry Christmas to all!

I will try to downgrade the bootloader and see if that makes a difference. Right now, I have no ability to have DirectPush.

The bootloader & the ROM itself have no effect on your direct push problem. Double check your configuration. Also, restoring your email settings from backup can cause issues with Direct Push. Hopefully you didn't do that...

Thank you for saving me the time with the downgrade. I did not restore. It allows me to say "As they arrive", but nothing happens when I set it up that way.

In an older ROM, I was asked to out a XXXXX@XXXXXX.XXX after I said I wanted to use "As they arrive", but that does not exist in this ROM. I wonder if that matters?

Here is what I did to make it work. I ran the extended rom cab, took the battery out for about 30 seconds, rebooted. Went to the extended rom, ran autostart, and voila - after it rebooted, mail started coming in. I sent myself a few test messages from another account to exchange, and bingo - directpush works. I have no idea what was wrong, but it is now fixed.

Yes I tried a few ROM's and had the same issue with TomTom, that is until I stopped using the standard Orange case that came with the device. I'm sure since switching to another case it is behaving a bit better. Not saying it's perfect, but it does appear to be better.

Maybe that huge magnet in the original case was messing with it.

same problem with TOMTOM here also using jasjam rom wwe shipped.

cant help it, the only solution is to press the red hang up button and select it from the bottom tray.

Could someone write a script/macro function to do this automatically, hence, launch tomtom, press the red hang up button, and then reload it from the bottom tray?

Hi Friends,

I couldn't use MP3 ring tones in my TyTn. I use a latest 1.35 ROM. Find more details in my signature.

Does anybody else experienced this?

Is there a way to get rid of?

-Ari

Hi, i can't set mp3 as Ringtone too, but with the older O2-ROM it worked fine.
Is it possible to set mp3 as ringtone with this ROM, or do I have a bug?
I have Mortplayer installed, you too Arivazhagan?

Solved the Problem, deselected mp3 as Fileassociation with Mortplayer and now it works to set mp3 as ringtone again.

actually figured this out today.... when you send an SMS, either leave the inbox window open untill the message is sent, or press and hold the 'x' in the top right untill the drop down menu gives you the option to minimise.

Pocket plus will close all apps when you click on the 'x' instead of windows default 'minimise, because of this, windows sends the sms, then when you re open the inbox, pocket plus sends it again... thats kinda what happens i think.

but best bet, don't close inbox untill its sent

This fixed my problem. But instead of using SPB Pocket plus I've been using the HTC X-button application, which also closes the applications.

Hope others are helped with this as well. Sorry I posted it in here as I first thought it was a ROM-specific problem.

Hi, I'm currently using hTc TyTN with 1.35.255.2 ROM WWE and having a problem with MMS. Almost every time MMS Composer tries to connect to MMS server, a notification below shows up and I have to choose Yes to continue.
"In order to send/download MMS, the current active connection must be closed (this may affect other application in use). Do you want to continue?"

After the connection is successful, MMS is downloaded fine and GPRS connection is automatically disconnected.

In [Settings]-[Connections]-[Advanced]tab-[Select Networks], both settings are set to "VFJP Network", which is my GPRS settings for MMS connection.

Is there a way to avoid this message to show up?

Hey all,

Unfortunately the BB Connect client decided to stop working with the new firmware. The client itself connects and says connected however no mails get in.
The desktop client is unable to do a bulk sync (calendar) with the device.

Is there some setting I forgot about? I had my original HTC TyTN rom from 6 months ago before this and it worked fine.

Any advice is appreciated.

Good news...

BB Connect working with this SA Rom.
I did only use the flash since I have an original unlocked TyTN.

It works now but with a newer version which I found with my friends from StarHub in Singapore:
http://www.starhub.com/business/productsandservices/mobileservice/blackberry_connect.html

It refers to a certain Dopod rom but I can comfirm it works on the SA rom
1.35.255.102 / radio 1.18.00.10 on a unlocked TyTN.

Attached the BB Connect software for on the device. (2.1.2.31).
The Desktop software can be downloaded by StarHub.

Happy Blackberry time on your Hermes :) :) :)

I have a HTC TyTN with ROM 1.18.255.3.

I upgraded to the latest release.

The new file when through all the motions but when I look at the system device information it still tells me I am running 1.18 and not 1.35.

Any ideas?
