Hello all,
i am a newbie, so i am sorry if there is already a topic on this, as i have been searching and searching, and just cant seem to find anything that seems to directly help.
My laptop, connects to the net via an ethernet cable, and i would then like to connect to my laptop via wi-fi with my wizard.
I have managed to somehow create a ad-hoc connection to my laptop via wi-fi, which i believe is some kind of P2P thingy.
However i am unable to map a network drive in resco explorer, and everytime i go on to internet explorer i get a little message stating that the page can not be displayed.
am i missing something somewhere, or is this just not possiable.
Thanks in advance.

I'm not really sure that you can do this at least not the way i think you are trying to do it. I didn't think laptops could act as access points which is what you need. If your laptop has bluetooth then you could create a connection using it and map a drive from the Wizard to the laptop.

It can be done.
I did the same thing before, now i prefer to use bluetooth, but it definitly can be done.
first, i created an ad hoc connection between my wizard and the pc's belkini usb wifi adapter. then i mapped the shared folder on my laptop with total commander. i must say i had problems doing it with rescos explorer, maybe thats the catch. anyway, i was able to browse through my drive with no problems, mp3, small avi etc. it can be done!
and here goes the question to rkwhyte2: i'have been trying to acces my pc's shared folder using bluetooth active sync connection with no luck, how to do it? i've been looking for an answer since 2 months...

Sorry for butting in....
I don't know about accessing shared folder through BT, but after trying and trying AND trying, I was finally able to do an activesync through BT. The catch was to make sure PC has a BT "COM port" assigned. and then create partnership with PC's "Activesync" service (I had 3 listed..Dialup net,Activesync, and headset).
OOOOPS, almost forgot. make sure in Activesync settings that "Allow connections to one of the following" is set to the COM port assigned to BT.

You have had much better luck than I and the steps you have listed are pretty much all you need. My problem has always been getting the com ports that I needed. I am currently running Faria's aku3 ROM and it uses internet sharing and so uses bluetooth as a PAN. Makes life quite a bit easier all I had to do was tell the phone to use bluetooth PAN instead of USB and I was able to use map a drive between the phone and my PC.

yes, thats all right, thats exactly what i use. a bit tricky but still easy thing to do, thats why i didn't list the steps. so as i said i have activesync connection working both on usb and BT, i can use my pc's net connection while hooked to pc and so on and so on. the only thing is that i can acces my drive using Async usb, and i can'd using Async BT. question is why... i went even looking into bluetooth drivers settings on my pc, but no luck here... and since several weeks noone seems to know the answer... :(

I'm not exactly sure what PAN is, could you explain it please? is it personal area network? where do you set this?
