Looking for T9 input cab (PhonePad)

I do a lot of texting , and the tiny little keyboard just aint as easy to use with my fingers with one hand.

My Artemis didnt have a Keypad , or T-9 input keypad, only had the keyboard, block recognizer, transcriber, & letter recognizer.

My old S200/Jamin had the Keypad dialer , made texting so much easier.

Anyone know where I can located a cab file for T-9 input??

Just copy over the cab file in your my documents folder and Launch, you should reboot the Artemis.

This one is international, so with different languages on board.

The version posted is 1.0 (Build 22364)

Maybe its your null keyboard thats causing the problems - i recall when i used it - it was a bit glitchy.

It's definitely not the Null Keyboard, which I've never had a problem with, as the problems occurred even before I installed the Null Keyboard.

The version I'm referring to is also 1.0, but build 18526. (I don't know why they don't increase the version number like every other software vendor).

I'll try the version posted, and see whether I continue to experience problems (that is if it works on PPC2003....)

Wrote too soon! It's already locked up on me. Managed to lock the whole device this time, though, rather than just the SIP. I had to do a soft reset. (I'm wondering whether it's a combination of using PenPower and the PhonePad together).

The Phone Pad - International.CAB.zip seem to work fine on the HTC P-3300.
Just point and hold on the small up arrow on the right side of the keyboard icon when you write an SMS to choose it.

Norwegian is not included in the file posted in this thread however.

I guess we need to install the T9NorwegianLdb.dll for that. Anyone know where to copy it? I am unable to find the phone pad directory in WM5.

Was a little daft there. Of course this application just installs to the Windows folder.

The T9NorwegianLdb.dll posted by paalkr from the S100 does not work on the HTC P3300.

1. You can't simply copy it to the Windows folder. A registry entry or something is needed.
2. If you rename it to T9FrenchLdb.dll for example and choose french Text and T9 won't work.

Guess we need a DLL that works with the Phonepad posted on this thread. Anyone have a working solution?

you have to put the .cab file onto your device/sd card and tap it in explorer, then it will be installed.

That wasn't the problem. I know what to do with the .cab file. The problem was that when I downloaded the "Phone Pad - International.CAB.zip" file it only came with 10Kb, and when I tried to unzip it, and an error kept occuring.

But now I've downloaded it again and it came with 1Mb. No problem now. I'm going to test it.

Try this file. I think it is made for O2 Atom, but I am using it with my Trinity HTC P3600. It also has more languages, for instance Swedish !!

Smilys - does the norwegian version work when you place the dll in windows? - i am concerned it may not come up on the list.

Remember the other languages will show up in the settings list but are not selectable - it will always revert back to default language.

I have managed to edit the WWE cab so only english comes up in the settings list of languages.

I have made my installation uninstallable so as to be per factory.

So if anybody will to test diff cabs in attempt to get only one language in the settings list - pm me.

The O2 Phoneplus is something I miss from my Atom :( You call up a number with the phone pad, and you can edit it with the cursor before dialing. It was so cool.

I've tried to install O2Plus tools (from Orbit Extended ROM - avaible in xda-developers ftp site) on my Artemis and the installation went well, but at the end a message appeared: "This program is designed for use in Orbit only" -- something like this. And then although I could see the O2 plugins among Today items, after choosing them nothing happened...

Since the Orbit and the Artemis have the same hardware I think O2 stuff doesn't harm Artemis and has some useful features that HTC lacks (profiles, last call indicator, etc.)

I post the problem to the Upgrading, modifying... forum too, but maybe someone here will find a good solution! If you want, you can check the cab file itself, because I attached it to my post in the other forum.

Hi. Sorry to bother you..I installed the greek cab on my p3300 but it doesn't work..It appears but when i try to write it doesn't write anything.. Only if i keep a button pressed it writes the number of the button...Any suggestions?

Here is another norwegian phonepad cab - please try - you may need to select Czech in settings i have changed the dll's name to try and fool phonepad into using norwegian dll.

At the moment it wont work as only the 10 languages supplied with international cab will. If you add the slovak dll into \windows on the device it will not show on the list of selectable languages - same problem is with the norwegian dll.

Ongas cannot think how to make greek t9 work.

Why not rename the Norwegian dll to the English dll for example. Then the system thinks it's the english language but you substituded it with the norwegian language.... worth a try i guess :)

I used to have a Hungarian T-Mobile branded Magician so I had T9HungarianLdb.dll among other languages on board. When I switched to Artemis

1. copied T9HungarianLdb.dll to a safe heaven in my PC.

2. Installed PhonePad International version (comes with many languages but WITHOUT Hungarian).

3. Copied T9HungarianLdb.dll to \Windows folder of Artemis.

4. Edited the Artemis Registry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\IntelliPad

I made two changes there:

a.)
Incereased by one the value of the "LibraryCount" dword (in my case from 10 to 11)

b.)
Created a "Library10" dword with the value of 10. (Actually this is the eleventh library because there is a "Library0" too.)

That's it!

Soft reset and then I could see the Hungarian among the other languages in the Options of PhonePad. I have happily been using it so far.

Unfortunately I have no special dll for other languages, but I think the method is the same. If someone is interested in the Hungarian dll I will extract and post here next time.

Imate has recently launched PDAL .. unlike a JAM it does not have the T9 input phone pad...I have tried installing HTC phone pad english and international.. but they don't work... the 'phone pad' option only gets listed in the phone but doesnt work.. can anyone please help?

The PhonePad only displays in english.. when i change it to german, the phonepad is always in english... after soft reset it is in german but do not display...

1)Switch off any devices like WiFi, Bluetooth, and for the moment disable any start-up applications (from starting) - To minimize system memory usage
I have done it with SPB Pocket Plus. It can disable any start-up application becuase it starts in "safe-mode"...

2)Remove CF and SD storage cards - There have been some bugs reported for storage cards where they may drain system resources if too many applications are loaded on the cards.

3)Select the default keyboard as the default input method - To temporarily prevent other input methods from being the default method

4)Soft reset the device

5)Open an application like Notes/Word

6)Select Phone Pade as the input method by clicking on the screen's bottom right icon's arrow and selecting Phone Pad from the list of available input options.

7)You should be able to use Phone Pad in all other applications as well as switching on WiFi and the start-up applications.

For me works fine, after soft reset !!!

Please try this solution.... and give us feedback!!

I've tried this (albeit on my Trinity, but I guess it should be the same) to add swedish T9 and a separate T9SwedishLdb.dll I got off of a Qtek S200.
The thing I found is that the dword value in the newly created "Library10" (in ctibor's case above the value "10") should reflect the language you are trying to add.
I did some experimenting before I got the T9 swedish to work, and here are my findings for the different values:
7=Danish
8=Dutch
9=Finnish
10=Hungarian
11=Norwegian
12=Polish
13=Romanian
14=Slovak
15=Swedish
I didn't try any further, as it was Swedish I was looking for...
NB! You still need the separate dll to copy to your device as ctibor describes above, this is just the register hack to get your language choosable in the drop down in the PhonePad input settings.

thanks for the futher clarification. I think the only hardship now is to get the right .dll for your language if it's not among the languages of international cab.

I was lucky because I could use the Hungarian dll from my old device and it works well with the last Phone Pad version (althought my dll belonged to the v1.0 of Phone Pad -- Magician has that one, if I remember well).

I think it's not the problem of phone pad.
When i use 2 keyboard than it's works ok, but when i install a third one than i have the problem to.

When i have install the standard one with resco keyboard than everything is ok but when i install phone pad as a third one than the phone pad doesn't popup.

But more of that : SPB Fullscreen Keybord and Blimkey don't work too !!

I tried to soft reset, to use SIP changer....nothing work

Just copy over the cab file in your my documents folder and Launch, you should reboot the Artemis.

This one is international, so with different languages on board.

I have a htc p3600 and I just got the swedish t9 to work after some hazzles in the phonepad. In the beginning only russian worked, no matter which language I picked. But now it´s working after putting in the swedish dll by hand.. It´s great to now to have to use the stylus now when I write sms messages. But one annoying thing is that there are still russian letters on the keys along with the swedish ones. Doesn´t really matter for the functionality, but it´s highly annoying!

Yes it includes those 3 languages - prob little 2 save having a cab with just those 3 languages.

Does anyone know of any other similar app like PhonePad, but with larger buttons? I think phonepad is a bit "messy", I would like to have just the normal type keypad with as large keys as possible, not with the extra added buttons to be able to write text messages even better...

Very odd - had done a soft reset and no luck but on taking the battery out and then turning it back on whilst trying something else it seems to have worked :)

I use this phonepad. It´s made for TyTN but works perfectly on my HTC P3300. Just install it from your phone and soft-reset. When your acces fx. your messages you can now choose this phonepad. You can also choose settings for different languages with T9 dictionary. This is the languages that is supports.

Thanks a lot for the TyTN version of PhonePad! Had a lot of problems with the other version of phonepad that I found here that didn´t work properly and even thou I installed the swedish t9.dll it still had the ugly russian (sorry russian guys :) letter on the keys. But this one is A LOT better, so thanks!!

I too have a problem with my NEW SPV M700 when trying to load the cab file from both versions of Phone Pad International that you have posted. I have Windows Mobile 5.1.342 OS and my phone is identical to Trinity HTC P3600 but i CANNOT seem to make it work at all. It's getting very annoying cos' i have to decide whether to keep it or send it back by tomorrow.

I dont care if i have to pay for a t9 phone pad as long as i get one that works... Can ANYONE help me?

You have to change your input method from "keyboard" to "Phonepad"

I.e. The icon at the bottom of th screen has an up arrow. click the arrow and change input method .

Thank you very much Ctibor and hiblopp! Ctibor's 4 step description with hiblopp's important addition worked well on my Mio A701 with Slovak language DLL.
I set LibraryCount to 11 and Library10 to 14.
I downloaded additional language DLLs from Slovak forum http://www.pocketpc.sk/software-novinky/620-t9-subory.html
There is link to http://rapidshare.com/files/33340208/T9_DLL_do_PDA.rar on that forum.
The file contains Slovak, Polish, Hungarian and Czech DLLs. May be it will interest other people from our region too.

Hi, I have one new finding.
I used the procedure from Ctibor and hiblopp (Page 9 of this thread) to add the 11th language (Slovak in my case). I noticed, that after soft reboot the Slovak T9 input worked well. But after I changed T9 language to English, I could not return to Slovak. Additionally, when I 1) changed the keyboard to other (Resco for example), then 2) changed settings of PhonePad to Slovak language and then 3) tried to switch the keyboard back to PhonePad, it did not work - after that I could not return to PhonePad anymore. The keyboard was switched to default keyboard of my Mio A701. Someone already posted such problem.
Then I made yet another experiment. I do not need 10 languages parallely.(Who really undestands 10 ...) So I returned the value of LibraryCount to 10 and I modified the 10th entry to point to the Slovak DLL, by setting Library9 to 14. Then, after soft reset, I could switch between all 10 languages (I tried 4 of them I know). May be my finding is related to issues posted by others - some people reported, that they cannot really switch from one language to another. It seems that the multilanguage CAB file, posted in this thread "Phone Pad - International.CAB", works well with 10 languages, but not with 11.
My finding is not much tested, please let me know, if I am right.

Hi bogino! The file you mentioned seemed to contain the Polish dll only. But with a little bit of Google-ing I finally found the Romanian one. With the great instructions from page 9 (actually I had to increase the LibraryCount dword to 14 in the registry), I managed to install it and it works perfectly! :D

After a lot of searching i have found a greek version of PhonePad (or intellipad or however else you'd like to call it ;)) on another topic, and i'm posting a link here in case someone else is looking for it as well.

It's still not perfect yet, it's got a couple of issues that need addressing but it's almost working perfectly :)

The main thing is that, as mentioned here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1096239&postcount=24, most ppl in greece are used to a diferent key mapping, so we just need to figure out a way to change it.

Dont know if i can help, as most of the testing i've done was on a P3600 (Trinity), and some on a P3300, both with WM6.

I'm not a great expert but, finally, I solved the problem that afflicted me after updating my ROM on Universal with the new one of Capante!!

NOW THE PHONE PAD WORKS! ALLA GRANDE!!

Then there indicating the procedure to be followed, if there can be useful.

-- Download the version international phone pad from here

-- Now the "most difficult", open a Registry editor and go into hkey_local_machine \ software \ htc \ IntelliPad and set the following values:
