I think the MTeoR has the same circuits as the TyTN which has all of these features, so I don't think it is impossible. But I agree it sounds too good to be true! :)

I just uploaded my MteoR and it seems that the software problems are fixed.
I could't take a second call and syncing and have a telephonecall together gave network and data connection problems.

After a first test everything was functioning well.

im not too sure too jipeey, the presence of quadband means there is 850MHz GSM support, and i think we need feedback from north american users. also there is triband UMTS, which im not sure how to test it as well.. anyone has a better solution?

jipeey, what you can do for us is, can you please post the ROM version, AKU version, Radio version, etc.. here? all this info can be found in settings-->about and system information. thanks in advance

It's for band selection, to let your phone to be able to choose between 2G/3G.

This menu was already in previous ROM.

But now it seems that the mail account bug (some accounts disappeared after reboot).

Don't know. I don't have a WM Smartphone right now to look. Using the Nokia e70 at the moment. Under Network isn't there a way to go to manual and say which GSM band that you want to use? I know on some phones there's a selection for 850/1900 and 900/1800. For the life of me I can't remember. Really never had the need to go in and change the settings from Automatic.

Right. I mean Tri equaling the three UMTS bands. I don't have any use for these in the U.S. on T-Mobile but I am interested in the GSM 850 band. I was all set to buy this phone several weeks ago after reading many reviews that it was Tri UMTS and Quad GSM but was disappointed to learn that it had been dropped. The circuits could be in there and were disabled by ROM to get it out the door quicker. The only true test for me would be to buy one and drive from Boston to Montreal. Last time I did this my wife's 900/1800/1900 phone couldn't connect but my XDA IIs did being Quad. Other than that road trip there's no way for me to push it onto 850 band, as far as I know.

Hi all

Just upgraded to RUU_BREE100_1.30.251.1_1.16.00.10_HTCEUR_Ship.exe on my brand new MTeOR, and now it can't get beyond the 'Windows Mobile' flash screen. Connects OK to activesync, and I can explore the mobile device, but I can't use the actual device itself, since the screen hangs.

Downgrading to RUU_BREE100_1.13.251.2_1.06.00.10_QtekEUR_Ship_R3. exe solved this problem.

The reason I upgraded was that I keep losing signal (Both GPRS and UMTS) when synchronising with my exchange account, and the new rom had new radioversion. The signal is also lost at random times even if I'm not synchronising, but not nearly as often.

Any thoughts or experiences at all?

Booting with no SIM card made it start up normally with the newest ROM. However, when I rebooted with my SIM in place, it can't find the network. In fact it can't read the SIM at all. And this SIM is less than a week old.

This leaves me with no option other than going back to my old cellphone which, while crappy at everything else, at least doesn't lose the signal arbitarily.

Well... the sim works fine with both umts and gprs on the old ROM. The new one won't even register the sim, and doesn't even ask for my pin. Tried the phone with the new rom and another sim (And another network operator), and it worked flawlessly.

Can anyone tell me how often new ROM's are released? And where to get them?

It works together with GSM and UMTS, but when he is searching to 3G/UMTS you will loose connection !!

There are several rom's on the FTP server: ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads, but only the new HTC rom is working 100% for me, and i use all the possibilitys on the phone.

You also have to find a program from your provider wich will install the internet connections.

yes, if your operator supports it, HSDPA can go upto 3.6Mbit/sec theoretically (3.0 should be available)

Hi, Can someone help Please !!!!!!!

Ive just updated mine but it crashed halfway through due to the USB cable becoming disconnected.

I ran the recovery and it said it was fine, but now I only get the three coloured screen.

I run the update again and its all fine till it runs the percentage update bit, never starts then erros and reads

I can help. Advice is help aswell. I advice you to buy a new one, you can use this one as a paperpress.

The thing is that i've got same thing with my Ornge C500. But there is a way for that. You can try to find information for that machine, it is available on this forum. Than just change files for the ones you need, DON'T use C500 Rom.

Rant: Acutally, I'm starting to get fed up with HTC/Qtek...
My previous phone was a Qtek 8500, which occasionally lost the contents of the storage card, and had random reboots. It was finally returned to the shop, and I got the MTeor as a replacement... maybe I should have returned to an SE phone. I could at least depend on it being on, and in the network...

I have had the network type selector on 2G only for almost as long as I've had the phone, since 3G sucks the battery dry in less than a day.

I live in Norway, so it's an European network. Before I upgraded, I had the band selector set to "Euro type", but now it's set to auto.

The issue is that sometimes when I pick up the phone after leaving it alone for a while, the display will show "Searching...", "No service" or "Home service". When I restart the phone, I immediately get full signal strength. The signal where I live is almost always full strength.

I don't have the problem as often now, as I did with the old ROM.
Edit: It's actually only happened twice since I upgraded a couple of weeks ago. With the old ROM, ot happened several times a week.

I had medium signal before answering the call, answered it, and no connection.
Display showed "Home service"...

I learned something very interesting concerning UMTS in general.

The more people use a cell the smaller the cell get's. So in a very busy are this can happen.

My Mteor is working fine for telephony still after the upgrade i'm with A1/Vodafon in Austria mainly on 3G.

Might be because it's positioned as first 3g smartphone. BUT!!! Why TyTN doesn't have the problem??? They seem to use one radio module.
One more thing. 3G is still to new. And the problem might be in some networks setting up UMTS/WCDMA incorectly. 3 UK is crap. How comes, in central London better communication quality on O2 or Orange then 3. Different networks - different equipment - different signal streinth and quality...

I have set my phone to gsm only now and still gets the "no service" problem. Tried to call my phone and got to my voicemail.
Turn radio or phone off/on and everything works again.

I just want to confirm that I have identical symptoms to Smedberg and Royan. No matter if I set it to UMTS or only GSM. No matter if I am in Sweden (using Telia network) or in Denmark (roaming on TDC).
Please note that although it in most cases is enough to just turn radio off/on, in some cases the radio will not come on again. It just refuses and stays off. In those cases, a phone restart is the only option.

The problem can appear with the phone just lying on the desk, but is more common when I'm moving around (in the car or on foot). Last week it happened 5-6 times during a trip to northern Germany (bordershop) as we drove through Denmark. During that trip almost all of the times were when I connected to gprs in order to look at some web page.

I really need this issue to be fixed!

Just a quick question to SecureGSM.
The issue you haven't seen on radio 1.20, is it the same as problem as some of us have reported here? or is it just that the display is showing wrong?

I'm tempted to update to Hermes radio 1.20, as it seems like it has worked for several other MTeoR owners...
The problem is that it has worked for "several" ovners, and not "all"... :)

I have the MTeoR now and although I placed a Cingular SIM into it and it did connect, it came up with a roaming icon. I know Cingular has 850/1900 but I'm unsure of what is available in Boston. My only real test will mean a road trip to Montreal. No plans of that anytime soon.

I was not able to. The new ROM includes bootloader 1.07 (vs. 2.05). I was not able to update the Radio ROM with bootloader 1.07. After I downgraded to a full release ROM with bootloader 2.05, The Hermes radio ROMS loaded wihtout a hitch.

BTW I also loaded the setHSDPA.lnk into my startup directory. WIth the Hermes radio and HSDPA enable run, ther was no HSDPA joy in Portland.

Either the chipset used in my meteor has HSPDA disabled in hardware or, there is another ingredient missing from the recipe. Nayone have a clue how to read the the chipset ID and configuration info?
