Not realy a Tytn issue but i run a GPS app called GPS Tuner (ww.gpstuner.com) which allows you to navigate off road. You load .jpg maps to your mobile and it navigates with your gps receiver.

just wondering if anyone know where i can get large scale .jpg maps of uk regions?

Try GoogleEarth or other mapping software. A lot of them allow you to save their maps in JPG format.
