Hi all,
Us English speaking Tokyo-based X01HT users who are dancing a fine line with Softbank contract breaches, phone bricking and invalidating warranties need to stick together.
As such, me and Aquasesh are organising a small event to discuss X01HT, software, usage, access, ROMs, and general Tokyo mobile technology.
The date is Tuesday, the 12th of December. The time is from 7pm at the Toranomon Dubliners. Information and a map is here - http://r.gnavi.co.jp/fl/en/g008215/.
If anyone has any questions, or if you're planning on coming, please send me a private message. I'll respond with my mobile number so you can contact me.
Hope to see you all there !

I absolutely certain we will do it more frequently. Different venues, different program. Ideas are always welcome.

Dandare, no problem at all - I'm sure we'll organise some more get-togethers over the coming weeks and months.
If someone brings a digital camera, I'll even post some photos up on http://gadgetjim.yourjapan.jp (http://gadgetjim.yourjapan.jp/).
See you guys next Tuesday. If the people who are coming can drop me a private message, I'll tell you my phone number (of course, it's my X01HT's number. :)

Just wanted to let you guys know,
Take Ginza line to Toranomon and then preferrably EXIT 8 ot 9.
Its closest to the Pub...its about 3 min walk from either of those exits.
When you get up the stairs, just walk straight...thats all.

Hi guys,
This is slightly off topic but you may know best of anyone. I'm in Tokyo with my Cingular 8525. Data works, but it's not the blazing speeds I expected. I believe HSDPA is enabled, but I think my phone is sending traffic all the way back through Cingular's gateway. When I try to remove the gateway information, the connection tries and re-tries to connect, sort of half working.
Any ideas if there's another way to configure the My ISP setting to use NTT Docomo (or any other service)?
I'll see if I can get a buddy to help me get to the meeting. I don't know my way around but I can share what I know about hacking these phones. I had my 8125 Wizard hacked up pretty nicely and have carried quite a bit over to this phone.
Thanks!

Hey mate!
Would be nice if you could come. Its not so difficult to find. Just get to Shimbashi, and from there it is only 1 station on Ginza line...thats all. I can give you my number, so you can call if you have trouble.
To your problem. Im not so sure if you can use Softbank`s or Docomo`s gateway. But i will try and find out...how long youre gonna be in Tokyo?

I am so disappointed I can't go... darn it... i was in Osaka this weekend and planned to stay there until this get together (Tokyo is much nearer from Osaka than from Hiroshima) but I had to go back home to Hiroshima because of some family emergency. So sorry I'm gonna miss this one...

Its gonna be fine to show up without your phone. But you have to feel comfortable. There will be another meeting. Until then you should (hopefully) have your phone back.
(Why is it in service, if you dont mind asking.!?)

When you sent it for repair how long has it been? I have to send my phone in for repair on monday and I'm hoping that they will fix it soon, I would think that one month would be too long but what can I do. I have a corrupt radio, I think that they would have to replace the main board for it to work. I'm still trying out different options to fix it but I would like to know the wait time.
Did you have to pay for it to be repaired? When they boot my phone and it says i-mate I think my warranty will be void.

It was a good meeting. 4 people most of the time and one more (the organiser ;-) turned up later. It was good to share tips and tricks.
As the last event was the 2nd Tuesday of the month, how about making that a regular date? That would make the next one Tuesday 9th Jan.
The Dubliners was nice if a bit noisy. What do others thinking of the venue? It's hard to find a good venue but http://www.thepinkcow.com (Shibuya) is a nice place and they have wi-fi that they may let us use if we need it. Some parts of the place it can be difficult to get a good signal with DoCoMo but I'm guessing Softbank is okay as that's what the owner/manager Traci uses.

Hey Andrew
thanks for coming. I spoke with Logimob already and we are good to go for another event. I am trying to find a nice location and will check out The PinkCow. Would you care to show me this place, i have never been there.
Monthly meetings are definately a good idea. I would suggest to hold it Fridays or Saturdays early evening. So we can avoid "rushing from work" stress or late meetings "Mr Logimob" ;) lol

My preference would be pretty much anytime except Friday evenings or weekends :) But everyone has different priorities so perhaps we can alternate.
I'll be having a small 'Tech Talk' gathering at the Pink Cow on 5th Jan. and Wacom (of Tablet PC technology fame) will be presenting on 10th so you welcome to come to either of those (free) events if you want to see the place. For details see http://www.japanevents.net

Hey Andrew
Jan 5th? That would make it a Friday...
Anyway, i already thought about it and according to your previous suggestions, scheduled ThePinkCow on the 9th. I last sent you a PM last week.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=287119
But i can edit that and we can have it in the 5th. Unless the "Tech Talk" is not a particular X01ht event....then scratch what i said ;)
