First and for most, thank you one and all for this great resource, since finding this site, I have become far more knowledgeable and more productive with my TyTN.
I have two questions regarding possible registry edits that might enable some functions that I find most useful on my Motorola and would find equally useful on the TyTN.
1) Cingular Wireless’s sim chip instructs the phone to disable the network selection functions as well as read the network name from its PLMN table (where almost every MCC-MNC for the USA is masked as Cingular) rather than the phone’s PLMN table which is far more complete. Is there any way to override those settings by registry edit (or some other means) to have the device ignore the SIM chip’s instructions in this regard?
2) Cingular Wireless employs the AMR-HR codec heavily in my area and in poor signal instances (around my home for example) I am unable to maintain calls using the AMR-HR codec. Is there any way through registry edit or some other means to disable the AMR-HR codec while preferable preserving the AMR-FR codec or less preferably enabling the EFR codec and disabling the AMR codec all together?
One other question, my TyTN is OEM HTC and thus unbranded, if I was working with a Motorola device no other intervention would be required (from an unlocking standpoint) as the device is completely unlocked once the subsidy lock is removed. However it appears from reading this board that the one most also unlock their device’s CID. Is the CID lock dependant on carrier branding or is it independent and thus an unbranded OEM HTC would also have a CID lock?
Thanks again for all of your help,
Dan
