This is the first place I've found that offers a silicon case for the Trinity.
http://www.cradle-king.com/products/p-detail.asp?id=259
I haven't bought anything from Cradle King, but I sent an e-mail to Brando and the reply was that they would have them in stock in about 2 weeks. Brando is a dependable source. http://shop.brando.com.hk/

www.ids.hk is the source where I get my cases from, about same delivery forecast for Trinity case. But I cannot help it, kind of makes a device look cheap. I prefer a holster, and put the real thing on the table... :-)

Yeah, I know it is kind of a shame to put a nice device in a condom :). I am very active in summer sports where I wear the least amount of clothing possible and put my phone in my shorts at the gym so the rubber thingy is good for me. It also stops it from sliding onto the floor.

Just received a black silicon case from IDS. Good quality, excellent fit. All the buttons are copied in the silicon.

One thing that disappoints me (but has nothing to do with this supplier) is that the silicon case is thicker than I thought. It makes the P3600 look a bit bigger, but more problematically: it doesn't fit my Brodit Active Holder anymore... I'll need to choose between taking the silicon case off every time, or cut away some parts at the bottom.

But the case itself is highly recommended...

Expecting mine by this days, but does it feel much more thicker, for exemple when you put it in your pocket?

Sorry for the delay guys :o

The case is about 1mm. It does feel thicker in your hands, although that can be subjective.

If style is your top priority, I suggest you take a transparent case (or no case at all), because matte black is less stylish than the high-gloss finish of the P3600.

For me it's all about protection. It's definitely great against fingerprints and protects you from black-peel-problem, and you'll get a good grip on your p3600.

It looks just like the one I have for my Prophet. Of course it doesn't look as nice as the "naked" Trinity. However, I only have to use my Trinity for 10 seconds and it looks worse because of fingerprints...just terrible. They should have given it a finish like the Prophet. Anyway, I have to use a cover otherwise I'd break the thing for sure.

This is the best thing for the Trinity or any device in my mind, I bought one of these for an IPOD, no added thickness, no taking away from the looks and it doesn't scratch and best of all, keeps your device looking brand new.

Only catch, last time I checked, they didn't have a Trinity version yet lots of other HTC devices though.

TouTaFon: Wasn't that hard to put on the IPOD but it does take patience, the nice thing is they are washable and very durable and once you get them on, they are very hard to scratch and your device isn't any thicker.

Yeah hopefully they will release one soon while my unit is still looking new :)

Has anyone used the Boxwave Flexiskin? Is it any good? They claim it's thin... is it that much thinner than the other ones?

I wonder if they'll ship to Australia?

cyclist
9th April 2007, 01:33 AM
I had a Boxwave Flexiskin for a previous device. It was a lot thinner than a Chinese made one I got, and also had a nicer feel to it.
Boxwave ship to UK so they probably ship to Australia as well. Email and ask them!

lmjabreu

It looks thinner alright, I've ordered the ids.hk one, which was delivered very quickly with free shipping, the skin is nice, but thick, and IMO it's not a perfect fit - around the rear camera & front buttons, the scroll wheel is too deep because of the silicone thickness. I think I'll try the Flexiskin. Does anyone have pics of it?

KamaL
9th April 2007, 02:52 AM
I'm also interested in this FlexiSkin... It's quite expensive, so it would be great if somebody could tell us his impressions about it.

1) I know it's not made of metal or plastic, but does it provide minimal protection?
2) Does it accumulate too much dust beneath it?
3) I noticed it covers the front buttons - Is the touch still good with it?
4) Thickness - can u still put it in pocket with it?

official product site has some pics:

I've got a black flexskin from Boxwave for my P3600. To answer ericthc they shipped mine to New Zealand so I'm sure that shipping to Aussie won't be a problem!

It provides pretty good protection, and I've found makes the unit easier to hold, without it I always feel like it is going to slip out of my hands when making a call. It makes the unit slightly larger (thickness is a little bit less than 1mm) but is still definitely pocketable with it on.

Dust beneath it doesn't seem to be a problem, I have found it attacts dust on the outside though, you can see the dust on the pics I've attached, and that was after I cleaned it!

No problems with using the buttons with it on, it is contoured to fit the buttons which works well. Only gripe is that the usage of the scroll wheel on the side is a little compromised, they should have made it a bit thinner around the wheel.

Only 1 other grip apart from the scroll wheel is that there is a very thin section in the case near the stylus hole - can be seen in the pic which shows the bottom of the unit. It looks likely to break in this area, but after a month or so of use this hasn't happened.

Are you using any screen protector?

Took about a week to get to NZ.

Screen protector - definitely! Got one from a colleague, was originally for a Dopod D818 but it fits the P3600 screen OK. Fit is not quite perfect, it is about 1/2mm too small but it works fine.

I have been using a silicone cover for about two months and I am disappointed with it. It is about 1.5 to 2 mm thick so the device is 3 to 4 mm thicker overall. It really cheapens the look of this mighty machine. Worst of all I removed it the other day after weeks on and the Trinity has several scratch marks/areas from dust or dirt that got behind the cover.

I am now in the market for an alternate solution. I am interested in the shieldzone product. I also bought egrips plain sheets from www.egrips.com and am experimenting with that to see if I can customise this for the Trinity.

Hmm, that is the first time I've seen the ShieldZone products. Personally, I still prefer silicon for the cover because I drop my phone regularly...hard. Anyway, I'm interested in the screen protectors, have you used others like PPC Techs or Brando? If so, how do these compare?
Thanks.

I use Martin Fields protectors too, and have had no problems on various touch screens.

Personally, I find cases a waste of time. They hide the design, and thicken the device up so that it no longer is the sleek unit which slips into a pocket easily.

In addition, how many of us keep the device for more than a year, so does it really need to be protected for such a relatively short time?

I don't think a case offers much protection to a dropped phone - it all depends how it lands. I've dropped previous phones and they have landed on the ends, so no real damage. But the m700 is a bit more rounded, so my only addition is a wrist strap which seems to help to hold on to the device

In the UK phones are often free with new contracts or upgrades after 12 months.

I tend to get bored with the phone long before it gets scratched

Have a look at my posts earlier in this thread - have taken a couple of pics of my Trinity with the Boxwave flexskin on it. I gave the unit a quick wipe before taking the pics, but the dust is still quite obvious.

However I'd much rather put up with the dust than break/scratch the thing without the flexskin on!

I would suggest you not get one of these. I had one on my atom exec, and dust and other stuff get between the case and the pda and actually doesn't get out. Especially sand and it scratches both the case and the pda more than if you had nothing on the pda in the first place. the pictures are also rather slimming, all of these tend to make the pda huge (the plastic is about 2mm thick)

the silicon covers are brilliant.

I know a lot of people hate hiding their PDA in a cover, but the advantages far outwiegh the look thing.

!) i can set my tinity on my car dashboard with the GPS running, I have the perfect place for it, dont need a big gooseneck mount and the PDA doesnt go slipping all over the place.

2) Its protecting my Trinity so that I can sell it for the best value whenever i upgrade next.

3) It makes the Trinity very easy to hold , I have MS and have a bit of a grip problem

4) I'm using a clear cover, its not very thick and it doent hide any of the phones light up parts or access's

5) best place to buy - surf EBay - i got mine for less than Ģ3 delivered

6) It does make it a bit mor difficult to put the Trinity in your pocket - grips on the way in

7) mine has some kind of antistatic coating, so it doesnt attract dirt etc - its easy to wash anyway.

al in - the silicon covers are very well reccommended as long as you use it with a screen protector.

I have spent a few hundred dollars on leather cases in the last few years, and I have to tell you that the inexpensive--($7.00) black case from LeeOnline thru eBay is one of the best I have ever had. I am into looks as well, but with the design and composition of the Trinity, the is an awesome accessory. If you get one and DON'T like it, so, you lost about $10.00. If you do, well worth the $$$$$$$.

I'm using a silicon cover, and I'm happy with it but I only use it for hiking bikeriding boating, etc. At work I use a custom made cotton case (glove type) which is easy to take of to answer a call and keeps dust and scratches away while in pocket.
Anyway, when using the silicon cover I find that GPS signal is lower (I don't have accurate tests). Has anyone noticed this? Here exactly is the GPS antena located? Maybe a hole can be made in the case to improve reception.
