Let us define Vanilla version as intersection of versions provided by different end-user manufacturers (Qtek, O2, I-mate, and so on).

So we have:
- Camera: Yes
- MMS: Yes
- "VGA" Capabilities: No
- Extras: No!
- Phonepad: Yes
- Smartdialer: Yes (No because of technical problems)
- Additional file type support (Audio & Video): Yes
- Video Call / Video Plug in: Yes

Seconded.

Cheers,

Steve.

Does your service provider comes with an auto configure?

If no, go to "Settings" --> "Personal" --> "Phone" --> "Voice Mail and Text Messages".

Check with your service provider what is the "Text Messages service center" number.
Thank you very much.
When I corrected Messages service center Number it worked, thank you again.
You are welcome

Yes, but IE already has hi-res facilities in AKU3.x (AFAIA). I don't think the whole device needs to be in VGA as standard.

Steve.

Dear Helmi,

At first, I'll thank you for your great efforts and presenting us a nice rom release.
I have some critical issues with WA2 and your AKU 3.5 release that I never encountered before (in other AKU release). Initially I thought, might be WA2 (2.7.0.1) has a compatibility issues with AKU3.5.
Today I have downloaded Ivan's AKU3.5 beta and flashed my Universal and interestingly WA2 works without any problem.

It looks some fine tuning is required in your ROM build to make WA2 working.

The following problem I'm having with WA2 (from your build):

a. Task Manager shows no running apps.
b. WA2 getting freezes very often.
c. Running skin getting corupted frequently and lost its start menu button and fixed by the reinstallation of the same skin!

Waiting for a new stable release!

Helmi, Your ROM is great. I have everything running smoothly, except, I have two questions:

1. Bluetooth. Ever since I installed your ROM, nobody can send files through bluetooth to me. I wanted to buy a bluetooth Stereo headset but can your ROM's bluetooth support A2DP yet? Where can I find a bluetooth CAB that will enable my bluetooth again? Thanks.

2. I wanted to buy a 4 GB SDCard for my unit. Can this ROM support a 4GB card? or a HCSD card? Thanks.

Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A2DP is included in this ROM. I am using it and have no problems. Indeed I have very much the feeling the functionality and the sound quality is the best so fare I have seen.

Furthermore let me share one funny experience I gain.
I have install this ROM one or two weeks ago and had a lot of problems with partial freezing and very slow speed. Therefore after 2 day unhappy trial I changed back to my old ROM. (sure the installation procedure was correct)

As I have nothing to do then changing ROM’s weekly on my device, somehow 5 days ago I flash again the Helmi’s 3.5.
However this time just for fun I flash it 3 x times lol ( as I said I have nothing to do)
Which means: flash ROM --> hard reset --> flash ROM--> hard rest --> Flash ROM

Now comes the funny part: I do not have any previous problems that I had !!!! Speed, stability, battery live all good.
I had not a single hanger. I know many of you will ask have you install same application? YES I did.

I am not sure whether it would be indicating that sometimes during flashing a new ROM not all the components are installed correctly.

Hehe.. Nothing to do, huh? :D ... Well I think it's a common situation, as in if one time you install and something does not go right, the next time you install the ROM again you'll not have the same problem but another one. Strange but quite predictable as I've seen the same behaviour with Microsoft's PC OSes.

What about including following TTFs in the image?

-Consolas (all 4 variations)
-Lucida Console
-MS Nina (+bold)
-Times New Roman (all 4 variations)

This way they wouldn't waste internal memory and I think they are useful for everyone.

Cheers,
-mARKUS

P.S.: Why does everyone wants a Vanilla-image when the additional apps don't take any internal memory or RAM (when they're not running)?

Hello, Helmi,
first of all thank you for your effort! You are doing a great job!
From my point of view vanila version means just no point 4 - No Extras (not a single one)... and a lots of cab files so everyone have the possibilities to adjust his Uni.

The only problem with this is there is no space saving by having these "Extras" in the ROM. You can't use the ROM for installing apps anyway so why waste the Storage space with them by installing using CABs? Makes no sense. If you don't use them, don't use them. It won't slow down your "brick that beeps".

Yes, we've got the point.
But! If these "extra" programs are set up to run at startup, they eat precious program memory!

Saying more, every "resident" program adds its own bugs to overall instability. I have impression that there is no memory protection in this OS, that is one program can freely overwrite other program's memory.

about "VGA" mode:

It is required only for old programs that seem to run in some "compatibility" mode, doubling every pixel in X and Y.

Which Web browser does require that mode?

- Internet Explorer now is able to show pictures in normal resolution (Hires option);
- Opera 8.5/8.6 works ok;
- NetFront 3.3 works ok;
- Minimo works ok;
- Even Acrobat Reader 2.0 runs in normal resolution (you need to place small .mui file near its .exe file);

So I personally do not need it.

Afaik, none of these "extra" programs are set to run at startup so they don't eat any "precious program memory" until you run them. But yeah, the OS' memory protection is non-existant afaik. I suppose that goes along with the near-non-existant program memory...

Either way, i'm still looking for a decent Cascading Start Menu replacement. WA2 is nice but a bit of a resource whore. I'll put it on for now but if anyone knows of a lighter Start Menu replacement that would be great :)

Thanks for the pointer, i tried it but it didnt seem to like landscape mode much and wasnt very responsive.

In the end i've settled with WisBar Lite which seems like a good compromise. Has all the features i used and none of the Theme crap that seemed to take up so much program memory. It's still a bit of a resource whore but buggers cant be choosers as they say...

I have upgraded to the Helmi 3.5 Rom 2 days ago following advices from this forum to clean up any old extended rom stuff before refresh. To be extra safe, I copy the Helmi empty extended rom into the refresh folder to allow it to be used during the process. For Radio, I use 1.14 and install the "standardize2" patch.

Other than the smartdial issue and some other minor stuff highlighted in this thread, the new 3.5 Rom is surprisingly stable for the last 2 days. No hang, no power problem and I don't observe memory leak issue (about the same as the Indra rom I used before).

Just want to report back. Thanks Helmi for a great rom!

It suppossed to standarize the cache (Ivan ROM is a standar version none tweaked) so for compability issues the standarize.cab standarize some of it. This cab might be usefull for app that need a lot of resource. and if u planning using alot of today plugin.

I decided to try Helmi's 3.5 after frequent lock up from Ivan's 3.5

There is this weird problem that I have yet to figure out.

Upon soft reset, i get around 12-14MB of free RAM, however when I run close app under the Extras of Programs, I get 22MB RAM free.

I do not have anything in StartUp folder other than the default stuff. I will appreciate any comments, thanks!

Once again, thank you Helmi for your great work.

Strange!

Normally after soft reset, with Wisbar, SMS, CE Star & Bluetooth Tray Icon running, I get around 22~23MB, sometime lucky can hit 24MB, but it run down very fast to less than 20MB especially in bad network situation. So I just soft reset again.

The combination of this ROM + Radio 1.14.10 + Singtel is just like the AKU1 with Radio 1.04 which leak memory very badly when come to bad network situation, especially at home (coverage in my area is bad). Outdoors memory leak seems ok.

So far the Radio with least leak is Radio 1.11.00 but have other hang up issues.

So nothing is perfect. Just live with the best combination and be happy.

I'm running 1.14 radio ROM.

I can live with this ROM, if memory runs low, perfomring the Close App program really helps free significant amount of RAM.

I used to get only 14MB of RAM free after soft reset with Ivan's AKU 3.2, and I survived with it. Comparing 14MB and 22MB of RAM free, there isn't any great performance improvements or degradation.

thanks CWKJ for answering my question.

I am getting after soft reset something like 27Meg. I have installed many applications.
The only think I do is keep only 2X IM in the register (my choice is keyboard and the Tengo)
Furthermore I have used the SK tools to disable most of the Today screen applications.

I am currently using only SPB diary on the today screen which shows me most of the info that I need on the today screen.
Furthermore I’m using the SKmenu for task management and shortcut for application icons.
It has taking me sometime to setup for my personal usage. But I HAVE TO SAY This software really Rocks.
I have previously use Spb pocket plus or WS but those guys eating up to 2meg memory and slowing entire device down.

However after heavy daily usage I am ending up with ca 20-22meg left over

For helping to enhance the ROM,... I found two minor issues...
choosing one of the ringtones "ringer 1-4" or also "telephone ring 1-3" isn't possible for me. It always jumps back to the previous chosen.
Another thing is that the phone in several cases hung up and closing wasn't possible anymore. Only a soft-reset helped. I yet don't know if this problem comes with the HTC-button closer.

I copied the file in the empty_extended_rom folder into the main folder to allow it to be installed together with the rest. This would clear any stuff from the earlier rom to be installed which would otherwise create some funny problems for the Universal... I learned from my own mistakes.

Today is my 3rd day with the new 3.5 rom. Am pretty happy with the stability, speed and ram usage of this rom.

I don't see any complaints on memory leaks anymore.
Are they gone ? (the leaks...)

I haven't used my MDA Pro during Xmas, so it was on standby all those days.
In 5 days the available memory dropped from 22 Mb to 14 Mb :(

Is this a AKU 3.x problem ?

It is really very strange to have memory dropped from 22Mb to 14Mb when the device is in standby mode....

Do you have your activesync running? For my case, I disable the push ability completely since it needs to activate the activesync.

Whenever activesync is in used, it draws more and more memory as time goes by.....that is my experience:

When I connected to my machine with USB, if I unplug it quickly after sync, the memory is ok after I close the activesync, if I left my device connected for a long period of time, the memory dropped a lot and I need to do a soft reset.

Cheers,

If I turn that off, after a while it is running again.
I remember to have read somewhere on this forum, you can disable ActiveSync from restarting itself.

Having used this Rom now since it was published I must say I am very happy with it. All except one bugs are minor to me and do not bother me that much.

Except one! Being a road warrior I do need internet sharing to work, and it does not. Not over Wifi (which seems to be normal for some ROM's, although on others it works) but worse not over GPRS. when I start the program it will not connect to the GPRS connection. A "helpful" cannot connect for an unknown reason message appears.

I tried the same connection with my Blue Angel (Helmi 3.5) and it works good on that machine (although not via Wifi).

Helmi, any idea why your Rom does not support this functionality and whether the bug is solveable on short notice.

For all other Rom-warriors. Has anybody tried Ivan's 3.5 Rom and does this connect?

Hi Helmi,

I confirm the ringtone problem Sammy pointed out... If i choose any of the mentioned tones, it jumps back to the previous tone.

Also, there certainly is some memory leak... After a soft-reset, the available memory is around 20~23 Mb but after about say an hour (of doing nothing on the device) , it automatically drops down to 14 Mb & stays there...
This problem existed in the 3.3 version aswell...

The emails are pushed to device as they are arriving in the MS Live Mail inbox, it is really great

Hi Bulldog, what entries did you remove in the registry to modify the IM selection to improve the ram usage? I use Tweak2K2 to hide them but no impact on ram.

Appreciate your sharing. Thanks.

works fine except for the HEAVY usage of memory
I use such apps

Wisbar + PB in this rom I have 12 mb in 2 days running

Wisbar + PB in Official o2 rom I have 19 in 2 days running

for me Free program memory is more essential than speed of the device

otherwise this is an amazing ROM

for all those who desire speed and other extras of WM5 aku 3s

I've been using this rom for about 3-4 weeks and I must say its da best at da moment apart from it not having smart dial. my two tedious probs r
windows live keep signing out if u open another applications, I've got the htc tas manager disable so its nothing to do wid it. b4 on da aku 3.2 u could leave it close and it would b sign on until u sign out manually.

windows media player keep skipping video and audio tracks so I have to use core player

I.E sometimes closes automatically
apart from those I cud live wid this rom until sumting better comes out.

Try installing Windows Live Messenger from the CAB file instead of using the one on the ROM.

I had that problem, as well as signing in and none of my contacts showing online when they were. I installed from the CAB and it seemed OK.

Is it correct that from AKU3.0 on the Contacts app mixes up SIM and normal contacts in the list? Is there any chance to have the AKU2.x-style with SIM contacts at the end of the list?

Contact in Aku2.x is Phone Contacts above & SIM Contacts below.

Contact in Aku3.x is one after another according to aphabetical order of the name. So you will have 2 in a row if they are the same name in the Phone & in the SIM.

Hmm, maybe if there is an option to turn on/off which memory you wish to see (like the Nokia), it would be nice!

Windows Live in the ROM is ok for me.

I can see my MSN Contacts both online, offline or whatever status. But I have not online too long, so I have not encounter the hangup problem.

The only problem I encounter with Windows Live is cannot receive Hotmail (sent is ok). I copied the PMSN*.* files from Aku2 to make my receive hotmail works.

I've noticed something quite interesting if not annoying with Windows Live Messenger on the AKU 3.5. When you first sign on, it downloads all of your contact list to the contacts folder (which is probably why we can see our contacts without signing in) ... But the situation I get is that I sync my MDA with Outlook which I have already assigned under "IM Address" which then works partially in tandem with MSN/Live Messenger. Because of this I'm having duplicate entries in my contacts and therefore I prefer the old MSN Messenger from the older ROMs. Another thing was that it took my quite a while to change the sign in account. Can't even remember what I did. I think I logged in and then through options or something. I think that's a bad design flaw or just a beta?

I had this with about 30 contacts, it took a long time, but I had to delete the contact with just the email address, add this to the correct contact, and then in the contact properties, select add to windows live.

It's worth it in the long run, but it's a real pain in the ass.

Ok guys, I've tried both Ivan and Helmi AKU 3.5 roms.

I find Helmi faster and with lots of bugs fixed (shell keys, connection status icon, etc) but i've encountered these problems:

- the "Simb." key (for accents...) in my italian qtek 9000 doesn't work (i've set in the registry 1040 qwerty it localization)
- the button 4 (press & hold) works only if the command is "Notes" and however not always
- internet explorer in the Ivan is the newest with high resolution image support (really interesting even if i use opera) but in helmi's rom it doesn't seem to be the same
- tapping onto the clock on top does nothing, no balloon popup with time, battery and next appointment
- pop3 email account (mine with SSL) can't connect to server if its address is entered with port included (relay.poste.it:993)
-i'm not able to hide from system panel in settings the two applets "new menu for wm5" and "startup manager", does anyone know what are their id-names used in CPIApplet interface for moving them to group 3 in the registry?
- sometime the data connection is lost for a moment and then reestablished (something with radio rom 1.14.10?)

Ivan's rom is really polite but too much vanilla now (lots of misconfigurations)! i'll wait for testing new ones

in the end i think this rom is the best i have used but: while cooking next rom, could the keyboard driver (keybddr.dll) be replaced with the last working one from previous roms?

i hope my post will be useful for someone...

PS: sorry for my english... :S

The majority of these problems are due to an SPB Backup restore. You're restoring old Windows files over new ones. Notice that even the Windows version is changed to the old one when you restore!!!

I would agree if I haden't tested. Several times I did do a spb backup resotre, and the whole PPC was unusable with crashes, strange windows etc.. So, I hardresetted, tried lesser resoration options, still no deal.

So, I abandoned the backup.

BUT! I have big memory issues with this ROM update, first one by the way. I have no programs installed exept TotalCommander and I always close my programs when not using them.

So, at usage I only have TaskManager and the Windows Live applications running. after a few hours idling, I run out of memory when starting PIE. Only 2 megs left then. So, major memory leaks. But, I love this ROM anyways.

Thank you guys for sacrificing your spare time to develop and help us not so knowledgable.

I have over 200+ contacts in my MSN, having contacts linked is a very very bad idea

I've done the following:
I've noticed that if one contact's IM address is filled out properly then Windows Live doesn't create a new 'MSN' contact, but uses the current contact, and replaces the contact icon to 'msn' icon in the contact list.

So: before windows live install you have to fill out every contact's IM address properly and you have to synchornize the contacts with Win Live - everything will be OK. And this can be done as many times as you want - when you editing the contacts needs to be done juste one time.

I don't really talk to all of them. Usually on a usual night, only around 60 are online, and only chat to around 10 of them only.

That's a no go for me too, sadly. It will simply take too much time.

Microsoft think ahead of us for the latest WLM release for PPC. The convient of having contacts tied to MSN Messnger was to provide ease for us locating a contact.

How good would WLM on PPC be without the contacts sync feature, but with the others which are already in place.

Anyone have a good source/solution/idea about the memory issue in this ROM?

I mean, I have about 18-20 Mb free at boot. A few hours later, only using MSN, I have 2.5Mb's :(

Close all programs application works good, but then it's not fun to close down everything just because the ROM eats memory of some reason.

Helmi, release next one soon :P

I've became a ROM freak with the need of more RAM :P

Probably the problem was the keyboard layout preload settings i modified in the registry form xxx409 to xxx410... I'm using AKU 3.5 and Radio 1.14.10 for quite a while now. I think you should try reinstalling the ROM. Maybe that'll fix the errors. If anything, after installing Helmi's ROMs after a full charge SPB Pocket Plus states 10hrs of battery life as opposed to the other AKU ROMs which said only a max of 7 or 8 hours tops. The reinstallation should fix your problems.

Forgive me for posting here. I am new to this forum and maybe in need of some advice as to where to place these posts.

Has anybody had success setting up a GPS receiver on the Universal? I have a SysOn Bluetooth GPS receiver and I cannot seem to get it working with the Universal. Pairing works fine and I allocate COM0 as the Outbound port in the Bluetooth setup area. I use the GPS program (what looks like a port sharing software program that allows one physical port to be shared on a virtual port on the WM5 platform - Setting, System, GPS) and everything looks fine but I cannot seem to get the application (WiFiFoFum2) to open the port. I have tried various logical options but with no success. I have also tried to turn 'Manage GPS automatically' on and off in the GPS port sharing program but without success.

Any suggestions, advice would be most welcomed.

I also wish to use my Universal as a modem for my laptop while I travel. I assume I should be using ICS but I do not seem to be able to get this working. Having read through a number of posts it appears that ICS may have an issue on the software load I am using. Could this be confirmed or could someone point me in the right direction to try and get this going.

Looking forward to your replies.

I should also add that the Helmi load is magnificent. My universal is now a great tool and no longer a smart looking paperweight. Looking forward to the next release :)

Cheers

Ian

I had no problems using my Jentro BT-GPS-8 with Helmi's 1.3 Rom either.

I don't use the GPS thing in the control panel though, I did everything in the "Bluetooth Settings" panel, I ticked "Serial Port" when it was pairing, then in the "Com Ports" tab, I chose new outgoing port, and assigned "Com 8" to my GPS device. Simple as that! Worked perfectly with Route 66...

Hi! I newer saw some error message like yours... But if you want to install a new ExtROM, you don't need to unlock it. You have only let run the MaUpgradeUt.ex with your ExtROM-file.

Hi everybody!

Currently i have a Helmi 3.5 CE ROM with 1.14.10 Radio Stack. I had some problems with incoming SMS. Yesterday after installing the program: SMSDRFixWM5 (this is a small modify for pop up SMS delivery message) I couldn't get any SMS more.
I had former problems with getting SMS, it should be a problem with WM5.

I have exactly the same modifications like you do, without having any problems. Some time I have a long delay in receiving SMS (maybe a couple of hours), but as I assumed this is due to the fact that the telephone provider center is not sending the SMS in time. I hope that I helped a little bit.

Hi All,

Just a quick post.

The GPS unit is now working on my Universal. The problem seems to relate to the com port selection for the Outbound port in the Bluetooth setting for the GPS device. The default (Com 0) does not seem to work but now I re-paired the SysOn GPS box with the Universal selecting Com 5 everything seems to be in order. I am using MapKing BTW. I have tried to use the GPS port share program but that still does not seem to work. Any advice on using this part of the Universal would be most welcomed.

Any news on ICS for the Universal?

I would certainly like to get this working if at all possible.

Does anyone know if I am posting this in the correct area? I am posting here as I am using this version of code for my Universal but that seems only a general topic for a specific application.

You have to set the bluetooth gps on com8 and a new incoming port on com5, this settings worked for me yesterday when i paired my universal with an xgps receiver.

I've been using this ROM for 2 weeks now, and it is so great with no real issues, I have 2 small "things" though:

I actually miss the Cyberon voice dialing program, since my headset supports it, anyone got it? - or can direct me to a d'load link?

And secondly I have this funny thing with TT6 r(egistered version installed via the TT home program on my desktop).
TT6 starts up by itself every time I perform a softreset, or my Uni performs one (The battery thing!), anyone had this happen to them?

Not too difficult to avoid though, just rename the autorun.exe file in the 2577 folder in the root of the storagecard, and it doesn't happen, BUT other devices (non HTC) I've tried does not, even if they have the same folder.

To them nothing happens (after a softreset) unless they have "lost" their installation of TT6 - powerloss on WM2003 for instance - in that case TT6 reinstalls itself, which is probably the whole idea with the 2577 folder?

On their PPC's they have TT6 start up, if they take out their storagecard, and reinsert it.

A guy I know has a HP 4700 with WM5 and he does not have this, so it is probably NOT due to WM5?

Never tried it with other AKU 3's because I only just got TT6.

So 2 things:

-Cyberon Voice Dial?

- TT6 autostart after softreset?

Anyone can help out?

I confirm that the "program" port doesn't work on this ROM, but the "hardware" one - does. Anyway - I don't use more than one program at a time with GPS receiver.
Yes, you need the Outbound port set up in the BT GPS connection.

That was it! These days I change the bootsplash while I'm messing about with the nk.nbf dump on my PC, but every time I ran that cab, it broke my "Remove Programs" app.

Anything that I had installed before running enablerapi.cab still showed up in "Remove Programs" and could be uninstalled, but any new software I used would have to be uninstalled via ActiveSync.

Sorry, that's no help at all really, but at least you know what to avoid...

Hello, Helmi!
I need to say what your AKU3.5_v1.3.1 is just a great!
This is ONLY AKU3 which is free from annoing bug with periodical,
occasionally short(0.3-0.5 sec) sound silence moments in bluetooth
stereo headphones.
I try all of AKU3 plased in xda-developers ftp since october 2006, but
all of them has this bug. Even WM6! But your 1.3.1 don't!
Please, backup and save BT-stack which you implement in 1.3.1 version.
It is RIGHT BT-stack!

Anyone using Pocket Informant with AKU3.5? AKU3.5 allows you to see the contacts in SIM and if using PI for contact, there would be sort of a double entry, 1 entry from the SIM and 1 contact from the address book in outlook. Here. Check this link from the wiki. Here you can read through the page and you'll find the part about showing/hiding the battery, commManager, rotate icon, etc.... You'll need a registry editor. On the page look for "Remove Icons from the Taskbar".

Lol!! ... Bill Gates, huh? .. Hehe... Well the point I was trying to make was that it has allot of free memory with this ROM. Mostly with any ROM when you start up is when you have the most memory, then after opening and closing apps and also by leaving it connected to the Active Sync for long periods of time you'll notice that the memory leaks and gets significantly low. With Helmi_c's Vanilla ROM, it's just a plain clean OS. No extra apps, etc. Hence you don't have background programs eating the memory and making the set slow. Try it out.

As for the the Internet Sharing, well I haven't tried it. Actually never really have ever. Maybe someone else can help with that. However you should try it out.

Hi, great tweak, thank you!
It works on Midget's Vanilla Crossbow as well.
Can you tell me the original settings for the Screenrotate as well?

HKLM\Services\...
HKLM\System\GDI\Rotation\...

Thank you,

Leo :)

For the screen rotate go to the following and change the DWord accordingly:

To Remove Screen Rotation:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\services\screenrotate\ShowIcon

Change the value to 1 to show the screen rotate.
Change the value to 0 to hide the screen rotate.

Everyone should read this from the wiki. It'll really help you guys out.

That's strange. I can see mine (not greyed out) though i haven't tested it as my sim is not 3g enabled (old sim card!).

But with the new Crossbow rom it's different. The keys were different!
Anyway It's fixed already.

I agree wth the other people who say this is a good ROM. So far it has seen stable and quick - very impressed.

Doesanybody know how to change the user agent in Pocket IE for this ROM? I have made the usual registry changes and it still has refernces like "IEMobile6.8" in it.

Cheers,

Steve

Anyone any ideas on this?

Steve.

Is there a setting maybe somewhere that controls the video dialing?

I used CeleDial with Helmi vanilla rom, and the video call button disappeared.

CeleDial is like a replacement for the smartdial and it works with AKU3.5 but then i lost the video call button.

Helmi - 131 freezes up on me reguLARILY. Also in ozvga gprs / signal icons don't display at top. Signal icon just flashes intermittently. 130 works fine in comparison.

I loaded 131 same as for 130 and did notice memory improvement of 6mb for the same installation and 7mb storage. but no signal bar in ozvga is a problem as is frequent lock ups. Particulariliy 131 didn't like phone alarm 158 either.

I tried the vga correction cab midget said to install with crossbow to make ozvga work but this din't make any difference in your 131 build.

Well guess what - I just tried all the crossbow variations - all didn't work properly EXCEPT PDAVIET. This goes like the clappers runs ozvga albeit with midget's version of the ozvga application, uses next to no memory and has some nice inbuilt accessories to boot!

So ALan, you are not quite right in this case although the base is obviously the same this one works better. By the way, Indra's version is by far the slowest.

ALSO NONE OF THE WM 6 ROMS ACTIVATE THE AUTORUN COMMAND IN THE EXTENDED ROM.

Simon

Dear helmi,

Your AKU3.5_v1.3.1 is really promising. A big thanks to you for the vanilla release.
I have some issue with the current build:

- Wisbar Advance (2.7.01) taskbar doesn't show any running apps in the task list. Usually it should show an icon (at least) in the taskbar when the app is minimized. But it's always empty in the current build.
- No 'Disconnect' button in connection buble. Usually I get a disconnect button on the connection buble everytime I 've connected to the GPRS. But there is no disconnect button in the current build so that I can't disconnect GPRS and I need to switch off the radio for getting disconnected.

I suppose these are the bugs in the current build because other AKU3.5 (even your Crossbow) doesn't have these issues.

Could you please take a look.

Hello,

First, I'd like to thanks to all for this great forum.

I've tested Helmi Aku3.5 for a month and I'm really pleasure for that rom.
Now I'd like to upgrade to the vanilla, but there are two applications that I'd to install in the new rom.
One is the application to modify the soft keys that appears in the settings of Aku3.5.
Another is the Print Screen that appears in the extras programs.
Anybody knows the name of that applications or where can I get them?

Cheers,

No Iam not running wisbar advance. I think 131 really is a crossbow rom by stealth or at least contains some of these components that are playing havoc with strict wm 5 AKU 3.5 stuff.

I'm running Wisbar Advance 2, Spb Pocket Plus, Spb Diary, Spb Weather and Spb Finance on my 1.3.1. I haven't had any issues. Actually feels like it's running better on this ROM than others I've tried... Did you install it on the SD Card or the internal memory? I have all in internal which is probably why I don't have any issues.

Greetings

Yesterday I was running the most up to date rom provided by T-Mobile as I was having difficulty establishing any dial up networking over bluetooth using an old AKU3 release.

So the T-Mo rom gave me my BT DUN support back.

Last night I revisited XDA-Dev and saw this rom and thought I'd give it a try.

Very Very Nice :) Speed and more available system memory . . . excellent.

However I now can't perform any BT DUN .

Is this an MS/Broadcom/Widdcomm Stack issue?

Any pointers to a thread or guidance with regards resolving this would be most helpful.

Otherwise I'm a gonna have to revert to a pre aku3 release methinks.

Keep up the stellar work.

Ta

I use my Universal over one year. I use 7th ROM now. But all the time i cant find the fully finished & best idea for dial contacts without stylus, only via telephone keyboard. I have smartdialing.dll (with russian support) maded by Geo77. But smartdialing sometimes works not correctly - on few ROMs i saw black window (from photo contact place) - tel keyboard is not visible but when press on screen - i hear DTMF sounds...

Now present few programs such as
EzDial2
Vito QuickContact
and else other programs, where you can input your language letters to tel keyb 1-9. But all this programs have difficulties: for ex in Vito QuickContact after install you may forget speed dial, create note, your skins (native is very bad), full viewed call history, and many many other ....

The best idea for international using smartdialing i think that is EzDial2:
small size + VGA/QVGA/square screens support + letters different languages input (in file in program folder) + skins + edit skins (all options can be changed in skin.ini placed in Ezdial program folder). The most interest - in any skin that i tried, this program very correct!!! adds my RUSSIAN language letters to tel keyb 1-9, without soft reset!!!

But very bad is:
- 3squared windows for appearing contacts names (i try to change it for ex to minimum 5)
- skinviewer after your applying changes (made by original program site) works, but not correctly - i view errors messages, but program still? working
- when install original VGA screen - i see "skin corrupted, file @name@", (besides it works)

In any ROM, language, skin, user can use tel keyboard 1-9 on his native language!!! Its multifunctional. I propose to grow up this good idea, detect&clean errors in VGA skin, cgange appearing contacts names - to method as in smartdialing (fully width on screen, normal sized font). Then any post (such as make me please my language in smartdialinggg ...will) be dissapeared, and EzDial (trial :) ) or this most interest principles of work converted to cab file :-) can be added to ROM.nbf :-) directly, for flashing.

Please note that this is an unofficial ROM, warranty will be void if you bring it back to service.

By far Helmi AKU3.5 v1.3 is very stable and has been using it since last November.

Windows Live and Windows Live Messenger, my is working but I am not sure if I could help.

After I flash the ROM, it is already with both. My Live Messenger just works like this, doing nothing.

Initially for Windows Live, I remember I am able to send but not able to receive or is it the other round. But doing nothing, this month, it just suddenly works.

By the way, for both, there is not much configurations to be done and my is Singtel.

Hello Kamal,

I read the Wiki but I could not find the file named Universal_Upgrade_v1.30.68_radio_1.090.zip on the FTP site. Do you know where I can find this file?

As I could not find the zipped file, I found MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe and updated the radio to 1.09. But apparently I need to update something else as it did not help solve my problem. (As you might understand, I am new to all this, but I try).

Thanks for your kind assistance,

@Edward

You looking for Helmi AKU3.5 v1.3.1 which is the vanilla version?

I preferred the Helmi Aku3.5 v1.3 which has many addons.

The Helmi Aku3.5 v1.3 which I am using is download from here with an empty extended rom with no radio.

But I am using Helmi Aku3.5 v1.3 with the Dopod 900 original Aku2.0's extended rom (see my signature below) which has all the service providers cab files.

No, that is a known problem with that ROM. That is the only thing I don't like about it, so I had to give it up.

But since you are still using his ROM, try this suggestion of mine, look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=303897

That thread is Pocket MSN Messenger for WM6 (taken from WM5), my suggestion is to replace or install this over the old version. Hopefully that will sove that problem.
