yes i'm looking for the vanilia version, and a upgrade for my radio ROM, i suppose it'll be 1.15.00 right?
for extROM, is there a download?
i still don't get it, when i flahsed back to the helmi_c 1.3.1 vanilia, i cannot use windows live messenger. a ERROR will be displayed. is there something i missed out in the settings? and when i open windows live, after the login, it doesn't proceed any further.
i really like the helmi_c 1.3.1ROM, but i need windows messenger too!
cheers CWKJ
You can flash the 3 ROMs separately. They are,
- Microsoft ROM, nk.nbf
- Extended ROM, _ms.nbf
- Radio ROM, _radio.nbf
Looks like you have already flashed the Microsoft part of the Helmi AKU3.5 v1.3.1. You can search this forum for Windows Live *.cab files to install it. Or you could flash Microsoft part of the Helmi AKU3.5 v1.3 which comes with Windows Live.
Did you clear the Extended ROM with the empty Extended ROM provided in the Helmi's release? If you have not, do not do that. If you clear it, than suggest you download the AKU2.0 ROM from DopodAsia website. Flash back the extended rom.
Radio 1.15.00 is available on this website. make a search you will able to find it.
Ok, found it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298090

You must have missed a step. Follow this instruction I made: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=269118
Be sure you have it in BOOT LOADER MODE.
If you are looking for the files. I suggest, go to the Universal WM6 Section and look for MWangs's post regarding Dark Force ROM. All the files you are searching are there, included in his ROM release.

Hello CWKJ,
my current ROM i'm using now is the official Dopod900 release, which is:
ROM version: 1.30.111 WWE
ROM date: 04/06/06
Radio ver: 1.11.00
Protocol ver: 42.45.P8
ExtROM: 1.30.230 WWE
i think you're trying to advice me to flash the ROM to Helmi_C's v1.3.1 vanilia; 2.60.00WWE right?
and the Radio ROM to the 1.15.00 ?
BUT don't touch the ExtROM?
i have no idea if the Helmi_C's v 1.3.1 vanillia has a blank ExtROM. i suppose not cos i cannot see a 'ms_.nbf' file.
and for the windows live messenger, i think i'll give the old Pocket MSN a try instead. may i know how to install properly? theres 2 .zip files.
how to enable the VGA resolution for the screen? must i have a programme?
thank you
edward

If there's no ms_.nbf file, your ExtROM will stay as it is, so all the customations will be applied after a hard reset to the new ROM. To really use the vanilla ROMs as intended (without any operator programs or settings) then put an empty ext rom image in the ROM folder.

Cktlcmd - Thank you for your help. I followed your instrauctions and succeeded on one device. But I did the excat same procedures on my second device and I cannot load the Helmi Rom on it. I am still getting the Country ID Error. The only difference I am seeing is that the bootloader of the one I manged to fix had loader 1.0 and the one which is giving me problems has loader 1.1. Can this by the reason fo not succeeding?
Thanks, Jezz

There is a READ ME TEXT FILE. Just follow the instructions.
Search for OZVGA or Mr.TRUEVGA on the Universal forums. You will find it there.

It should work no matter what the boot loader version. Try disabling your firewall before attaching the device via USB. Sometimes it does take time and several tries for the computer to recognize the device.

i've got a question for you: when will be the internet-sharing good?
CWKJ
27th April 2007, 05:38 PM
@Edward
Your original Dopod 900 is confirmed AKU2.0 and is the latest provided officially by Dopod.
3 ROMs (Microsoft, Radio & Ext ROM) can be flashed separately or in any combinations of 1, 2 or 3. But Radio is not included in Helmi's ROM, you have to download in this forum with the previous link I provided you.
For Singapore, it is better to keep the Ext ROM which is service provider (Singtel, M1, Starhub) related. If you do not see _ms.nbf in Helmi's ROM, like what markymanxxx said, the original Ext ROM should be safe. To be sure, you may download/install freeware like TotalCommander and type \EXTENDED_ROM\ at the command line, you will be able to see the whole extended rom or perform a hard reset to check if you see at the beginning all the service provider installation during the first boot from hard reset.
For PMSN, you need this files from AKU2.0 to be copied into windows directory of AKU3.5 and create shortcut/TextFile called PMSN.LNK containing 25#\Windows\pmsnlauncher.exe in \windows\start menu\programs\ directory. Search this forum, you should find the zip files, forgot the link, but I think if I am not wrong, it was me who place the zip, I do not have it now.
instmsgr.exe
pmsn.cpl
pmsn.lnk
pmsnhotmail.dll
pmsnlauncher.exe
pmsnresources.192.dll
pmsnresources.dll
pmsnserver.exe
pmsnshared.dll
pocketmsn.htm
pocketmsnhelp.htm
For VGA & Windows Live, if you used Helmi AKU3.5 v1.3, its already there. If you use v1.3.1, you have to follow cktlcmd advice.
For VGA, honestly using it in normal situation is very stressful for the eyes because it is too small. It seems only useful when using Internet Explorer when you can see the full webpage but again it is too small. The build in zoom function in Internet Explorer IMHO is enough.

I found a solution for those having errors upon opening WLM using version 1.3.1
Just copy and paste the attached files to the Windows folder then perform a soft reset. Use Total Commander to copy and paste.

Hi guys, hope someone can help me out. Finally got a uni (orange version m5000), updated the rom using helmi 3.5 and all went well, have managed to install some of my fav progs like resco file explorer etc but have noticed that cab files wont install, its goes thru the motions of installing but then says it cannot install, have tried installing from pc and on handset eg TCPMP, tried the desktop installer for this but it wont, tried selecting different locations too but no luck.
Also,,,,, activesync will connect to phone but will not sync??? have reinstalled activesync but problem persists, the activesync troubleshooter does not help, not sure if this came about after i ran windows live messenger and syced contacts thru that?? is it possible to remove live messenger, it does not show up in list of installed progs, neither does anything else i have installed for that matter
everything else seems to be fine but it might be early days, wifi and gprs all working fine etc

Which Helmi Aku3.5 Rom you using. From my guess of what you written, you should be Helmi Aku3.5 v1.3. There is also a v1.3.1 vanilla.
Which Windows you are using? XP should be fine, but remember to remove the firewall.
Which version of Activesync you using? Me using 4.5 Beta with Live MSN without problem.
Which version of TCPMP you using? Google the latest, there is 1 on the web that does not need to install but just copy.

Yes, I believe you can also do that using your PC while connected via active sync.
You need not copy the folder itself, just the contents of it to replace the same files already in the Windows folder.

I like this ROM, fast, stable, and best of all, WMP plays streaming video in FULL screen mode unlike any other WM5 ROM.

Thanks very much for this ROM version Helmi! I'm using the AKU 3.5 v1.3.1 Vanilla version, and it's working out GREAT for me. I do have one issue though, and it is quite minor. When clicking on an e-mail/SMS/etc. message in Pocket Outlook, the next screen where you read the full message starts me at about halfway down the message.
To see the entire message from the beginning, I have to scroll up to the top. Also, the fonts in the messaging application seem to be smaller, and I cannot find a way to increase them (squinting while reading new e-mail in the car isn't very safe, haha!)
Anyways, great stable fast ROM, and thanks again for your efforts in keeping WM5 alive on the UNi!
