I would like to use Tom Tom on my (standard) Vario II and I'm not sure what I need to run it.
Do I need to upgrade my handset to GPS? If so, how do I do this?
Cheers.

You need the TomTom software and the maps of course as well as a seperate GPS Receiver because the MDA Vario II doesn't have any integarated GPS function.
Most people go for Bluetooth GPS Receivers although there are some cases where you might want a Wired GPS Receiver, to attach to the outside of your car or something for example.
Check out PocketGPSWorld (http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/item-menu.php?idSubCat=5) for some good reviews if you want and then just browse around and take your pick.
I use the Holux GPSlim 240 (http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/holux-gr240.php) which is fantastic.
