I sent my m500 to HTC 2 weeks ago for diagnosis of a fault with the usb port, as it would not charge or sync. I phoned them prior to this I was told that it was out of warranty & it was likely to be the motherboard which would be £140
to replace + £21.50 to cover diagnosis & return postage.I asked them to have a look at it & then give me a call to see if I wanted to go ahead with the repairs.
After a week I checked on their site to see what the status of my case number was, only to find the phone had been repaired & was awaiting final test.
I phoned them the next day to ask how things were going as I had not heard from them. I was told the unit was being shipped in the morning, didn't like to ask why they were not charging me for the repairs. 2 days later, 1 m500 arrived complete with a new motherboard how weird is that.
Merry Christmas HTC
