if you have flashed an english rom on x01ht, you need to change the registry to use the japanese key layout. install a registry editor first and change the values as follows.
from:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty] "Layout"= 20409 (Hexadecimal base)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload] "Default"= e0010409
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload\1] "Default"= e0010409
to:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty] "Layout"= 20411 (Hexadecimal base)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload] "Default"= e0010411
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload\1] "Default"= e0010411
this won't fix "," and "." mapping although the symbols will be all mapped correctly.

which rom are you on? the mapping issue of "," and "." can be fixed if you have the latest i-mate rom or the latest tytn rom by changing it to this.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty] "Layout"= 30411 (Hexadecimal base)
i use more periods than commas so i don't do it and i forgot to mention it in my previous post.

manner mode only comes with softbank rom and it doesn't exist in any wwe roms. i had the same issue when i noticed it after flashing tytn rom on mine. what i have now is vibra that substitutes for manner mode although you can't map it to the manner mode button (press & hold comm manager button, button 3) and i have mapped it to the button 5 note/memo button (press & hold). read this thread and download vibra from there if you want.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=277811&highlight=vibra
i don't have any issues with my button 5 note/memo button. just a press will run voice speed dial and a press & hold will run vibra as i said. press & hold was record before i mapped vibra to it. check how your buttons are mapped by start -> settings -> buttons. you can change program assignments as you like.

ringer vibtrate switch works properly, and its nice........i like to used it
i knew X01HT with bootloader 1,09 is not unlockable but i changed the ROM to HTC-Z docomo properly but the problem is the KEYPAD i tried to used the same way(keypad registry) but it didnt works:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
from:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty] "Layout"= 20409 (Hexadecimal base)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload] "Default"= e0010409
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload\1] "Default"= e0010409
to:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty] "Layout"= 20411 (Hexadecimal base)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload] "Default"= e0010411
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload\1] "Default"= e0010411
this won't fix "," and "." mapping although the symbols will be all mapped correctly
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty] "Layout"= 30411
i cant change this to 20411 i always try but it always back to 30411
what is the best thing to do to make SYMBOL back to its original position?
tnx to harry

apacom,
i've never tried docomo rom and don't know how you can fix that. i know qtotter was using docomo rom on x01ht and he might be able to tell you what to do. why don't you send qtotter a pm and ask?

apacom,
let me give you my 2 cents again since nobody has responded to this since my last post. the docomo rom doesn't recognize 30411 for "Layout" and that's why your symbol mapping is screwed. It has to be 20411 with the docomo rom.
i don't understand why you can't change it back to 20411 when you could change it to 30411. try to change it to 20411 with your reg editor, take a breath and then power off and on your device. just pressing the reset button with your stylus won't make the reg changes effective.

Hi
I can modify the first parameter but when I attempt to edit the other two, I get "Access is denied"
Anyone got any clues?
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty] "Layout"= 20411 (Hexadecimal base)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload] "Default"= e0010411
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload\1] "Default"= e0010411

Nice one! Fixed my keyboard issues.
However, I lose my predictive text input for SMS'es - any idea how I can get it back? Using English with WMXL 0.20.1.
Thanks!

I noticed this post previously.....I went throught the whole thing...and noticed predictive text dissappeared. I hard reboot and did the following
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty]
"Layout"="197649" (decimal)
without changing anything to 0411 and keyboard symbols worked perfectly as well as predictive text.
Try that instead.

Just to add one further point on this prolem. Apart from reactive1's great solution, i found that some shifted keys on the left were still wrongly mapped, such as ? ! @ and ?
To solve this you need to make sure that
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keyd] "Locale" is in the registry (add it if it is not) and set to 0411 (Hex) or 1041 (decimal)
Finally my X01ht keyboard now works!!
