I am using this G3 ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276700

I am unable to use the Picture & Videos program to browse and play back my files. Whenever I launch it, there are no pictures, or videos in the 3x4 boxes that usually have thumbnails.

I click Show. Here is what I see...

My Device
My Documents
• My Pictures
-------------------
Storage Card

I click on Storage card, and then the heading changes to "Mail Attachments," the popup menu stays there, and nothing happens.

Quit the program, start over, now I see...

My Device
Storage Card
Inbox.mst#########
• Mail Attachments
--------------------
My Pictures
My Pictures

If I click on the bottom "My Pictures" I get some of the standard images, that MMS clown picture, and the flower, but the program still hangs and I get at any other directories.

Also, I have set my images to be saved on the storage card. what am I doing wrong here? Is there a way to reinstall the picture program (standalone download)?

I saw the same thing a couple of days ago and wondered. XnView Pocket works just fine on the same directory.

For whatever reason, Pictures and Videos will NOT work on that rom if XN Pocket View is installed. You have two options that I know of: 1) Uninstall XN Pocket View and use Pictures and Video only or 2) Set XN Pocket View to be the default viewer for pictures and never attempt to use Pictures and Videos.

How do you uninstall xn pocket view? The "remove programs" tool doesn't work. How do I make sure I do a complete uninstall, and is there anything else I need to do to make Pictures & Videos work again?

I use both XN Pocket Viewer and Pictures & Videos. It may also be a dialer skin you're using. Sometimes they don't play nice with Pics & Videos. I've had this with a number of ROMs I've tried.

To fix it, use Total Commander and go to \Windows\MFC80U.DLL - once you find the file, highlight it, click the file button, click rename and rename it to MFC80UU.DLL and click enter. This should do the trick.

Glad to hear it's working, but I can't take the credit. I found this some time back in this thread:
