==================================================
Ten steps to successfull Himalaya/WM2k5 upgrade.
================================================== ==================
Note:
The Radio_.nbf is an optional component,
not included in this archive
================================================== ==================
The nbf file is configured for operator ID O2 and language ID WWE.
If you need to change these, carry out all the steps below.
Otherwise proceed from step 5.
In case of CountryID error run HimaUpgradeUt_noID.exe instead of HimaUpgradeUt.exe
================================================== ==================
1. Extract the decrypted versions of the nbf files
by entering the following commands at the command prompt:
xda2nbftool -x NK.nbf NK.nba 0x20040304
xda2nbftool -x Radio_.nbf Radio_.nba 0x20040306
2. Modify the operator ID in the nbfs to the value you require
by entering the following commands at the command prompt
substituting <operator> with the required value:
xda2nbftool -sd PH10 -so <operator> -sl WWE NK.nba
xda2nbftool -sd PH10 -so <operator> -sl WWE Radio_.nba
3. Update the crc values for each of the decrypted files
by entering the following commands at the command prompt:
xda2nbftool -c -u NK.nba
xda2nbftool -c -u Radio_.nba
4. Encrypt the files back into the nbf files by entering
the following commands at the command prompt:
xda2nbftool -x NK.nba NK.nbf 0x20040304
xda2nbftool -x Radio_.nba Radio_.nbf 0x20040306
5. Start your device in bootloader mode by pressing and holding down:
DPad + PowerButton + ResetButton
After a second release ResetButton, then release the rest of them.
Your screen will show word "Serial" at the top.
You are in bootloader mode now.
6. Place your device in the cradle, ensuring that the cradle
is plugged directly into a USB port on your PC and not to a hub
and that the power supply is connected to the cradle.
It is also a good idea to disable any screensavers on your desktop PC.
Once your device is cradled, the text on the screen will change to "USB".
7. Run HimaUpgradeUt.exe
8. Sit back and wait for the Congratulations screen to be displayed
on your PC. Your device will still be displaying 'Upgrading radio stack, please wait',
but as long as the PC says it is done, then its all OK.
9. Detach your device from the cradle.
10. Now you have to hardreset your device.
Press ResetButton and hold down CameraButton + RecordButton.
Hold them pressed until the "Boot Options" menu appears on the screen.
Select the options as follows:
(for selecting use RecordButton, change values with CameraButton)
Enable KITL -> NO
Clean Registry Hive -> YES
Format Storage -> YES
When done, press DPad and wait until OS starts.

This ROM is lighter, cleaner and has less bugs than the c_shekhar ROM. Push email works (which for me is important) and overall it seems pretty stable and fast. What I'd like to see added to the base is;
1. Softkey applet
2. GB Softweak
Bugs so far:
1. In settings/buttons, the 3rd tab is empty (should be lock) and when you select it, the 2 option strings are empty. If you know what the options are, you can still make it work. c_shekhar used an additional cpl entry to get around this.
2. When you enable the speakerphone, you get a dialog box with squares in it (wrong language/character set?).

Is this ROM better then c_shekhar's latest version of his ROM?
If so/if not please could you add comments as to why.
Many thanks :-)

hey
i flashed my XDA II with the helmi rom right after flashing c_shekars rom, and.....i prefer Helmis, purely for the fact that it seems a LOT quicker, only advantage of C_Shekars' rom is the nice new icons, that all really. if helmi could figure out a way to port over the icons that would be just fantastic!
Havent had a chance to properly go through the rom, but so far its been very stable, love the fact that its so 'clean'! no clutter!
does anybody know of where i can obtain the CAB files to re-install office mobile and most importantly clearvue PDF reader? if anybody does. pleas post!
how are other people finding this rom?

One thing I dont like about C Shekhar rom is that he put a lot of his personal preference into the ROM not taking into account if the additional component cooked actually dont run very well..ZoomSMS for example takes about 50% cpu power every few second...that alone will shorten your batt live quite a lot. The funny thing is that he has been putting those since AKU 3.2.and all the revision until AKU 3.5 without knowing that the ZoomSMS is the culprit for the shorten batt live. EVAL is a junk calculator only flinstone still want to use. Games in the ROM?
One thing for sure "I dont want CHANDRA SHEKHAR name appear everytime I soft reset MY XDAII" Yes the XDAII is mine not C SHEKHAR. Forgive me C SHEKHAR but I think you are the ony one out there that force your name on everyones else device.
With regard to hemi ROM it is clean ROM but quite stable. Just doenload the Kitchen and the latest OS&LOC with Crossbow Theme. Use the new OS and LOC for the kithen and cook.

Thank you for the interruption. I thought I am in the boxing arena with Chicken JACK-ASS as my opponent.
For your request, there are great young and old people both in this forum and in Buzzdev who give their best to make Himalaya travel with time.
As of this time all possibilities for Magneto (WM5) have been tried and tested. To say, this is not to assert, we have come this far and there have been so much effort made to reach this point.
You can use their ROM, and explore & share your experiences. There is also a step by step procedure to cook ones ROM. As of now I am waiting for the WM6 to hit into the Board and I will start my own time travel if it is still possible for the Hima to accomodate such an upgrade.
Good Luck to all people who tried their best to make this forum a very interesting one.

jtan:
What software did you use to restore your previous sms's? Some backup software corrupts the databases on the new ROM. Failing that try reflashing the ROM.

easy my man
it's very easy to eliminate this name
just creat the splash screen image u want in size 240*320(width*height)
(what ever u have in it, it's up to u)
save it with the name welcomehead.96 and the type png image
place it in ur windows folder, and howalla.. ur splah screen doesnt have c_shekhar name!
it's easy, and simple
i'm attaching an already made splash screen with a nice look
(it's origional 3.2 splash screen)
make sure the extension is png
Sincerly,
Adam

Ok, installed this ROM, main thing is I'm not receiving any SMS, neither Messaging will load (Soft Reset, Hard Reset, still the same).
Also, IMHO, too many proggies pre-loaded (rlcalendar, eval, bla bla).

Hi O33
Why u put Title Rom Kitchen for Helmi
1- No files for ROM kitchen only nk.nbf, HimaUpgradeUt.exe & xda2nbftool.exe
2- The title inside say it is test for C-Shakhar ROM 3.2!!!
Would u please upload the link for kitchen as ur title says

I was using Helmi ROM for 1 month, then decided to try Sheckar...
Used for one single day! :(
Will return to Helmi ROM.
I think there is too much software in Sheckar rom and worst of all, not usefull.
Thanks to both for the work and sharing with us.

I've been missing MMS in Messaging ->
do I have to change something (values/etc..) to appear this in Messaging,
or do I have to install some applications for working that. And If so, which
one should I use?
==> mms3.5.1.5 cab file should be the solution, but this does not install
Thanks in advance
