the ppc never shuts down!the only thing that you can do is to put it on flight mode and you will not receive or make any calls!

.wysiwyg { background-attachment: scroll; background-repeat: repeat; background-position: 0% 0%; background-color: #ffffcc; background-image: none; color: #000000; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Arial; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; font-size: 10pt; line-height: normal } p { margin: 0px; }The Magician has no built-in power-off functionality. Can't tell off-hand whether it's possible via software. Easiest way has always been sliding the battery cover open - a few milimeters do. Then put it back.

Smartphones and PDAs dont have the shutdown option like a regular PC. Removing the battery will cause the device to hard reset. What's the reason you want to shut down your device?

I made a version of VJEschaton to allow shutdown (kind of) for the WM2003 Magician. Memory is retained.

I can't remember if I ever publically released this. I think I did.
www.vijay555.com/vj/releases/vjeschaton/vjeschaton0.2.exe (http://www.vijay555.com/vj/releases/vjeschaton/vjeschaton0.2.exe)

Make a shortcut to it, and launch with command line -sleep

Thats not entirely true... the cingular 2125 smartphone (htc farraday i think) the wizard and hermes are all devices i have owned.. they will shut down or turn off (there could be a difference here) and removing the battery does not hard reset these devices... now the magician is obviously different and i never owned it, so i dont know...

Shogun, the old magician is wm2003 and didn't have peristent memory, so did lose memory when it lost power for any prolonged period.

VJEschaton does bring about a more long term hibernation state (note, you'll have to soft reset the magician to wake it up)
