SMS Backup before Rom Upgrade

Hi I am using the T-mobile Rom that came with my device. Now I want to try som of the newe AKUs. I already did backup my PIM-Data with Outlook now I want to backup all my sms messages before I try a new ROM. Any suggestions?

Activesync backup or use SPB backup? Those two i believe backup everything on your Universal. I never backup my contacts, everytime i do a ROM upgrade i see my contacts again, the only thing i dont see is the data! always erased.

Backing up, and restoring data from a previous ROM is usually a bad idea.
